Cheeka, You are absolutely right when you said that a lot of Indians were hoping (perhaps irrationally) that there would be some magic by Kohli, Rahane etc in the last day. Instead of that, the batters folded abjectly, without putting up any fight. Shameful, indeed.
Following Cheeky Cheeka for past 3-4 Years. As Per Cheeka, India will be the favorites against all the opposition in an tournament and India will win all the matches. According to him, all the oppositions are "Dummy/Pottalam side" even the Aussies. After the defeat in each and every tournament for past 3yrs he will say "Enna da Indha pasanga, mattamaana cricket aadraanga". Even for this WTC Final he said the same before the game. He needs to talk like a expert not as a fan boy 🙂

We qualified on the basis of defeating bdesh, srilanka and barely scraping thru the Ind Aus series on rank turners.
Leaving Ravi Ashwin was the worst decision making by Rohit & Team Management. Instead of Umesh, Definitely Ashwin have to be played then probably we would become World Champions. He is capable of bowling well across all conditions.
Agreed he is good bowling in India but abroad no way he is better. last WTC he played what happend did India win? this match also same nothing would have happend. Only thing now is since he has not played he is getting the credits. If you analyze properly Dhodyonam getting majority of his wickets only in India whereas Lyon gets wickets in seaming pitches as Aussies play very little series in the subcontinent of India, Pakistan, SL and Bangladesh. Like preiviously Kapil dev used to play most matches in India but still get wickets.

Issues:
1) Top order(lack of left handers)
2) Inclusion of Umesh Yadav.
3) Not giving a debut cap to kishan who seemed to be an aggressive player like pant.
4) Too many runs given in the first innings.
5) Irresponsible shots by players like Rohit,pujara and kohli(repeating mistakes again and again).
6) IPL Schedule(too long)
7) No practice matches before a big game.
Time to create a new generation players.

We were hoping that Kholi and Rahane would get us closer to the cup as much as possible, but we should also give credits to the Australian bowlers who performed very well. I personally feel if Ashwin had been part of the playing 11, there might have been a possibility for team India in pulling down the first innings score which would have been very crucial for Indian batsman. Also, given the fact that Nathon Lyon made crucial break through in the first inning's and acted as catalyst in breaking the backbone in the 2nd innings is very evident how crucial spinner like Ashwin can be for the team. An opportunity denied is an opportunity created to think about the future Test team.

if we see outside perspective, Australia is a well deserved team to win, they prepared well before this final and executed the plans....and with warner who is hanging for the position, just for the final they need experience so they didnt drop, whereas our team dropped ashwin who is one of the main reason why we came to final...as if our team thinks that our batters step up in every knockouts ...its our batters is/was letting down the team for the 10 years yet the bowlers getting bashed and removed from the squad...

Brilliant madness from BCCI. Only one week for team preparation and to change mindset from BCCI IPL to ICC Test. While Indian players were happily collecting their paychecks and playing IPL, 8 out of the starting 11 Australians were ready in England preparing for representing their country. We lost this match before it even began. Do we even really care for playing for our country anymore ?

Cheeks is so pleased about India's test match record in the last few years. He is missing the point namely that the top order batsmen are contributing precious little.
India's batting seems to begin from No.6 or 7 . Even in the first innings, only Jadeja and Thakur came to India's rescue.They cannot be expected to perform everytime.
Dear Cheeka, I fully agree with you. I am also like you and other Indians felt very bad about our performance. We can loose after a good fight. With the experience and commitment Koili should’ve taken India to the winning post as he is described as the best chasing king! Poor selection of team is one side. But nobody would forget that we at Brisbane with players like Natarajan and Washington Sundar fought like anything against the Aus mighty bowling attack and created a history. The commitment showed by players including net bowlers like Natarajan and Sundar was terrific. I am afraid whether players like Umesh Yadav knows meaning of commitment. The discipline was not there to bowl a tight line and length to make the batsmen to err. Even players like Pujara, Rohit, Koili attitude towards commitment comes down. After IPL how Rahane adjusted himself for playing Test match. Main reasons for our failure : 1) team selection 2) lack of commitment and temperament of our players. I am sorry dear Srikkanth I also feel very bad about our very poor performance.
Anirudha is more pragmatic in his comments and i really like his approach... Legend Srikanth is more of hopeful in his approach and is bit away from reality... It's really a balanced way of approaching sports!

I agree with Ani where Indian players need a extra time to adapt the red ball. Even if you take a mind cricket the players (like shami, gill, Rohit, kholi) who lost in ipl also be little low in their mind as well and came with a losing momentum. But however India not played enough well.

1st innings - bowlers were too bad u can't give 469 and say batters to chase down. Allowing smith atleast ok but head at that sr it's bad. Batters could have done better.
2nd innings - bowlers did good at top order again failed in lower order. Carey 100+ runs is a blunder
Captaincy and coaching- no plans worked, no aura in the field. Only vk and siraj kept the crowd going . When india bowled it was only silence. Most of the times. Rohith didn't do much talking.
Bowlers - aus bowlers bowled 2 bouncers every over we bowled 2 full lengths every time.
Batsman - bad selection of shots, pujara no words on that shot. Bowlers made more mistake 400+ is high.
@ Cheeka, I'm surprised to hear about your comments reg Australian bowlers. Ani is doing his homework properly. I have been following Boland for years. He is a such a great asset to the National team. He has been a consistent bowler for Victoria. Australia have good bench strength with bowlers. Thanks to them for not adding Nesser in the playing 11. He is a great allrounder. Unfortunately, he couldn't get a chance. Also, Meredith is a good fast bowler. Jyhe Richardson is there. Their second three fast bowlers are Boland, Nesser and Jyhe Richardson......I bet we would struggle against these three too.
as Cheeka said, i too was telling my kids that we are going to see some history being made. But the moment Kohli got out, I told them we lost the match. Almost everyone would have had similar hope to the max. We lost the match after the bowling change in first day. The hostility provided by Shami and Siraj was given away by umesh and thakur. From there it was a downhill. There is no plan B.

Best stand up wicketkeeper for Rishabh Pant would be N.Jagadeesan for India. He is a very good player of Spin, Adapts easily to different conditions. Has a world record in domestic matches, and a fine WK as well, groomed by MSD for 4yrs. Slightly a slow starter, eventually a technically strong batter, difficult to get rid off him, once set. Best long format WK Batsman in my opinion, they should give him a try, it will work out definitely. Cheeka Sir ur thoughts???

Time to think beyond Rohit, Pujara, Kohli, Rahanae and Ashwin? They all are in the age of 35-36 years. How long they can play and how much cricket do they have? What we are missing is the century from the top and middle order batsman in overseas conditions. Again at home,, we failed to score runs as compared to Australian batsman. Axar Patel was the man who saved us from defeat and performed well with both bat and ball. In overseas conditions, we were fighting with lower order batting contribution from Pant, Ashwin and Shammi (one 50 in England and took key wickets) on few occasions.
Why did they not include Ashwin in playing XI? Is Umesh Yadav better bowler than Ashwin? Why India is not producing a fast bowling all rounder like Cameron Green, Jac. Kallis, Ben Stokes and Kapil Dev? Instead of selecting Ishan Kisan, They could have included Hardik pandya and even in the playing XI.
