Using a scythe not only saves you from the noise and smell of a lawnmower, it's also good for the wallet, the body, the mind and the environment!
When your grass is getting longer, take the opportunity to get some fresh air and fall into the soothing meditation that is scything. And if you don't feel like mowing the whole lawn, why not make part of it into a small meadow, full of flowers for the insects and the birds?

Thank you for this video. I've been scything for two years and everything I know about scything has come from videos and one book about scythes. I'm looking forward to trying a wider stance the next time I mow. I've mentioned before that I bought a coarse stone to add to my kit based on your honing video with Jan. It made a big difference. I also bought a cross pein hammer and a narrow anvil. I previously had a peining jig. Unfortunately I damaged my grass blade because of poor technique and maybe the wrong hammer. I did some pretty serious damage to about 4cm. Over all it still cuts better than it did. Learning to peen more frequently like you recommended. 👍👍

A scythe might work for that farm grass but if you have short real lawn grass it is not the tool to use.
Not too fun on big lawns - but it do work on all type of short grass for sure. Then it leaves a half-moon pattern. That's hard to avoid!
