Teri passed away today. Someone, somewhere needs to know that her comedic stylings brought me comfort so many times when I was feeling down and out. Thanks Teri, you will always be remembered as a wonderful, beautiful, and utterly hilarious woman.
Teri Garr was such an integral part of the regular guest list on Letterman. Such a beautiful lady with an entertaining spirit. Sad news today, may she Rest In Peace and my Condolence’s to her family, and friends, plus all of the fan’s around the world, of which, i am one. 🥺💔🥺🙏
Did you know that she suffered from multiple sclerosis at this point in life already? It became worse later but a good reminder that you never know what such lovely, talky people are going through in real life, in their actual personal life.
Was she actually diagnosed by this point? I read that she started experiencing symptoms in ‘82 while making Tootsie, but I’m not sure when she actually found out she had it.
I first noticed Teri in the 70's TV series McCloud. She took a small role as Sgt Phyllis Norton and made it memorable. It became a recurring role because of her comedic talent. I will forever be enamored of her adorable quirky ways, and her too overlooked talent. RIP Teri. You're a supernova to me.
Teri has this essence that's just unforgettable. When I see these two makes me wish I lived through the 80s! If you talk to her Dave, please tell her that there are fans out there that love her and wish her the best!
I absolutely adore Teri. She is the model of what looks/ personality is all about. She is just the sweetest thing. She can match wits with Dave all day.
Listening to Teri discussing the 84 debate and being frightened by the rather benign interaction between Mondale and Hart and thinking that it would be impossible for her or anyone else in 1984 to believe what todays political discourse would be like, even among presidential contenders.
I do appreciate her sensitivities to her most correct concern...focusing on the emotional content verses policies. That today is our Reality... truth vrs emotions.... I Am concerned for our country's future 2022.
I loved Teri Garr. A friend told me yesterday that she passed, and I was very sorry to hear that, and we talked about the Star Trek episode she was in, and I mentioned that she was fantastic in the movie "Sting 2", and he said that he didn't know that there was a "Sting 2", but Teri was beautiful, classy and talented!
Her persona was indeed lovable...it was interesting to me, that she really would not talk much about her dating/married life....she was hiding something...but why? Anyway, she was such a charming, gorgeous woman-a work of Art, really!...Why it was her Fate, to wither away with MS, is making me so angry at whoever/whatever made us so imperfect! I feel sorry for Dave...he once said, "I would marry this woman, if she would only have me"! I can relate, Dave!
Just heard about the passing of Terri Garr. The reports failed to mention that she played on the Sonny & Cher show. She was very funny, Rest In ✌️✌️✌️...
Loved those 2 together. He had her on near his final show i think. She was really suffering from her illness at this point but she made it. God love her.
Man, I loved the banter and chemistry between Teri and Dave. Remember the time Teri took a shower at the NBC offices? As a fan I wish both Teri and Dave all the best. Also, it was a hoot when in in the summer of 1986 that Dave successfully encouraged a waiter to sit down and bathe while fully clothed at the base of a huge water fountain while on duty at a restaurant at Rockefeller Center.
Yeah! The one where he sent the audience home because the studio was too hot. I couldn't believe the 10 pizzas he ordered cost $130, which worked out to be TWICE the price of a pizza sold at the places in my neighborhood in Jersey at the time!
I love Terri Garr to pieces! I think she and I are both really close in age and her performance in “Young Frankenstein” turned me into a blob of hormonal, suicidal, fantasies that persist to this day. God bless her. What a babe.
One of my and the audiences' favorite guests. I wish her well, as her MS took a toll. A great dancer and you can see it in the Coppola film "one from the heart", dancing with Raul Julia. Her autobiography speaks on th at and it's a good read. A multi talented, under rated STAR!! *Should have one the Oscar for Tootsie. (nominated supporting actress)⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I always liked seeing Teri Garr on Dave’s show. I know she had to retire from acting due to health problems caused by having MS, which is really sad, so I wish her all the best.
Terri was such a gorgeous young woman back then that I used to watch her appearances on the show in a kind of stupefied gaze. I can understand why Dave & Terri had a personal relationship around 1990.
@@jammiedodger Yep, it's public knowledge as it's reflected on many websites with information about various celebrities. Ex-girlfriends include "Merrill Markoe (1978-1988), Holly Hester, Stephanie Birkitt, Terri Garr, Bonnie Hunt".
David actually got her to get in a shower at the end of one show. I don't know how planned that was but it sure made for interesting tv. Letterman was so much better when he wasn't being overtly political.

Fell in love with Teri watching what became my favourite Stat Trek episode: Assignment Earth. I thought she was Shirley McLaine at the start of the episode. As it turns out Shirley is the bizarro version Teri.
I've loved Dave for a long time. Today's folk don't get him. And that's okay. And Teri... so beautiful, so real and SO FUNNY. I will never forget her role in Star Trek -- the original series. She was so adorable.
It's possible today's folk "get" him and just don't care for him. I know I was never a big fan. But I will agree with you about Teri. Bubbly personality and a beautiful smile. Definitely wife material.
Teri - thanks for being my crush before I even knew what that was. Having been in Young Frankenstein and After Hours - 2 of my top top faves when I was young - and to this day. Great upload!!! Wonderful to see this after all these years. Classic 80s Dave is the best.
I was blessed to be born long after Ms Garr which gave me the opportunity to see her in many theatrical and cinematic roles. My favorite is Young Frankenstein if that makes any difference.
Her book Speedbumps helped me alot I enjoyed it because I can relate to her and also Annette Funicello They were friends and I also relate to Annette, loved her in so many things like The Mickey Mouse Club and many of her movies. They were role models for me!!
Teri has said MS is not passed down in families but it is. People that stressed themselves physical have a precursor to it and if it has been in the family either side father a mother you could get it.❤
She reminds me of the character, Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow - actress), from the series, Friends. Her mannerisms, laugh, sense of humor and even her voice are very similar.
Oh *yes*-for sure! I had noticed that, too. Such a striking resemblance-in both appearance and quirky wit…Teri could have passed for Lisa’s “real-life” mom! While some commenter in here had stated that Teri had already contracted multiple sclerosis at the time she appeared in this Letterman episode, you’d never have known it at the time (not sure if it was even true or not). I _did_ learn, however, that she was stricken with MS, by middle-age… In fact, her symptoms were visible in those couple of Friends appearances (the camera angles masked her limp, best they could).
Teri's performances in Tootsie and Young Frankenstein in particular are great examples of her talent. She was one of Dave Letterman's most entertaining guests and they clearly liked each other.
I had such a crush on Teri Garr back then. She will be missed. I realize Teri Garr’s an actress and worked in Hollywood, but I'm impressed that she quickly named two films that Lillian Gish starred in - two films that were released over a hundred years ago (around 70 years ago when this aired). (And yes, I checked that her answers were correct - “Birth of a Nation” in 1915, and “Intolerance” in 1916.)
Wow she was talking about an old lady who happened to be 78 at the time of the interview….and she said “ well we don’t know how she feels I guess we will know when we get there….” Little did Teri garr know that she was going to pass away at about that age….
One of my favorite actors of all time.

@@clairearan505 she had that magic 🪄
I knew her as terrys mom on Batman beyond
❤ Her voice reminds me of Lisa Kudrow's.
Teri Garr and Lisa Kudrow were perfectly matched as mother and daughter in "Friends." Their voices, especially their laugh, are almost identical.
They look alike too!!!
The whole body language and facial expression too!
I agree! they were perfected for each other!
she reminds me of her so much I just assumed it was her mom before the internet was a thing and I could find out
Even the mannerisms it’s uncanny 😁😁😁
I'm absolutely devastated. Amazing actress and so beautiful. A real one of a kind!

@@keefriff99 she kept it hidden well into 2000’s. I think when she took shots was around the early 90’s.

Exactly. The Letterman interviews with her were so enjoyable to watch.

So sweet and unpretentious, much appreciated given the film industry she works in
Listening to Teri discussing the 84 debate and being frightened by the rather benign interaction between Mondale and Hart and thinking that it would be impossible for her or anyone else in 1984 to believe what todays political discourse would be like, even among presidential contenders.
you said it!
I do appreciate her sensitivities to her most correct concern...focusing on the emotional content verses policies.
That today is our Reality... truth vrs emotions.... I Am concerned for our country's future 2022.
Let us take a moment to imagine the political discourse in 2060.
Oh, for sure... The mid-80s were a different universe--and a far *better* one, at that!
There was nothing more inconsequential than those debates though.... Ronald Reagan CRUSHED the eventual winner.
