I agree! It would make the larger screens just that much better. The wireless adapters on the market work well enough luckily to make it a similar experience.
Thank you for this video tutorial. I purchased a 2023 Hyundai Tucson Limited in October 2022. I did some research and saw that there is a setting that will allow for Android Auto to use the entire NAV screen. I updated the setting but it didn't work. More research. I found your video. Also thanks for the link to the Updater Tool. I did the update yesterday. Everything looks and works great. So happy to have the full screen Android Auto. Plus, I much prefer the new look of SXM over that bulb retro look.
This worked on my 2021 N Line sonata. I used the 2022 sonata update though, have had no issues!! Most updates for 2021, 22, 23 Hyundai Sonatas are universal. This means that limited features can be manually added with some changing of the parts!! HUD, Blindspot camera's... oh yes the Nline with Limited features is the best of both worlds!! Some engineering required to make that happen!!
Agreed. The nixie tubes are what I started my car out with and I loved them. Crap. Had I known an update would take that away I wouldn't have installed it. Sigh. I had hoped they would offer options to the UI look but apparently with each update they just change something around and you don't have options.
I have bought 2 USB for updates followed all steps for downloading but every time I plug it in the vehicle it says "no supported files" ... does it mean there is special USB that's supposed to be used. Thanks
It means something is not correct with how the files are put onto the drive. The USB also needs to be formatted correctly which should be done through the software tool you are using to put them on the USB.
I’ll be skipping this update as it appears the only thing of note was the sounds of nature, something I’ve never and never will use. Thanks for the video!
The update will always update POI's within the system to keep roadways and destinations update to date. It's definitely more incremental than the past few updates which have added more features and changed the design further.
Great videos. I have a deposit down on a new 2023 Sante Fe XRT coming in this weekend, the ones I test drove on the lot last weekend had the new radio display already installed. But I also have a new(er) 2022 Kia Forte with the bulb display and agree this looks way better. Would the dealership update the radio for me next time I have it serviced? I am hesitant to do any updates myself, a few years ago I had a Dodge UConnect radio that they sent me an update for and when i tried installing it crashed the whole radio. That was a different radio/ different manufacturer, but it left me with an anxious uneasy feeling of trying to do it on my own again (especially if the Kia version doesn't say if/when its complete or not) All of your videos are awesome, especially when dealerships have so few vehicles on the lot, your informative videos help tremendously.
I appreciate the kind words Dan! I have only done one Kia update and it didn't go exactly like this one with a confirmation at the end. I wouldn't mind doing another some time to see if anything has changed in the process. It was done on a 2020 Telluride. I can totally understand the concern as others have had the same experience in the past. You can most certainly inquire to the dealership and I would think they would be happy to perform it for you although I am not sure if they are reimbursed for the time or not.

My installation took a surprisingly short ~30 minutes. Still, it appears that they did not bring back the scrolling song title feature, nor could I find where it might be an option for the driver to decide whether to utilize it (FULL DISCLOSURE: I didn't spend much time searching for it because of an important call from Ms. Nature I had to take). Can you or anyone confirm if the song title scrolling feature is gone forever? ☹☹ *2017 Santa Fe Ultimate*
I can't confirm or deny that feature. If you cannot find it easily, more than likely it is gone. They often change features which gets rid of certain ones without mentioning it.
Nice video man! I have a question. I just got my first car, a 2020 Hyundai Kona SEL that has the very outdated software and I want to update to the new Gen 5 update. However my car does not have navigation equipped. Can cars without navigation still get the new update? It seems that my car still comes up on the Hyundai software computer application so I’m hoping I’ll still be able to upgrade it🤷♂️
You would have a display audio update available however that does not change the entire UI like some of the Gen 5 Navigation systems do. I have separate videos here on the channel that show the display audio updates. When I look for the 2020 Kona, it doesn't show up on the list for Display audio as it jumps from 2019 -> 2021. I would guess it is Gen 1, however I would double check before doing an update.
@@CarsMadeSimple dang that sucks.. I really want the new Gen 5 system like the newer cars have. Is it actually possible if I can still do it even if I don’t have navigation?
@Cars Made Simple Appreciate your video. I got the navigation to work, but am having a hard time getting a brand new USB to work for the audio display update. Just to confirm, these are TWO separate updates? The audio/display update is not included in the navigation update? I have 2020 Hyundai Sante Fe, the navigation updated NP on the SD card. But when I copy the other update to a USB it's telling me it's already up to date. Not sure, if they are referring to the navigation update or this display audio. Since its Gen1 I'm sure what I could check to verify. The FW reads correct on the system for navigation, etc. But there is nothing for audio display to indicate that needs updating. Just trying to understand what the gap is here, why would they say to download a separate update if its included in the navigation one?
No, they are separate updates for separate infotainment systems. Vehicles with navigation ONLY do navigation updates and vehicles without navigation ONLY do display audio updates. No vehicle will have both updates as the navigation updates contain the any and all software/UI changes in addition to the map updates. So because you have already done the navigation updates successfully, you are up-to-date for everything. In the future, you only have to proceed with the navigation updates which will also update the software.
If you don't have navigation, you will use the display audio update. I have videos covering those here on the channel. If you do have navigation, your vehicle would have an SD card.
Is there a reason that this update isn’t available for my car. I downloaded the Hyundai installer to my computer and then selected my car, and it said that a update is not available for your vehicle at this time. I have a 2022 sonata with the 10.2 inch screen.
I have heard some people are having issues with select models. I am not sure if Hyundai pulled the update down or certain models are delayed. I would keep checking or if you can find an email, send an email to see if you can find out.
This would apply to most Hyundai models with the 8", 10.25", or 12.3" Gen 5 or newer screen with navigation. The links will have all the information you will need.
How did you download the update? I'm in Canada, tried to download the update for 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Gen 5W navigation using the Navigation Updater app and it said, 'Download for this vehicle is not yet available'. Even the list of vehicles doesn't include any 2022 or 2023 Hyundai Tucson models.
I believe Canada and the US offer different updates or do theirs separately. Also, certain models like the 2023 Tucson Hybrid's and Santa Cruz do not show an update available and this may be due to the fact they already have the latest version from the factory. I see the update for the 2022 Tucson Hybrid available so Canada may just be a little behind the US rollout.
@@CarsMadeSimple Where exactly do you see it available for the 2022 Tucson Hybrid? I've downloaded the Navigation Updater app and have installed it on my PC. I've logged in and it correctly knows I have a 2022 Tucson Hybrid but when I continue to get to the download part, it says "Download for this vehicle is not available yet". It's also not listed on the "List of eligible vehicles to download" page here: update.hyundai.com/US/EN/updateNoticeView/930/pop2, only up to the 2021 model year. And I'm in the US, not Canada.
@@kdelande I see it listed under "Tucson Hybrid" in the vehicle selection list. I have the software on Mac but I don't think that would make it a different list that populates. I updated a 2023 Tucson in this video which isn't on the list either but I downloaded it directly from the navigation tool. Send me an email at jkelly@greencc.com and I can send you a screenshot if you would like one.
No, they don't email you... You'll need a 64GB or bigger USB Drive. There's a Hyundai update app you can put on your PC and just run it once a blue moon... it will tell you if there's a new update on that app... Hyundai usually puts out a new update 2 or 3 times a year.
@wolfshanze5980 Thank you. This is for people with Hyundai's built-in navigation system, correct? I use Android Auto in my Tucson SE, so I assume this does not apply to me.
@klsyoutube2023 Well, it's "more important" for people who have and use the built-in Nav for sure, but there may be updates to other versions, you'd just have to check and see... there's also updates that update/change features other than the Nav... once again, check. If you download the Hyundai update App it will list all Hyundai vehicles and models/years that there are updates for. I have a 2023 Tucson Hybrid with built-in Nav (10inch screen), there's been a ton of major changes in the year I've had my car, even the radio is completely different now. I do use android auto, but the other changes were well worth it. For users of the smaller 8inch no-nav screen, im not sure what, if anything has changed... just check.
@@CarsMadeSimple you can downgrade the software, I have already done this on other hyundai models. how to find an old update for tucsona nx4 i will tell you.
