New Found Glory - Cyrus Bolooki Official - Drum Playthrough - "My Friends Over You" - 7-27-2023

If you ever wanted to know how I get ready for a tour, here's your proof...this video was filmed at a personal practice session at a local rehearsal studio in South Florida. In order to get ready for tours, I book time at this studio, throw in my in-ear monitors hooked up to my phone/laptop, and put on...you guessed it...NFG songs!
A few things to keep in mind here:
Since this is a rehearsal studio, I AM NOT using my usual SJC Drums kit. Yes, this is a Tama kit. No, I'm not switching over to them nor do I have any plans to stop endorsing SJC Drums. This is merely done out of convenience, as this is the "house kit" setup in the room when you arrive. I DO, however, bring my own cymbals (all Zildjian; see list below for specifics), sticks (Vater Percussion NUDE 5B wood tip) and hardware (all DW 9000 series hardware) to use.
If you're wondering what I'm hearing when I play along, I'm listening to the audio that you hear in this video. The clicks you hear at the beginning of the audio track is something I do with all of our music in order to "prep" it to listen to while rehearsing -- I take the album audio track, drop it in a DAW on a computer, and manually add the clicks before the song starts. There are NO click tracks going on while I play, I'm just jamming along to the album audio just like so many of you do!
Lastly, you will notice that some parts/beats are different than the album. These are done on purpose, either because I've developed those parts/fills throughout the 20+ years we've been playing the song, or that's just the way I like to play them. Or, for instance, at the top of the 2nd chorus, that's how we play it live and remember, this rehearsal is for me to get ready for a tour, so I will often play songs in their "live" versions to remind me of these random changes that we've made in our show.
