I use 37” custom siped KM3’s daily here in interior Alaska, where I have the center 6” siped. This setup works great for deep winter snow & ice, as well as mud in the summer. The only drawback is they wear faster because of the soft rubber.

I have 315 70 17 Trail Grapplers with those bronze 703s. Under 10 mph I can feel the blocky tread and I daily drive mine. Love the way it looks. Neighbor has 35/12.5 pro comps and mine are clearly taller.

I like how Nitto tires have a rim protector bead (the sidewall has extra rubber on the side sticking out beyond the rim lip).

After being a BFG customer for around 40 years, and losing faith in them , I am totally impressed with Nitto tires, I have had a few sets in the last 5-7 years and have had very good performance from, l live in Maine, so I am dealing with the 4 seasons so they have performed well in all kinds of weather. Great video, thanks

Interesting...I currently have some 255/75/R17s on my Jeep TJ but I'm looking for new tires for a JL that I have coming...(I'm just a little North of you, in New Brunswick)...I'm interested in hearing why the BFG's fell out of favor with you...Thanks.

I use 37 inch Nitto Ridge Grapplers on my Jeep Gladiator. I live in the hot dry desert southwest. This is the perfect tire for my desert and scalding hot pavement driving. Mud is not to common in death valley to need a mud tire.

Just ordered 37" Recons and 17" Method 703s. Thanks for the review. My last tires were ridge grappler but these looked aggressive enough and should last longer.

Nice video guys! Casey, thanks for including Chef Jon and his T4R in your content. Being a T4R owner, I like seeing his running with your Jeeps, and he cooks up some mean trail food. Jon, I looked at the Recons when I replaced my T4R's tires recently, and I decided to go with the Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws because of the 3 peak snow ratings. I'm looking forward to seeing how your Recons perform in the snow. Keep up the great work guys!

Thanks! I've heard great things about those tires as well. I'm definitely curious to see how the Recons do with our winter wheeling and the odd snow we get here locally....stay tuned!

My wife and i both use BFG KO2s, they work well in snow up here in Alaska. Not as well in mud though as a specific mud terrain. I used to run Toyo Open Country MTs and they don't work as well in the snow as the BFGs.

I run 315/70/17R KO2’s Load C1, and got 66,000 plus miles on them, and 3 of the 5 tires still had tread and weren’t even down to the wear bars. I upgrade this do round I went with the same size and tires but Load E1 so I’d have a thick sidewalk. For the off roading I do, weekends warrior stuff mostly the KO2s do great for me. They are also a great, quiet, high speed highway tire.

Nitto makes a great product! I sell a lot of tires at the dealer where I work, and they are one of my favorites. I haven’t seen the Recon Grappler yet, but the Ridge Grappler is a great hybrid tire. My only gripe, really nitpicking, is that Nitto’s sidewalls always look like they need a shave, far more than any other brand that I sell. I guess their tire molds are just different that way.

  • @bobvedder2451

Run them til they pop! I have had tires (on a long trip) show wires in the tread before i was able to replace them.

I have nitto trail grapplers..... on one of my rc's hahaha. Then pitbull rock beasts, and km3 mud terrains.
    Haahaha.
Sadly my vision at the time has made me un able to legally drive. Still drive on the trails when I can haha.
So I do a rc youtube channel hahaha.
    I like everything from a A/T to a M/T everything has a purpose.
    But M/T looks best hahaha.
I just found out you have rc's haha. Shawn is building his live hahaha pretty cool to see.
    Anywho.
    Great video man.
    Always loads of info.

Freezing rain and pure icy roads are the great equalizer, probably only studded tires work a bit better.

So you guys almost directly compared the sound of the KO2’s and Nitto Recon’s, but you stopped short. I assume that was because the KO2s were slightly more quiet? Those Recons are nice looking tires.

Sorry! I think the end of my comment was cut short, but I did confirm (in my own tests using two different mic/sound app setups) that they was no noticeable difference on my rig. The average decibel rating through the same tracks of road was identical between the two sets.

I live on a mountain and like to ski so tires that can handle snow & ice are top priority to me. I went from Toyo AT3 to BFG Ko2 on my Ram and now have Toyo CT2 on the F350. The AT3 were the best for traction, the CT2 are the best at handling a heavy load bulb For me, with a pick up truck, I found that I had very very poor traction with the BFG Ko2’s. With the Vancouver rain and Mtn Snow they were the worst tires I’ve purchased that didn’t come stock. My buddy has 10 ply 33” Toyo MT’s on his 4cyl diesel Colorado and wants to save some fuel. I have suggested the he try the Nitto Exo Grappler. Do you have any experience with the Exo?

Going from Wildpeak AT3W to trail grapplers my radio went from 6 to 8 to cover up the tire noise. So not really much louder for me.

@@Casey250 I love NITTOs had multiple sets on my last three Jeeps been looking since May and went with 37” K02 because they were available… one downside to NITTOs you forgot to mention.. they are heavy big rolling resistant but they have a lot of rubber and very close to advertise size. Not a fan of K02 issues balancing.. never any balance issues with NITTOs
