Hi Rob. Great video for the newbie. Any chance you could do a video on Thinners. Because many video's out there saying "use thinners" but not saying they mean solvents (acetone, benzene, toluene xylenes etc. Nor do they say it's 'alcohol' like anhydrous ethanol or IPA. I think this subject is where people get gunged up airbrushed or destroyed paints. I know it could be a big area to cover. Just a thought. 😮 Hope you keep up the good work.
"Beginners" and what they/we need/want is what you should focus on. Personally, I'd like to see from start to finish process. I mean right from the beginning of picking the subject of a portrait, to putting it on the grid, picking your specific colours and so on and giving an opportunity to follow. Oh, and leaving links to products used is good form. Thanks for this one.
I smashed my dominant hand 5 weeks ago. Dr says it will be 6 months to a yr before I’m back to normal. She told me to keep pain ting and writing. So I feel like a beginner again with my Ulta. So I really enjoyed this video
Thank you for the video. Found your video looking at airbrushing but for plastic miniatures. Appreciate all the steps you went through. Keep up the great work!
Hi Rob, This was the first time watching any of your videos. I want to thank you for making it easy to understand with being very clear with all of the information you shared. You have helped me so much with just this 1 Video and can not wait to check out the others you have on your channel. I took and airbrushing course at our Community College years ago (25 years) but with 3 kids, life got in the way of continuing after the course was finished. Watching this video, did spark some memories of those classes, so Thank you for that as well. 🙂 Thank you for being a great instructor & sharing your valuable knowledge.
Good beginner video on airbrushing, Useful tips and information, thanks for that. My journey into the world with airbrush is just starting with ultra 2024, so there is information in the video that I can really use for something. 🙂👍

Best video I've watched so far. I'm a complete noob. New to air brushing because I just bought a 3d printer & hoping to sell the odd hand painted model to recuperate the cash I spent after selling a kidney to pay for the set up. Can u plz show how to vent the compressor plz? That would be amazing.
Thank you so much for this video. I am in the process to get involved in air brush [aint. I do model trains and looking to do weathering on models with some (not many) armor models.
Cheers for this. I just got my first airbrush yesterday and although I’d done a shed load of research, it’s good to have all this here in the one video to remind me. One thing I did do different, after setting everything, was to spray some water through to check it was all working okay. My thinking was, if there was a defect straight from the factory and I stripped it down, I would be thinking it was because of something I had done wrong whilst putting it back together and not that there was already something wrong with the airbrush (like a missing o ring or something) Was glad I did as, although it was fine with just air, soon as I put the water in, it bubbled in the cup (which would have been right messy if I’d used paint straight off!) I automatically checked the front cap and it was a little bit loose. Tightened it up, and it stopped bubbling but was pulsing slowly with the spray so I tightened it up a bit more (still with my fingers) and that seemed to sort that as well thankfully as the pulsing was more of a concern than the bubbling for some reason 🤷🏻♂️(prob because I was worried that opened up a whole new possibility, with the compressor maybe being the cause lol) So I’m now up n running and already done me first portrait! Well, I say portrait, it was really just a smiley face but it’s a start 😆 Just got to avoid the temptation of diving in and spraying my models before I get fully used to using the brush with some of those exercises! Tbh, not sure if it is just me or the Ultra, but that trigger sequence does just feel natural. Again, thanks for all the vids and tips. Has been really helpful. And sorry for gibbering on (if any of it is gibberish, it’s 1:30am and I’m knackered so sorry for that as well lol)
Since this is your first airbrush, I have a tip for you. Go to your local grocery store, and buy a bottle of food coloring. It is a great substitude for paint while getting used to the airbrush, and way cheaper.
Hi rob, thought your video was brilliant. I am a complete newbie looking start airbrushing but I will be spraying trainers and customising them once I've got the technique. With what you've put in this video would it be the same principles, like the airbrush , compressor? I've watched a lot of vids on UA-cam on trainers but yours has been the most informative. The paints I've researched its just the airbrush, rite compressor and what psi setting to use. If you have any information or links that you could point me in the rite direction, would be amazing. No worries if you havnt, your vids are ro the point and very good, thanks Rich
