  • Come inside Julia Lennon's home on the John Lennon house tour. Julia lived at 1 Blomfield Road and John spent many hours and nights at his mother's house. This was especially important to John, as this is where Julia taught him to play the banjo, bought him his first guitar and even joined in practicing with the Quarrymen.

    David that was wonderful ! Such history in that place and it was such a treat to see the place ! I have been twice to John and Paul's Childhood places, Mendips and 20 Forthlin and this place at Blomfield is just as important. Thanks so much for the opportunity to explore it via your video !!!

    HI mate thanks for a great video
    Must be an incredible experience walking those rooms seeing what Lenton saw when he was so young before all that was to come .
    All that energy absorbed in that house

    Wonderful inside look at a place that has real significance to Beatles fans. This was where the music was nurtured and grew. Very few Beatles experts have such open access to place we want to see. Hopefully, more like this to come! Smashing job (again), David!

      You could feel the history there, especially walking into the bathroom that I had heard so much about. Liddypool is THE place to be!!

    Great tour David this is my first glimpse into this house Great share mate , thank you Enjoyed it ! Here's a little story you might like ? bumped into some friends yesterday in town and we ended up in the White Star . She was telling me as a teenager she and her friends used to visit George's house and generally have a chat with his mum to ask for souvenirs and help her with house work . On one occasion Georges mum told them George had sent her a tape of the Beatles new single that was due for release so this was the first time anyone from Liverpool had heard it , the song was 'I Feel Fine ' I was blown away . Also speaking to a couple who moved from South Wales to Liverpool because they love the Beatles and the city amazing ! See you soon ! 👍👍🎸😎🎸 BB.

      Oh wow mate, what a story! George's parents were so welcoming to fans, so it doesn't surprise me one bit. There are so many untold stories out there like this. 👍

    Nice flourishing back garden, you don;t see gardens much anymore - - what we usually see now is resin and paving as environmentally friendly as volcanic ash. Wonder if those bathroom tiles are original. 2:40 Julia Jr's bedroom door is a Fifties design. 4:08 And that's where Elvis had kittens. 4:34 That cupboard definitely looks vintage - - how long has that been there?

      You can tell there are some original elements though a lot has been updated too. Real history

    Yet another fascinating video David, thank you!
    Your videos are always a great source of thoroughly detailed information for me in my job working for John Lennon Tribute.
    Buildings that are still standing that are connected to The Beatles hold a particular fascination for me.
    I'm about to embark on a blog connected to The Bridge Hotel in Tembury Wells Worcestershire where they performed 15th April 1963.
    The town will be holding 60th Anniversary celebrations next year. Myself & the band had a quick look at the place Friday night before their show down the road.
    Buildings do retain strong atmospheres of the past which I love to soak up.
    If you're ever in my neck of the woods, do pay it a visit if you haven't already!

    What's your reference mean toward Julia an John in nowhere boy on the bed? Lol i cant see anything in film.. I have heard some "unusual" things from the man himself.. Also I went to Blomfield in the summer knowing it had recently been sold, lovely sunny day. I played the dreamy song "julia" in the car, a very surreal experience.. not sure how you got in but thanks for the upload man. 👍

    • @BrightmoonLiverpool
      @BrightmoonLiverpool  2 роки тому

      John admitted that once when they lay on the bed that he might "take it further", and there were hints at that relationship in the film.
      Julia is a lovely song isn't it? Such a tragic story.
      Glad you enjoyed it.

    Sadly the National Trust confirmed both Mendips and 20 forthlin will be closed in December. Waited and saved for 5 years to get to Liverpool... ah anyway, next trip I guess 😔

    • @BrightmoonLiverpool

      Yes, sadly they close December through to March every year. A good excuse to come back though!

    Are they taking it back to when Julia lived there, with all the 1950’s style furniture in the living room ?

    This was an awesome tour.
    Just curious, did Liverpool, or Great Britain designate this property as a landmark of some sort? It's obviously vacant. And yes....if those walls could talk.

    Where about was that photo of John & His mum taken there's a sandstone old building in the background . I live in Woolton but I can't find it ??? Is it round Smithdown Rd ???

    • @BrightmoonLiverpool
      @BrightmoonLiverpool  11 місяців тому

      Not in Woolton, but Rock Ferry, Wirral. This was where another of Julia's sisters lived, so the families would often go to Rock Ferry for a get-together. There were a number of photos taken here of family members. The house is no longer there, sadly.

    Mad because looking at photos the rooms looked tiny. How did you get access?

      I knew the owner of the house who was happy to let me film this.

    Who was Julian's boyfriend she live with before she died?

    • @BrightmoonLiverpool
      @BrightmoonLiverpool  Рік тому

      Julia's partner was called John Dykins. They lived as man and wife. Julia referred to him as "Bobby" to differentiate between him and her son, John.
