Well it was the first royal burial many people had seen in decades, because I was pretty sure at the time that Queen Elizabeth 2nd was close to immortal.
It is wonderful to see Philippa Langley in time frame 1:08 as she enters to lay a white rose on her beloved King Richard III, for she is the first and only person who had the initial dream to find the king. Without her vision and determination, during all of the hard times, the king would not have been found, and there would not have been this wonderful ceremony. For Philippa Langley it must have been a wonderful moment of completion, because she had found him, exhumed him, and gone thorough all of the scientific verification, and now she was placing a white rose on the coffin of King Richard III as he was being laid to rest with all pomp and high honor. Philippa Langley is the person who brought about this history changing event, all praise and honor to her. Doctor George Whitehead
This is just such a fascinating story. I'd love to go back to medieval times and just witness what happened. It wasn't easy that's for sure. What a service though...one befitting a King 👑 an actual KING.
Thestory of Richard lll anh his reburial is so captivating. Leicester is extraordinary, just like ghe Italian trainer Ranieri who brought its local football team on top of the world.grts from Italy
@@OneTrueScotsman I know what you mean. It is not as if Richard III didn't murder his nephews to become the King of England. Something even his groupies cannot deny without lying about.
Says who? There's absolutely no knowledge as to what happened to Richard III's nephews nor where they are. A few bones found in the Tower of London could belong to anyone. A little DNA would only provide proof of who owned them. DNA won't prove who had them killed, if they actually were killed or simply died of ???
I'm distantly related to Richard the third and Benedict Cumberbatch, sadly my DNA got muddied and no pure DNA line exists so no evidence could be extracted from me 😂 I still love coming back to this story though. Despite all the odds he was found ❤
Well that depends in whether you believe the Tudors or not, some people consider the history written by the Victor's to be the 'Tudor Myth' we may never know the truth of it.
No debateable, this slander of King Richard 3 was bought about by the Tudors who took the throne from him on Bosworth field and Shakespeare just plodded out the blackening of his name during the rule of Henry 8th to make his reign legitimate
First of all, it's spelled "Mourning"... Secondly, noone is Mourning him, they are returning him home and burying him properly, and thusly giving him some final respect.
@@judejenkins2771 No one can prove he was evil and sinister, all these ideas about King Richard 111 were put about by the Tudors who took over the English throne after the Battle of Bosworth to make him look sinister, there is no actual proof he murdered his 2 nephews in the Tower and William Shakespeare's plays were just Tudor propaganda to prove to the illiterate people of the time then that he was sinister and the Tudors were the rightful rulers of England
And a year later Leicester City FC won the premier league. Definitely a blessing from King Richard III
Indeed !!!
Yeah maybe the Virtue signalling Indian band...STFU!

Awesome,absolutely awesome.
Knights in the modern era
Imagine the honour you must have to make a coffin for an ancestor of high significance and lay him to rest

Imagine if the US had lost and then found George Washington's skeleton 600 years later?
We would’ve gone apeshit.
If the colonies had lost no one would know who George Washington was outside a few historians working in very specialized areas.
No shit
Wish I could have been there.
The coffin cake just cracked me up 😂
He’s sad not to be buried at Home. York Minster 💔
Richard 3rd returned home to be buried with honour. And quite rightly, too!
The WHITE ROSE of YORK! for those in the USA, please read up on the War of the Roses in British History. fascinating.
they cant read
Good for Leicester tourism
Should be here in York.
He killed his nephews, stupid to think he wouldn’t have done this
Hope those priests at the ceremony were catholics, since Richard was catholic...
Wonderfully eccentric AND very British to honor a man who killed his own nephews for the British throne

Shakespearean myth.
We don't have proof of that. I think he allowed it to happen, but that's a hunch and not remotely provable.
