This is what my content is geared towards. I admit 100% I’m doing things unorthodox for sure. It’s not a cookie cutter channel anymore. There’s other channels who do and say the same stuff every week. Im trying to bring honestly, transparency and just being real at the end of the day. My target audience is newer collectors to hot toys in hopes I can help anyone who needs it
Super great info: much wisdom here. I would add from my own failures: Dont get swayed by reviews and you-tube channels. During the pandemic (there was a lot of fomo going on) and now many of the fomo figures are still available to purchase, ie Cap Endgame, Rex, etc. I would like to concur with being patient, your spot on. That was one of my mistakes. I spent full retail on several figures that I couldve purchased for big discounts. Lastly, buy what you love, getting a figure, statue because its cool doesnt warrant your hard earned money. Love it or leave it: IMO.
100% agree with you! 2020 was an interesting time with people I feel relying more on reviews to make purchases and as you said much of those figures are still sitting or plummeting in value like the avengers infinity line or endgame
I used to day 1 preorder all the time. I'm glad I don't do that anymore 🤣 I started my collecting with sideshow only, then it branched out to like 6 different stores, now I'm down to sideshow for daily deals/hot toys/statues, BBTS for Mezco and NECA, and Kit for inart and lim toys. Another mistake I've made was displays. I've spend so much money on different display types before settling on wall shelves for the figures and garage shelves for statues.
Thanks for this, all were good suggestions. The one that I started doing recently was giving myself a cooling off period before pre-ordering. I used to do PO’s immediately if I saw something I liked, now I will wait a month and see if I am still excited about a figure, if so then I pre-order.
Not a hot toy collector but as a 1/12th collector, your vid was still extremely helpful! The mistakes you've made are similar to mine. My biggest mistake was in the beginning I didn't spend enough time to think about what I actually want to collect and was buying every Star Wars the Black Series figure I saw. Now I've realised I want other IPs in my collection so I'm selling off the excess Star Wars figures to ensure I have the necessary space to collect from other IPs such as Marvel. Sorry for the paragraph and thank you for the video! Nice beard btw lol!
1. Buy in Toys Wonderland 2. Buy to many without space 3. R2D2 Sideshow, my worst figure. 4. I didn't pull the trigger in the right time and I missed figures.
Yeah I try to not have duplicate figure policy to keep me in check, even though I have two iron man figures, and two Spider-Man figures now but those are different since it’s Andrew/Tobey
I stopped collecting to complete years and years ago. I have this imagine in my head of what I want to display and I try to go off of that. It’s still a level of ocd completionism, but at least it’s not entirely set by a company’s production model.
Lool what are the odds that I subscribed like I subscribed right before clicking on the video! I’ve been watching for a while though I’m a big fan sorry for not subscribing sooner!
My #1 mistake was FOMO buying that limited edition Spider-Man. $340 for a meh figure. #2 was ordering from SS for so long. I recently started buying a majority of HT figs from other sellers that offer a discount, don't charge tax, and have cheaper shipping. SS is such as large business there's no reason why they need to charge almost $20 to ship a figure.
I stay away from shows and buying sets per movie. I stick with the Icons, unless it’s Batman and Joker. I look at the hobby the way I look at comics…..1st appearances
When I started I made too many impulsive purchases, pulling the trigger on some figures that, in the long run don't even have them anymore. Later my thought process was if I have to find a reason to buy it, then I really don't need it. Then only duplicates I do sometimes are of Ɓatman figures😎 cause you can never have to much Ɓatman😎🦇
For me, as a beginner in Hot Toys collecting, your advice is truly insightful.

Great comment thank you!
My favorite HT’s are the 1 offs. It just seems to work, especially when you’re displaying 1 figure per shelf
I like the one offs also I must say or the “Randos” I call them lol

Great video I think as collectors we are all guilty of these mistakes you mentioned. I think I have grown and learned from mistakes & bad habits.
Making mistakes is part of life and admitting them is never a bad thing. Sharing our experiences just helps others! Knowledge is power!
Some great tips again here mate!!! Think my only regret is when I’ve sold Hot Toys and then wanted them back so had to rebuy!! 😅
Thanks so much my friend! Same thing here sold some figures I kinda wish I had back
1. Buy in Toys Wonderland
2. Buy to many without space
3. R2D2 Sideshow, my worst figure.
4. I didn't pull the trigger in the right time and I missed figures.
That #1 is a killer
Being very selective, not collecting whole lines and pre-ordering unless I'm dead certain. I totally agree with.
Thanks so much! 🤙🫡
Great advice for all collectors.
Thank you for the comment friend! I hope you are doing well it’s been a while!
My only mistakes are Getting screwed over by Toys Wonderland, and space issues for both figures and boxes.
Yeah I try to not have duplicate figure policy to keep me in check, even though I have two iron man figures, and two Spider-Man figures now but those are different since it’s Andrew/Tobey
Same here, I do have multiples but have cut down drastically since
I stopped collecting to complete years and years ago. I have this imagine in my head of what I want to display and I try to go off of that. It’s still a level of ocd completionism, but at least it’s not entirely set by a company’s production model.
Can’t agree more! I broke the mentality a while back of having to complete a line instead I’m just getting select figures
Thanks for everything. How do decide which figures you don’t need to preorder but still want because they m “may sit awhile”? Appreciate it.
It’s a dangerous game for sure, and I think having backup sites is important so if I do let something go on sideshow I have other sources to grab it
Preordering too much and early was one of my mistake for sure that I am trying to be better now
Unfortunately hot toys making less stock so you almost have no choice but to p.o early, well maybe not day 1 more like a few months later it seems
Same here! I don’t day 1 a lot anymore and try to pay off prior to ordering more so stuff isn’t stacked up
Great tips brother thanks 🙏
Thank you fellow Gbuster! 🤙🫡

Great point! I also have been buying much more off of sideshow and have been saving a good amount of $$$
