For this home theater, our client had several goals:
The theater room must serve as a multi-purpose room including a billiard table, poker table, and wet bar.
Be visually appealing to fit the overall aesthetics of the house.
Discreetly hide the projector and speakers to keep a clean look within the multi-purpose room.
Block all, natural light from the wall of windows while watching movies.
Double as a great music sound system for entertaining.

This is well done. Like how you guys use high end equipment in your installs
Absolutely stunning room (and equipment) --- The only thing I would add/change is I would stain the inside of the hole for the projector over the light, it looks unfinished compared to the rest of the room 10:52
You are absolutely correct. That is the last piece of the puzzle for the wood working team that has not yet been completed. We shot the video anyways, but I applaud you for seeing that detail. The wood working folks told me not to shoot the video until that stain was done and I decided we would move forward anyways to get the video out.
Wonderfully creative system, especially 'hiding' the Projector in the Billiard Lamp! How do you deal with airflow and heat in this situation?
Great question Don. So the billiard lamp is actually fully open on the top so it is as if the projector is suspended in the air just sitting on a platform. And actually we made the height of the borders of the billiard lamp lower than the projector so the projector actually stands out over the wood bordres so air can flow from the front to the back of the projector. We had to do some interesting calculations to have the projector protrude from the top but only enough such that you can't see it when you look diagonally up. One other detail that I did not cover in the video is the exact height of the billiard lamp itself. The lamp had to be at the exact height that it would project over the viewing area without hitting anyone's heads but still provide a perfect rectangular picture (the Sony has good lens shift to help with this) and had to be at the right height such that you could be at the wet bar behind the lamp and still see the entire screen; and it had to throw the lighting in the lamp directly onto the billiard table. Suffice it to say that if you do a lot of these like we do, you realize there are a bunch of things to think about. Thanks for bringing up this airflow point that I should have included in the video.
An Audio Advice video that actually details design and equipment. Wow!
Very impressive. What an amazing room with such great attention to detail with all the built-ins! Ideal room for entertaining. Great job!
The K-Scape files are still compressed video files with usually the same lossless soundtracks as the Blu-ray or 4k Blu-ray disc equivalent release. A few times the video compression is somewhat better than the disc (off the studio supplied mezzanine file), but to imply that K-Scape is wholly superior is misleading. And if they ever go out of business... well... your collection may go with them.
Why would you throw all that cash on a kaleidescape? Doesn't plex do the same? You can get yourself a nas for 10% of the cost
Awesome theater! I still can't believe the projector is inside the billiard lamp. Pretty cool!
Nice job. I love the 2.35 screen with masking.
Great responses to questions from viewers. I love you guys :)
Pretty darn awesome room and system. Well done guys. Well done.😊
Very nice. I need to upgrade my system soon.
One of the best home theaters I'v seen in a while. I love the screen size. Very cool.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. Glad you enjoyed it. We will be adding more theater videos soon. Stay tuned.
Is there any airflow in that cabinet where the av receiver and amps sit? Wouldn't it be like a furnace in there when all the equipment is in use?
I doubt it. It's a nice room but you can see a lot of issues with the setup.. they seem more interested in selling certain kits and promulgating misconceptions than anything 🤷♂️
Behind the cabinets is an attic that is unfinished. We cut out a door behind the equipment to access it from the back via the attic. This particular attic, while unfinished, has been foam sealed under the roof so that attic itself remains pretty cool. So we have a very small fan that pulls from the equipment cabinet into the attic and it runs on a trigger so it is only running when needed which actually is not very often. If you look at the video closely you will see that we left ample room in the cabinets around equipment that runs hotter like the main amplifier. The major exception is the stack of sub amps but those running less hot than you would think as they are Class D digital amps.
Really great detailed overview of a great room, only thing I would change would be to have some sort of edging on the blind to fully block out the light. Thanks for sharing :)
You are exactly right on your comment. What is hard to tell in the video is that we built a custom channel in matching wood on the front side of the front window for the shades. So it turns out that all light is blocked from hitting the screen when the shades are down. But for aesthetic reasons, we did not do channels on all the windows which would have taken away from the transitional look of the room. The end results is that you don't actually notice any channels but in fact during full sunlight the screen is still fully protected. Impressive that you noticed this as most people would not even think about the edging/channels.
Excellent set up
i really liked the chair man... the chair is my favorite among the products mentioned here...
Beautiful!
put the sound off, it's relaxing
I usually find a 50Hz to 60Hz hump in most rooms which I find objectionable but I find a small 40Hz hump to usually be preferred by most people especially when the 15Hz to 30Hz is brought up to meet it. How severe was the bass node ?
Honestly for the average home owner they probably don't notice the node until they hear the correctly calibrated system and even then they know it sounds way better but don't often know why. In this case there was a relatively substantial node (around 7 db plus or minus) that I could easily hear before calibration. I would agree that many people don't mind higher gain in the lower sub frequencies. However, if you can calibrate it really well by cutting the hump out, all of sudden everything else has a relative gain and it just sounds incredible. Listening before and after felt like you just got Lasik surgery and everything cleared up super well.
Wow. I am really impressed with the kaleidescape movie service. Netflix, Hulu, Apple etc need to take note. How novel to be able to sort alphabetically, by director, release date or even duration!
My home theatre is used strictly for movies and uses a blu ray player. I have a separate viewing area if people want to watch sports or tv shows.
I can understand people wanting their theatre to act as a multifunctional space.
All households should have at least one.
hi. great setup. does the cupboard where all the amps are hiding heat up? did u install extraction fans or vents?

This is so informative, and impressive! Now, if i only had that set-up : )
I know it is kinda randomly asking but does anybody know of a good website to watch newly released movies online ?
@Alberto Messiah Try flixzone. You can find it by googling :)

The hole in the billiard lamp should have been motorized with a panel.
Good suggestion. There are some pros and cons to doing this. We often will avoid extra moving parts if we possibly can without hurting performance or aesthetics to just avoid a motor that could glitch or break. However, in this case you could argue that it would have been really cool to do and not that hard. However, what you can't see in the video very well is that there is very little room in the lamp for the projector--very little meaning almost zero space at the front and back of the lamp. Anticipating your next question, which should be "how does it stay cool then." So if you look in the video we left the top completely open in the lamp so there is nothing over the projector. We left just enough room at the front and back for the air to pull from the front above it through the projector and back out and up. So the only option would have been to put the motorized cover outside of the lamp which we felt would be aesthetically worse. Sorry for the long answer to a great question.
Really great video - great job Scott!
Thanks Andre!
awesome looking theater room\game room...
Thanks, John!
some day...I will throw 45k into a theater room :) Amazing room!
Thank you! We love being a part of these projects.
Ugly room, too much wood.
