- I've had my Woodmizer LX50 Super sawmill for several months now, but I really haven't had time to use it. This is the first video showing it in use. We stumble through this first log, but we're learning and having fun!
Father and son having fun, good video sir nice to see you again
thanks Digger!
Great little sawmill!! Glad y'all could figure it out together!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Still learning David. Thanks for watching!
Nice sawing, good attention to detail making sure log was clean 👍Good video 😊
Thanks Lyle!
Hey Dick , what a great way to spend the day with your son . The sawmill is very cool .🇺🇸
Thanks Del. One of my other sons was running the camera. I should have introduced him...
Great seeing you up and running with your sawmill! Looks like a great machine! Hope we can get a chance to talk splitting and sawing this year in Ohio. Have a great weekend!
@@sawingwithsandy thanks Sandy. I have a lot to learn!
Hello Mr. OGF & Son, Great Job on the log, finished cuts look real good, it takes a little time cutting to be able to cut as fast as Chuck Rodger's did, but you will get there, the real fun starts when you have a log with 6 inches of taper, or crooked and tapered, cutting the live board edges of a log cut through and through, it is all fun if you do not take it too serious when you are in learning mode, Best of Luck.
Thanks for watching Ben. I think I will like this new hobby!
hi there real nice sawing , did good , there is a good feeling pulling nice boards off the mill , just finished a oak log today my self , best to all john
I think I'm going to have fun with it John. Your comments mean a lot to me!
Been waiting to see this one. I’d love a mill one day.
I think it’s going to be fun Heath. Get you one!
Dick that LX50 seems pretty sweet. It’s funny the next step for many woodhounds is hobby milling. Though I have the Granberg & Logosol chainsaw mills I’d love to get a small bandsaw mill.
Its great having your son help out. Stay safe 👍TCT
I looked at a lot of entry level mills Tony. The just come out with a LX50 Start that's $2995. It has a 9.5hp motor instead of the 14hp like mine, and I think the track is shorter. The LX50 Super was right at $4k. I think I'll have fun with it.
Great day at the mill, Dick. What better way than to spend sons and dad day producing lumber. Sure beats my experience with my father-in-law's old diesel circular mill where I was did all the off bearing of slabs. But the was 52 years ago. Take care.
Hey David. That sounds too much like work! I think I'll enjoy playing with this thing.
Love it! Could become a new branch of the business! Love the left over slab wood for my wood stove. Stacks in the stove really nicely.
It's going to be a fun hobby!
Hi Dick, I think you will find a good market for whatever you can mill. I have often thought some of the wood I have made into firewood should have been sawn and made into nice lumber. Now you have choices! Keep moving 👍👍👍
That actually looks like fun guys 💪
We had a good time Jack. One of my other sons was behind the camera. I should have introduced him...
That is soooo sweet to make mantels, live edge bars, and tables/end tables. #LoveThis 👍🏻❤️✔️🙃
Thank you!
Good evening, Dick. There's not a log safe from the woodmizer now. Enjoy the mill it's pretty cool to have
I think it's going to be a fun hobby Kenny.
Had my LX25 burned up in a mill fire last month. I got a new LX50 super. love it so far. Much better than the 25.
@@markb-axtonmx glad to hear that! I’m liking mine so far but I can’t seem to find time to run it!!
Cool Beans!
Thanks Geezer!
Definitely a lot of fun making lumber outa logs . Eventually you will just look at a log and know ware to make ya cuts . Watch out for ya log stops trust me eventually you will forget and run the blade into one of ‘em .
I can see where it could become addicting Phil. Now I have to figure out what to build with the lumber haha!
Good job if it was easy everyone would do it you look like your doing good just keep moveing
I'm learning Frank!
Just a little note flip the can’t once in a while to make sure it doesn’t spring up and bow chuck taught me that
Good advice John. I wish Chuck was still here to give me advice...
Great job Dick…I still think I need a sawmill, just not another hobby l 👍
I had the same thought but went ahead and bought it anyway!
The only advice I can give you is make sure you sticker stack your lumber right away. If you don’t it will warp beyond use unless you’re making fence boards.
@@williamkleinsLost40Lodge I definitely will. Thanks for watching!
If made the platform higher up can you bolt your handle Knobs you turn lower on the unit.
That’s a good idea. Thanks for watching!

After more time with this mill, would you recommend it for my son, brother in-law and me for milling hickroy, oak, maple trees in our yard? We often get a tree with 6 or 8 feet of nice straight-grained trunk and my son is a woodworker who can use it. I'm the firewood guy, so there'd be a little something for everyone.
Do you find periodic maintenance simple to do? Good value? Thanks for any advice. We're probably a year out form a potential purchase and are researching. Where are you located?
Thanks for watching. I’m in NC. I’d recommend this mill as a good entry level mill. I’d also look at Woodland Mills. There are lots of UA-cam videos on both.
@@oldguyfirewood Thanks. Do you see a reason to prefer LX50 Super or HR126. Would need either one with a trailer. Any advice appreciated.
@@librealbedrio367I really think it’s a toss up. I only have experience with the Woodmizer, but everything I hear about Woodland Mills performance and customer service is great. The rails on the Woodmizer do seem more substantial but that’s the only thing that stands out to me. I’d recommend spending some time on the UA-cam channel “Sawing with Sandy”. You can learn a lot there.
I value your advice and hope to get up to Maine, the nearest Woodmizer dealer, to see what they have and get a good look-see. I look forward to quality and productive time with my two sons in doing some milling. My side hustle is firewood, so I figure that as we get trees, we can mill the good straight parts and buck and split what's left. As I type, the house is toasty warm thanks to our insert, which heats the whole house even when it's 10 out.
The difference in rails seems to favor the Woodmizer a bit, and the fact that there's a dealer two hours away and not 10 hours, up in Buffalo. That said, if a Woodland Mills unit comes available at a good price advantage, I'll consider it for sure.
Did you get the Go Trailer with your LX50 Super? I'm looking to see if it comes road legal for NH.
Thanks again and happy New Year.
Looking at this model myself, I did want to watch the video, however I don't understand how videos are made so that they only go in the middle of the screen..
lol dick it looks like your son was having a lot of fun I lost my dad last Easter it’s nice seeing you guys having fun together ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤stay safe my friend and your sons to ooo hello Clifford
Thanks John. I really appreciate your comments.

Hello dick, nice teamwork with your son👍🇺🇸
Thanks Larry. I know you have a mill too. I think I'll enjoy it.
