The removable mask is the coolest feature. I hope they can do that for Optimus or any other faceplated character someday. Hasbro is really stepping up their game for Transformers.

Glad I subscribed to your channel. I didn't know this version of Skyfire existed. To me this is the perfect version to fit in with a Voyager class sized collection. He may be small as a leader class but he'll be fairly massive in a voyager class, with Optimus, Megatron, etc..

This is a leader class jetfire that is as tall as MP10 then does that mean that the leader class generations megatron is gonna be the same height as well. If so than that means there will be a g1 resembling megatron to scale with mp10 finally

Well i'm honest in my videos because what most people don't seem to understand, is that none of us are actually SPONSORED by BBTS. A lot of us have them attached to us, but not a lot of people explain things. We aren't sponsored really. They simply buy ad space on our videos. That's all. When I get him, I will be displaying him in a more Skyfire look...just not feeling the mask, glad it comes off. A much better look at this figure than Spada, thanks :)
Haha, you are about as fond as I am of flaunting your G1 Jetfire. Next to MP Soundwave and Fort Max it's my fav for TF purchases this year. This figure beckons me to tip my hat to Hasbro which doesn't happen often. The modernization of a classic while staying true to both his robot and alt modes is exemplary! I am a fan of the classics version but this is amazing. I would even go so far as to say that he'll stand next to my G1 Jetfire on my MASTERPIECE shelf but, he'll have the Skyfire face on. Awesome Paul, thanks for this! Made my Thursday!
I'm loving the new intro! This figure is still a must have for me. I think the swivel joint on the cannon section is for having it face up in robot mode. If you look on the boxart, you can really see that. It still gives you options!
Not sure if it's been brought up in the comments yet, but the only thing keeping Hasbro from putting out a "G1 looking" Jetfire/Skyfire is the fact that they would need to license the likeness from the designers of the G1 toy again. The "Lawsuit" that Botimus mentions can never be brought to court again If he is referring to Harmony Gold, as they had their last attempt to sue Hasbro thrown out/back at them.
Yes and no. They could do a G1 looking Skyfire anytime they want. They created that character. It was the G1 toy they would have a problem being able to reproduce.

Which is what I had been referring to, as the G1 toy is a Macross Valkyrie figure. Which, I believe, is owned by Bandai, who is Hasbro's biggest competitor, so I don't think we'll be seeing a re-issued G1 Jetfire figure any time soon.
optibotimus I disagree because the original toy was brought over from Rick Hunters Veritech Fighter from Macross/Robotech.

Danger zone absolutely slayed me!
I didn't have much interest in this toy, the fake cockpit and chrome killed it for me but after watching this video, I can buy the under-cockpit as something like a camera or sensor or something and the chrome? I can probably live with it. Coloured chrome tends to look more tacky than silver and maybe gold.
Yeah, I've gone from pass to 100% sold on this toy!

I knew that placement of the fake cockpit looked familiar! Pretty sure it was there in another episode too.
Fake cockpits are actually something you see on real military aircraft now. They paint a black oval on the bottom of the nose. It is for visual range dogfights that can fool enemy pilots to think your plane is turning into him when in fact you are turning away, or vice versus.
The swivel on the "fast pack" is for the robot mode. So you can have the engines sticking up over his head, like the G1, or not, like the IDW art work.
Nice lead in with "Danger Zone" from Top Gun.

The cockpit under the jet mode is actually interesting. Many real jet fighters have a fake cockpits

Looks great next to classics and G1. For those interested, you CAN get him into gerwalk mode, but the arms will be upside down.

the G1 Jetfire toy is just a repainted version of the VF-1S Commander Type Valkyrie with the Super Pack equipped. and that is the reason why Bandai wont allow Hasbro to make something like that, its a Bandai mold
This guy looks phenomenal. At a third of the price of Kronos (which seems to have alot of QC issues), I'll take this guy. I mainly collect CHUG figures, so he scales well with them anyway. Great review as usual ***** .
I don’t care if jetfire isn’t an accurate representation of a transformer, it’s still the coolest transformer toy ever created. Period.
This is a beautiful piece. I wonder if soaking the chrome bits in Formula 409, the household cleaner, would take the chrome off like it does for chromed model kit parts?? If the plastic underneath really is red, that might be a simple solution to those who do not like chromed parts on their figures.

When you first started transforming, looked like a Sky-lynx mode.
Kind of surprised you didn't mention the Yamato/Arcadia Toys 1/60 VF-1 Valkyrie from Macross/Robotech and their variants, which are all modern Masterpiece equivalents of the G1 Jetfire toy.

I want to get this guy so bad. You should know Paul that this mold strongly resembles how he is in the current TF comics.
I am so glad I didn't order that Daca Chronos. The size/scale difference isn't worth almost 4 times the price of this one, plus I don't know what it is, but this one just seems to have more detail to me. I know it probably doesn't, I don't have Chronos to compare it to but this and the re-release of Classics Prime along with the Generations Roadbuster has broken my Transformers dry spell. (I mean, I haven't bought one in almost four months before this weekend)
btw the battle helmet is from idw comics too (TF: Storm Bringer)
i think it would be badass if Jetfire/Skyfire had his normal face, then used his helmet as a battle helmet kind of like Iron Man or something kind of like that.
The chrome isn't flaking. It's just battle damage. :D

I personally like 2007 TF Classics Voyager Class Jetfire mold. TF Generations Thrilling 30 Leader Class Jetfire is okay and nice looking.
Hey Paul, I was wondering if you would ever consider doing reviews of Construct-Bots? Obviously your not against doing reviews for kiddy toys, and it would inform your younger audience on them. They are admittedly a little expensive, but I can picture you enjoying them!
He looks awesome. My only real beef with the figure is the chrome.....really wish they had skipped that. Still love the figure though.

That is a beautiful version of Jetfire but you are right about the chrome a bad idea it looks good but chrome is always a bad idea because chrome comes off too easily a lot of times
If someone can cover those red bits with stickers. You can probably army build this fig just like the seekers. Or Hasbro can make several repaints and modifications to have different characters. Just wish this was much bigger to fit in with the Masterpiece line.
I wish the classics jetpack would fit in the clips on this new version as it's a far better pack without any chrome and with those cool flip out guns. That's the only way the classics version is superior. It's a shame this version has the hollow parts but it's something I've come to expect from modern Transformers. He is still leaps and bounds above the dregs we got for AOE and FOC.
I think the lower cockpit is for the extra Bomber Crew! =)

Hey optibotimus thanks for the review. I recently saw some photos of the Takara Jetfire leader class toy from what it looks like they took off the chrome paint that you were worried about chipping off. Any ways this is still a great figure look forward to picking one up myself someday.

The legs kinda reminds me of the transformers animated jetfire and jetstorm twins and i was also hoping for a repaint of jetfire as jetstorm and upgrade the mold so that they can combine to form safeguard just like in transformers animated. That would be so epic on gigantic porportions
love this figure, cant wait to give it to my boy. My only complaint would be the NON cartoon accurate jet mode. Id actually prefer the jet mode from the cartoon, especially since the robot mode is so g1 cartoon. Thats the toy I always had wanted not the macross looking toy

Bandai couldn't care less, they do not own the rights to the design, they are only a licensee. it's Harmony Gold that Hasbro should be worried about.

first off very nice review. i do like most of the aspects of the figure...but other then the vac metal coating and hollow points which i can ignore...i do have issues with how the wings look in jet mode how there is a huge cockpit sitting on his back and the two separate thrusters towering over his back. even the G1 toy version didn't have those that over pronounced. as for the Skyfire version of the character i do like how the main body looks (i think they actually tried to style the body after the Skyfire frame) if they didn't have what i mentioned above (wings, cockpit backpack & thrusters) Skyfire had one huge booster backpack as one solid piece, not double thrusters. and the wings were definitely not that pronounced either. if they re-engineered those parts i could actually see it as an even more decent figure...even if they just opened the sides of the boosters and allowed them to cover the cockpit so it was one solid backpack...like the animation version (when having it styled like Skyfire without the mask). sorry for my rant...oh yeah and just to let you know dealing with the G1 Jetfire figure with the armor and plating...those black openings on the end of the red sections on the arms are guns and in Jet mode they are extra thrusters...and the two on each red leg panel are stabilizing thrusters for space flight in jet mode...but ultimately most of the red panels are just added armor not actually supposed to be part of the main figure itself (for Macross they are the "Boosted" or enhanced armor plating).
People need to understand that sky fire is really technically a real transformer character they just had to do it because of the copyright law between two companies he has always been Jetfire and always will be sky fire was just a cartoon mishap.

Awesome figure !!!! Cant wait to get it. Forgot to mention, their are prototypes for combiners aireal bots an stunticons and must say they look pretty cool. Any word on when those generation combiners are planned for release ? Appreciate any info :D.

Jetfire came from the macros toy line in macross jetfire was the vf 1s then Hasbro repainted the toy red then they added him to the transformers toyline so Hasbro has the license to take robot and mecha toys from other companies to create a character for the transformers toyline
Sorry... the painted cockpit under jet fighters are intend to confuse enemies during dogfight. Maybe it s a coincidence. About the original toy, never liked it as a TF... if I remember correctly, Bandai sold the rights of the toy to make Jetfire, but never renewed it due to the release of Macross. Love this too, got a few VFs in my collection, they work a lot better as VFs than a TF..
I bought two of them so I could paint the other one as if maybe I were an transformer. I did also make a new headsculpt and left all the extra pieces if my skyfire/jetfires things would break

dang, the new one looks WAY better than the G1. And yes I do own many unopened Macross Veritech fighter planes from Bandai. I like this jetfire better than the macross toy with transformers stickers on it. I'm bout to buy it.

hey Paul question. to me it looks like hasbro is purposely watching what 3rd party companies r dropping then topping them in price and product. do u think this is a plan to keep ppl hesitant to buy 3rd party waitng to see what hasbro drops?
Neat review. It will be better if you use a black background. The white is rather over shadowing the toy itself since the toy is also white
If you submerge the parts in cola for sometime, the chrome will strip off easy
I find it ironic that 3rd party companies made a figure of Jetfire or Skyfire and Hasbro released a leader Jetfire just a little bit later.
i hope you'll able to get an early look for Arcee and Chromia.. those 2 is my top most wanted this year.

love it, looks jammin, not all classic figures are cool but this transformer is a nice sweet figure as a robot especially without the headguard, but the g1 does looks nicer as a plane. your right about the crome i dont like it and would rather have armguards
if Hasbro would've put half the effort that went into this toward the AoE figures, they would've been passable.
