What should I do? Leave suggestions &
Hey Derek!! I don’t think it looks that bad! Maybe for the rear get a bigger side profile/aspect ratio?!? Like a 40 ?! Should close that gap a bit!! They look good imo!
The 315/35/17 will definitely give you a gap usually the rear tires goes smaller on side wall cuz the car is dropped more so they do that to not rub but I’m sure if you put a meatier tires on the rear it will clear that gap definitely a 45 or 50 side wall would do
Don’t forget to mention the KMJ alternators have lifetime warranties!!
Yeah, I think the stockies look better. The new rears don’t look aggressive @ all.
You need to go 18s. Any deep dish wheel should be 18s or 19s. 17s only look good if your slammed. I have 18” AFS Cobra Reps (check profile pic) and they sit just perfect. A great 18” deep dish wheel is Cosmis XT005R and they look nice on these cars.
The rear tire size is fine. The problem is the big 275/40s up front. Go with a 255/40 to get more of a raked look. Also the reason the rear looks smaller than the front is because you have the deep dish rear and stock fronts. The spokes of the wheel are more set in almost giving the illusion that the wheel is smaller.
I personally love cobra wheels, I have a 95 GT convertible and even tho it had the 5 soft spoke best looking OEM wheels but that's not saying much but I found some decent knock off 95 Cobra R 18x9 chrome wheels I bought 265/35 tires and I also put 1.5" spacers in the rear and 1" spacers on the front and wow total transformation! It looks so badass. Unfortunately I hit a pothole and put a flat spot in the front rim, 35s are not ideal in maine but they look so nice, so I need a rim but after seeing it with these 18x9s I really want a couple 18x10 with the dish for the rears, any tire starting with a 3 are pretty pricey but looking I see a 285/30 pretty affordable. Seems there's waaaay more tire choices for 17" for some reason but I so love the look of 18s. Black rims are the in finish these days and I've seen some dropped murdered out ones with black wheels look pretty sick but i personally don't really care for the black wheel look and Lazer red, white top with those chrome cobra 18s sparkling in the sun looks pretty sexy imo.
@DerekBaranProductions 40 is a taller tire which closes the gap more cause obv the rear is now a 35 sidewall which is smaller, i love the way it looks but i agree with you on the weird look. I say just swap the tire's with a 40 sidewall and it will look just right, btw on blueifer are you running the 19x10/19x11 SVE R355 setup? thanks in advance. Great video as always.
I absolutely love those wheels, in fact I have always said I would do that same wheel setup on my 03/04 Cobra if I ever got one. I hopefully will be adding one to my garage with my Shelby in a year or 2…
You should have went with the 18” AFS replica wheels like on my car! They are the “right look” for a better than oem look.
Full Tilt has come out with good low profile IRS bolts that have a stock style head on it. Can't link them here. If you are not happy with your stock ground down bolts they are $20
Bro I love that flat face up front and the lip in the back, but you need to run a 315/45/17 in the rear and that will fill in that wheel gap. You could probably even get away with a 305/45/17
I totally understand what you mean by the weird look of the rear tires, they're definitely to small, probably best to upsize the rear tire, orrr downsize the fronts to a 35 sidewall, either should make it look better. But with smaller tires you probably wanna lower it more. Either or bro they look clean I'm glad you're going with a purist look on the cobra it's gonna look perfect when you dial it in!!
I had the same wheels on my 04 Terminator. Had a 275 front tire and 335 rear. Absolutely loved the stance! I have missed that car everyday since I sold it.
looks good man. I think it would look better with the matching fronts and it definitely needs a taller tire in the rear, but it looks better than stock for sure
I did H&R reds…and 25 mm spacers in the back..which by the way gets rid of any wheel hop…the wheels are original Ford Racing FR500 wheels…which went out of production in 2008..nice Cobra…keep up the good work…😀😀
The 18” set would definitely look better in my opinion but try a 40 sidewall if you’re going to keep them. Sounds like a very small difference but you will definitely see a difference. My 03 mach1 had 35 sidewalls and my buddys 04 gt had 40 and it was a huge difference looking at em next to eachother. And if that wheel gap still doesn’t go away maybe try take out the rear spring isolators and just wrap the top and bottom of the springs with electrical tape to ensure no creaky noises. That should give u maybe a quarter to half an inch too.
Damn that alternator KMJ killed it! I’d like one for my 10GT500
Bro. It’s a point of perspective…if you ran larger spacers on those originals you had in the back, you’d see the same gap. I think, in my opinion here, enjoy it now, and when it’s right get you the coil overs you want for Medusa. OR…you could cut your springs one full coil, depending on how low you want it. THEN, still need it lowered?…cut .5 coil out of it and check that out. Good luck my brother. Good catch on those set of wheels too. OH!…one more thing: stock 245/45/17 are 25.7” tall. Those 315/35/17?…yep. Same. 25.7” tall.
