    It doesn't render out because of an annoying problem with the tracer. You'll notice that if you render an animation starting from 0, it'll show up. The tracer needs to calculate from the beginning each time, which is why picking a frame in the middle wont render out. The way to fix that is to essentially bake all the previous tracer frames. Make sure you're at keyframe 0, select the tracer, export it as an alembic ('selection only' and 'spline' should be checked), merge the alembic back in and replace it with the original tracer. Hope this helps!

    I just wanna sat this, I'm 5:55 into this video as a new C4d Artist and I am just mind blown on how this man remembers to do all those steps and for anyone else that can remember all of that, please please reply with a book link or something so I can create amazing things like this too and to master this awesome software, thank you!

    Came over from the GSG slack :D Awesome tutorial! If you're taking any constructive feedback - would love a bit more context as to why you're doing certain things and providing a bit of a general overview of how you build out the effect. The results are awesome but it would be great to have a minute or two at the beginning to go over how the effect is built. Subbed :D

    Awesome tutorial! Is there a way to bake the whole thing as an alembic for use with other software/renderers?

      If you use the sweep method. But I don't thunk it let's you Bakr redshift geometry since it calculates at render time

    c4d keeps crashing at 4:39 when i drag random field into Volume Builder above sphere. help please!!!

    I follow the steps ,but I'm stuck in 4:48 ...
    Why did the Random Field dragged by 4:40 disappeared...?
    (Also curious about why did "Field Force" suddenly became the last layer after the step by 4:08)
    (My "Field Force" didn't work with that)

      Honestly its a lil mistake, I went back and redid some parts and didn't cut that right. You can either drag a random field into the volume builder and it will show up in the objects view or you can create it it inside of the volume builder itself and then it wont show up in the objects but in the volume builder itself only. Doesn't matter how you do it, just need to have a random field in your volume builder and one with your field force. SO it disappeared because i had dragged it in then went back and created it inside the volume builder when I redid it.

      Yep! I discuss it in the video. U can use sweep and splines with the tracer but it will be much slower in the viewport and much more demanding of your CPU on your scene bc of the higher count of polygons.

      Of you are using redshift object I don't think you'd need to bake it. But if you want to bake your volume mesh as an alembic that might help speed it up if your using the sweep approach

      I haven’t tested that. But if you can make it a single obj or just want to apply this to a part of it I would think yes it would work. But Idk, let me know if you try :)

      @@effectatron Hi, thanks for reply. Maybe I am wrong. But from my staff's test, C4d cannot make basic slicing effect work on imported model. We use revit to build model and export to fbx and import to C4d. The slice effect or field force only apply to native-built c4d model. it is SO STUPID. Don't tell me C4d cannot cooperate with any other popular 3d design software, such as solidworks, revit, etc. It will shut doors to huge industry design and construction industry. Anyway we are still new to C4d. I hope some Guru like you can dig into this. We try to make video similar to this ua-cam.com/video/KRHbennVDJo/v-deo.html, but use drone video as motion background. C4d is the best for motion tracking. But we never expect C4d is so STUPID just cannot achieve such basic function (apply growth effect to imported layer model not just native-building model), If you can find solution we can talk some business deal. We desperately need answer

      @@steedlei1 I have done archviz Drone tracking videos myself. With buildings growing on in slices. The methods taught in this tutorial are not the workflow you should use for that effect. I don't know what renderer you are using, but most of that animation in the video you linked, is actually just animation most likely. When I would do it, I would enable point animation in C4D and animate the pieces. Keyframe the final scene and animate backwards basically. You also could try using an animated Ramp in the opacity channel to reveal the objects that way. You can also use field forces to animate the polygons for these models. C4D does effect CAD files and anything that has geometry. I know from experience. There are several ways to achieve that effect, but the most basic way would be to animate the geometry/objects/pieces themselves. Good luck and I hope that helps.

      @@effectatron Hi my friend, thank you so much for your reply. I just sent you an email. We are building design and construction management firm, using all the latest BIM tools, revit, dynamo to make revolutionary construction documents. We have used 3ds max to make construction sequence animation but the capability to track drone movement is limited. This is why we move to C4d. We really need some guru like you to help us..commercially..and it is my staff working and testing on C4d. So can we keep communicating through email. Thank you!

    At around 5:20, my cubes are like vibrating and not moving around at all. They just skip between to points. Any idea?

      I believe it is with the field force maybe? Did you leave it at 500 before you first played that animation? You had it at 50 and then changed it to 500 right before that.

      Aw so for some reason when I put random field under field force to child it, it also put's field force into the object properties. When I turned the opacity down my cubes moved like yours. Deleted it out of the object properties and it seems to be the same. Hopefully I explained that correctly. lol

    I do not understand the TP Geometry addition. What does it do? Also my parts seem to slow down and some do escape from the sphere surface quite a lot. You know why?

      I suppose we may not actually need it for this scene. but for reference - The TP Geometry object must be present in the scene if geometry should be shown/rendered for the particles.

      Sadly no. Field Forces and Vector Volumes were added in R21.

If you have an up to date license/subscription you can download it from the website - www.redshift3d.com/product/download You'll then need to click where it says "You can find the latest 3.0 releases in this forum" and then log in and download. You'll need to have an active subscription and or make sure your license maintenance is up to date. If you buy a perpetual license then you'll need to pay the maintenance fee each year to be able to stay up to date.

      oh man, the thing that is inside tracer link should be editable (worked for me) tried with emitter and it worked fine, since you have a TP group there I think you needed to make your sphere that drives all particles editable
