I used to work for Mercedes, driven literally all of them, the E53 Coupe really is the best choice. Good combination of efficiency and speed. Perfect daily driver and has a good soundtrack too.
The E-Class Coupé and Cabriolet are SUPER underappreciated, these are so beautiful! An E53 Coupé would be my number one choice if I would buy a new Benz, but I would buy it with chrome trim and in green with the designo interior, that makes it look even more luxurious

It's a delightful and exhilarating experience, best served white with a straight six (or in this case, a straight eight). Buying a used one today, 2022 model AMG E53 Coupe, with 18000 km on the clock, wish me luck and I hope I will get it for the price in my mind, it will be a big battle with the salesman, not a Mercedes Benz dealer! Not giving more info as I don’t want anyone to beat me to it!!! I will post photos if asked and number plate as I’m getting one that suits this wonderful beast.
I’m with you Tom. Brown leather is the best. Saw one of these on the road today. Looks absolutely gorgeous, especially in white. Too bad it sounds like a Falcon/ Commodore. It’s 2-cylinders short of the ideal soundtrack.
Great review. I Agree, It’s a car for the Benz loyalists . The brown is the most appropriate interior, I think the red accents are hideous. I love the pillarless windows that when open justify the understated shape of the car. I love how they are a electric boosted 6, 63’s are a dime a dozen but these are for those people who have noting to prove. My next car when I have the strength to part with my current love. And the willingness to deal with the depreciation.
@@EastWood2004 everything's going electric. when you buy a car like this, you have 4 year / 80,000 KM warranty, or if you buy a CPO then you got 6 years / 120,000 KM warranty if something breaks, and it costs more than something that you imagined as a regular maintenance cost, you simply pay your deductible and get it fixed through insurance. these cars are rarely going to be kept 15+ years
Tom, I'd like to see you review the Mercedes AMG C 63 NOT C 63 S which has been reviewed into the ground. A review of C 63 v your comments on C 63 S and E 53 would be helpful as I'm in the market; even if it's just your thoughts with comparable photos. Lovely job on the E 53. Cheers!
Rear looks like the Renault Laguna coupe from many years ago that never made it to Australia. Neither, in my opinion, beat the peugeot 406 coupe on looks though. It's still a stunner.
Actually really nice car and presentation. This would be mo pick from their line up, i know people are saying it needs more power and stuf but idont agree. This is a perfect daily gt with nice engine sound looks luxury. If you want a car for track byuy a gt3 cayman.
After test driving both, I bought the E53 Saloon (Sedan). Bigger boot and better accommodation than the coupe but it also feels more solid. I suspect that the pilarless coupe loses a bit of rigidity. In 12,000 miles I have averaged 28.5 mpg and the car has been a blast.
So its a 640iX then? But on a serious note, I think they did well to to deliver a luxurious performance Sedan/Coupe. The interior design language has blended well, the new MBUX duel screens and the classic "waterfall" center console of past E series. If only the all wheel drive was switchable.
I like the fact that they've got an instrument cowling on this model, do you know if this is the plan going forward because otherwise other models without it just look as though the screens are just stuck there, also, they at least call this a coupe unlike the nomenclature for other models, that aren't true coupes. Outward styling is pretty nice also.
4.4sec fast enough to enjoy? I have a 5.2sec car and find it too boring as it hits legal limits too soon. I feel the balance point for Aus is around 6.5- 7sec and manual. At that place you really get to enjoy the acceleration/driving. I'm thinking of getting a manual Weekender, MX5, GTi or 86.
It’s certainly Merc’s best looking car right now, but such a pity it costs around three times as much as a V8 Mustang while giving similar performance.
I love this car! The only thing that annoys me is the cheap plastic looking diffuser. On the sedan version looks like it’s more gloss black than plastic so why couldn’t they do same for this one too!
Beautiful car. How much of the engine note is pumped in via speakers vs. reality? UA-cam is hardly the best sound engineering, but I got the impression that the full sound was fake? Maybe the real sound 'enhanced' by electronics? What is your real life advice?
Definitely some, but it’s more there to make the actual noises louder. When I drove the convertible version with the roof down, all the genuine noises were truly audible and sounded great
I like it but can’t help to think that a 560 non-AMG version would be more in character for the car. Personally, if they did I would probably buy one to replace my CLS500. As it is, I’m just not sure.
Is it just me or is there an alignment issue between the taillights and the tailgate insert lights? It was the one thing making my OCD go into overdrive
not really. its entry level amg and it stands out. people see regular mercedes-benz all day. when you see an AMG and its not a 63s it provokes your attention. also much more manageable, livable, and a little bit less expensive than an all out 8 cyl AMG
No bloody wonder fuel economy in most modern cars these days is RUBBISH. Modern overly stringent Emission controls are costing us all so much more at the bowser!!!
The facelift ruined it. The older version had 2 gorgeous LED lights this has one with 2 stupidly small dots…who the hell thought that was a good idea. The older version also had full screen apple carplay, this doesnt.
i mean, maybe if talking about an rs7, or an r8, but dont you think the rest of the audi lineup is somewhat washed up? the A5 S5 and RS5 been looking identical for almost 10 years now. the 3 line is so small, idk, MERCEDES interior VS Audi... clear winner
@@emanaqeel5259 those cars that you mentioned are the same cars in the sense that the only difference is that they are variants of each other with very small aesthetic differences that can often go unnoticed to an untrained eye. It’s the technological difference that separates those three cars that you mention. Those cars are similar to the 911 not in technology or performance but in the sense that the design language rarely changes in the years since its debut because it has been shown to be a winning formula
I dont know the Merc range well . Seems the E53 and C63 are the samish price and to the casual eye look very much the same yea but the C has a bomb load more grunt so I get your question and am now wondering myself. Is it the 2 door thing?
Both very cool cars, but the biggest difference comes down to the way they drive - C63 is super brawny, loud and stiff. E53 is much more supple, balanced and very quick, but not super fast. More of a grand tourer than a muscle car. Choose your poison!
Electric assisted combustion engines are the pinnacle of reliable and efficient transport, the V6 would have been just as good if it has the support system in place, the E series coupe is quite elegant with areas of improvement such as the retarded side door that fails to give better access to the rear passengers, if you look at the ZL1 Camaro door profile it is perfectly placed with even spacing between the wheel arches. The E series coupe should have offered a V12 6.6 Ltr and rear massage and reclining seats because luxury shouldn't be limited to the front row and Mercedes should know better after 💯 years of fuck ups. I would also expect a wider cab space by now given the legal width is 2400 mm and most Mercedes are just scraping past 1900 mm like they were designed by a Vaccinated idiot with chained elephant 🐘 syndrome. The GLE coupe SUV has the same benefits and same design flaws and could also improve by being a real 2 door coupe. Considering Mercedes Benz bought the company that produces the electronic stealth drive boost they could have provided more power and efficiency but again the retarded mindset to provide just enough and a little bit more next time to milk sales from idiots that don't know any better. I give it 6/10 because I am in a good mood and know better

I would mate, but sorry to say Mercedes-AMG have exclusively sold the “S” variant of the C63 here in Australia for a number of years. No non-S for us.

The price is higher than M550i but M550i is faster and more powerful. We pay extra for the interior elegance.
M550i is a sedan while this E53 is a coupe which incomparable in term of their pricing & segments.
That coupe is derived from E53 amg sedan so they share the same powertrain. E53 amg is 6 cyl so its powertrain is inferior to that of M550i.
