  • Step 1 remove the valve body before the bellhousing
    This is a partial tear down on a 6L80 turns out the failure was the pump.

    Can you tell me if there is a difference between that transmission and the Chevrolet 6L80-E found in the Caprice PPV?

      There are differences between internal components from model to model of the 6l80. They had many changes to the internal parts between 2006 and 2015.

      @@southfloridatechnicaltrain2589 I guess the root of my question was, for police pursuit vehicles (PPV) do they beef up internals? Do they do anything special or are they just the same as passenger car trannies?

      @@southfloridatechnicaltrain2589 do you know if there is a difference in PPV transmissions from standard civilian models? I had thought that the extra letter in the transmission model was specific to Police pursuit vehicles, maybe beefed up internals or something

      @@ThisManTriggeredMe Dont hold me to it but there is also a 6L90 that is the heavy-duty version. I would want that in police vehicle but cannot say what they use.
