Awesome car dude! And great video too. I like how you had a short intro, immediately rolled right into the car and then showed us what work you are doing to it.
I’ve come across videos that were 10 minutes of nonsense before they even talk about the car. Keep the good videos coming.
Our cars have come a hell of a long way since we first started working on them! They're completely different now!
What’s especially cool is our cars have progressed at the same rate and we are always competitive at the track!
I have an 04, sweet spot because of the F22 and other upgrades w the ap2 but it’s still as raw as an ap1, because traction control and drive by wire weren’t introduced until 06
I’ve always wondered what the F22 feels like in comparison. Are you able to tune it easily? That is one thing I wanted to do but I guess you can’t lower the Vtec on the AP1s without an aftermarket ECU
Same
I have a whole new appreciation for this car after watching this video. You have done a lot to it!
Thanks! My only regret is I should have washed it before I filmed this video 🙃
Love the build. Any reason why you didn't add roll center adjustment in the rear too? Did you need to add spacers to the wheels to fit the BBK, or does that spec work with the calipers?
That means a lot, thanks! only reason why I didn’t do rear RCAs is because it requires a press to install them and I was lazy. also a lot of guys don’t run them so I’m not sure if it’s 100% necessary
Where did you get the spray paint for the valve cover? I like that color a lot so I would like to know 😃
It was powdercoated “pika blue”. Spray paint would be easier but it wouldn’t look as good
What tire size you running? :)
A hanging rear diffuser would complete the back end.
I totally would but it’s against class rules for now. Down the road I would love to do that and a flat bottom
What mirrors are those? They look sweet!
They are from Ballade: balladesports.com/products/ballade-sports-aero-mirrors
Taking notes 🧐 📝
We should do a build breakdown on your GR86 next!
@@FosterJohnsonMedia I was actually thinking that too 😂
Is the oil filter stopper actually effective? My car caught on fire one year at the track. Luckily, fire extinguisher saved it in time from being a total loss. Wiring Harness, solenoid and fuse box cover were burned.
Oh yeah the filter stopper makes a huge difference! My car caught on fire for similar reasons - the filter back itself off and got oil on the headers. This season I have use the filter stopper and I haven’t had any issues
@@FosterJohnsonMedia Thanks. I''m going to order one. I've always worried it will happen again.
You mentioned you're running RT660 tires. What exact size?
255/40/17 - this is the max size allowed in my time attack class! Has a nice meaty fitment
@@FosterJohnsonMediawhat alignment?
what alignment specs you running?
-2.8 Front Camber, -2.5 rear, 0 toe front, .12 toe in rear per side .24 total rear toe.
I would like to add some more camber in the front soon. Other than that I am happy with how the car feels
No clutch lsd and shorter final drive and standalone ecu? Oil cooler and bigger radiator?
Those are all on my list except for the winter, I know the diff and final drive will make a big difference in lap times!
Spoon oil sump
@@stat1865 I was thinking about running a baffled oil pan. you mean the spoon baffled oil pan or an actual dry sump?
@@FosterJohnsonMedia
Spoon baffled oil pan, mines a road legal track S2000 nothing crazy but handles amazing and the spoon sump is purely peice of mind knowing hard corning it won't starve of oil
Don't you find the steering wheel too far away? You can get a spacer for it.
I’m used to driving with my steering wheel a bit further away so it’s not too bad. However I do think a quick release setup could be nice for getting in and out of the car and I wouldn’t mind having the wheel a touch closer. Right now my elbows are just barely bent
how did you had your oil filter tightened prior to the oil filter stopper?
Beautiful car. But, how often are u gonna go over 130 mph for that wing has effect. It kills the car. 5 secs a lap, who cares. No prize money, right. Always keep it simple. People laugh at that thing
Without the rear wing the s2000 creates lift, since this car is at the track 99% of the time the mods I decided to do were all about lap times. Looks comes second to performance. Plus I think it looks pretty cool myself but looks are subjective
