This video was extremely helpful!! My car’s software system (2021 Hyundai Elantra) has probably never been updated since I bought the vehicle. I tried updating it unsuccessfully before, but your step by step instructions showed me exactly how to do it, and I’m so excited to see what new features await!! It’s like getting a new car all over again ❤
Fantastic video Ed. Thanks!! I bought a new SD card to use in case something went wrong with the update process while you are in the car. I figured at least I could put the old SD card back in and still have full functionality while I drove to the Hyundai dealer to tell him what I thought of Hyundai's update process. :))
Great video Ed. This is exactly what I needed in order to do updates. I read several posts prior to this video and, although well intentioned, they just further confused me. So thanks!
Thanks for the video. It was a perfect step by step instruction for updating my 2023 Santa FE. So often in videos of this type, the instructions don't match my particular situation and so are very difficult to apply. This was screen for screen identical.
I was getting a message on my 24 ioniq that the navigation will soon be unavailable unless if I update the maps. Followed the procedure but the update program does not have a selection for the Canadian 2024 model year. I took it to the dealership and they did it. Apparently the software is already up-to-date but the maps somehow were not. Anyways if your vehicle is under warranty and the update fails for whatever reason, the service dept told me to bring it in. Thanks for the video Ed! Nice to see more ioniq 6s in the lower mainland :)
I'll check it out... But honestly, after having driven an EV for 8 years now, I can say I have all the info I need at the bottom left corner of the instrument cluster.
Hi Ed, Great video once more! In close relationship to this video and your wireless AA video, did you know that Hyundai and it's sistercompanies are rolling out an update that enables Wireless AA/ACP? Hope it helps you and the channel out!
I did the October 2023 Nav update on my 2023 Tucson Hybrid... took roughly an hour with the car turned off... a point to mention, especially for people who do it with the car turned off... if you have the Bluelink app on your phone, it will notify you when the update is complete.
Hi Ed, I enjoy your informative videos with the ioniq6. We live in very eastern canada. My wife purchased her 2024 ioniq6 in mid oct. If you could I would enjoy a video concerning these two topics . Automatic high beam assist. My dealer wasn't very helpful . I have the auto setting turned on for headlights but when driving at night above 40 km/hr when approaching another car the blue high beam light stays on and doesn't shut off?? Also I noticed the headlight indicator doesn't have an A Inside the icon? Next topic I would like to see bluelink setup for winter/ summer cabin temperature Is there anyway to have this scheduled to turn on Say at 7:30 am? Next topic ,explain the battery conditioning parameters. I understand the purpose for fast dc charging and how to activate. Is there a way to turn it on before the home AC level 2 charger starts to charge to daily settings? Thanks Tim
FYI...I have updated my 2023 Ioniq 6 and Tucson PHEV twice on both vehicles with the car turned off and the updates were successful on all occasions. 😊
Only the non navigation system trims... However, I have a simple cheap solution. Check out this video of mine: ua-cam.com/users/shortsNIBNqrd7iLM?si=YhsYDi6RKbFyXIUn
Does it not have that option?! I'll need to check that lol. I just use Google maps through Android auto so I've never noticed. But no , I'm sorry I have no idea what they'll change in future iterations.
Yes, I wish that there was a 'custom avoidances' option (like Garman has) where you can avoid certain roads (like private roads that the Navigation System thinks are public roads).
@@edsgarage001 Thanks bud. I was watching your presentation about Hyundai Elantra tech package features and this is really in depth watched whole video and this is the best presentation I ever saw. They should have you as keynote speaker when they present new vehicles or new technologies
@@edsgarage001Thanks for commenting on this as I was first confused whether this update was excluded from the OTA updates. Doing this is definitely faster than waiting for the OTA updates so it's definitely still useful.
@@edsgarage001 there's been a new development since my last comment. A new service campaign for a software update which has to be done by the dealer because they have to take photos of the completed update. I'm pretty sure it's the update that the Ioniq guy had done on the brakelight problem with the regenerative braking
Do you know what version of software you had BEFORE you updated it ? Was it : CEEV.CAN.S5W_M.V001.001.221223 I have version "221223" and I follow the steps in your video and the update will not start correctly in the car. Thank you very much Ed !!! Keep up the good work :)
I'm sorry, I don't know off the top of my head. But I know that it was the previous version, as I had updated it back in September, and no other updates had come out between them and now. But it shouldn't matter actually.... If it didn't work, I'd suggest trying a different USB stick, and remove and reinstall the updater before trying again.
I have try 2 USB stick now and also 3 different computers !!! I've been to my dealer and nobody there knows how to help me with the issue. They told me they will "look into it" and call me back in a week or 2... I guess we'll see then ! Thank you :)

The dealerships in Canada should be offering this service, FOR FREE! Great instructional video, thanks

Must have been an odd glitch. Glad they were able to sort it out for you!

The EV info on split screen is actually really helpful and interesting. Not a huge fan of sounds of nature other than Lively Forest.

Oh yes I'm aware of it for sure!
I think it may be a while though. Hopefully it's soon.
Great video Ed I was wondering if they had updates for the Sante fe Clligraphy
Yep, system updates are available about twice a year

That's cool... I don't mind leaving it on. It just makes me feel better. Besides, it's an EV anyway, not like we're burning gas 🤣
Can I use the existing SIM card in my 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport?
*sd card.... Probably not as the newer software needs more space. If you've got a 16gb SD card, you'll need to go buy a 32gb one
Does the 2024 elantra update comes with wireless carplay?

@@edsgarage001 even after software updates, it will be wired?
Yeah 😕
Only newly redesigned vehicles are getting wireless in every trim. So, the new Kona, the new Santa Fe and the new Sonata

@@edsgarage001 no my Hybrid SantaFe 2023 does not have it. I use Google maps as well, mostly for that reason.
Thanks for the reply 👍
Yes, I wish that there was a 'custom avoidances' option (like Garman has) where you can avoid certain roads (like private roads that the Navigation System thinks are public roads).
So I found the ability to avoid toll roads, carpool/hov lanes and ferries... But that's it for now 🤷
@@edsgarage001 thanks for looking into it
THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO I HAVE HYUNDAI ACCENT RB I CANNOT FIND THE FIRMWARE CAN YOU HELP ME PLEASE?
update.hyundai.com
i thought bluelink does the over the air updates on its own?
Not in Canada, and not for most all the other models.
Thx for the comment!
it does not exist on the update navigation list is there another firmware compatible with the accent rb model?
If you don't see it, then there's probably no update.
Check with your local Hyundai dealership service department.
We have a 09 sonata limited. Error window on screen. Im guessing I need to update it. Damn. What a hassle
Not sure if they still have updates for a 15 year old vehicle 😕
Are you sure all I need for the 2022 Hyundai Tucson is a 32 gb? Hyundai says a 64 gb thumb drive?
To be honest, no, I'm not 100% sure.
64gb drives are super inexpensive now though, so if you need to buy one, just go with the 64 anyway
Ok thx
Mine did fine with the vehicle turned off, Tucson 2023. Took a little over an hour. This way I didn't have to sit in the car waiting for it to update.
True, I prefer it stay on though... Which is generally less of an issue if it's an EV
I have avante 2021 from korea , can i update map to be match middle east region ?
I don't believe so, as the maps are coded to the VIN number. You'd probably be best off using Android auto or Apple CarPlay
@@edsgarage001 Thanks for your feeback
I tried to download for my Hyundai 2021 but when i hit update it said invalid format
You either got the wrong one, or did something incorrectly
is Navigation update and infotainment system upgrade the same
Yes
