- Euro NCAP Frontal Impact takes place at 64 Km/h, 40% of the width of the car striking a deformable barrier. In the Full Width test, 100% of the width of the car the car impact a rigid barrier at 50 Km/h. In the side impact, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door at 50 km/h. In the pole test, the car tested is propelled sideways at 32 km/h into a rigid pole.

@Quawiun All your points are so irrelevant and probably not true. First of all, the design team is not lazy, they created a very good looking simplistic interior and exterior and tweaked it a bit for every model. I have a 2016 xc90 inscription t6 and it has more technology than 70% of the new cars and looks a whole lot better than most of the new cars. Second of all, you buy a Volvo for a nice luxury car not a for performance and I don’t see a reason to go above 180 kmh. Third of all, my xc90 has amazing grip, so your buddy must have some very terrible tires. And not to mention my mom has had many volvos (around 5) and currently owns the 2020 xc90 inscription t6 and there have been no issues. And I have no clue what dealership your friend goes to but the one close to me has always been very helpful and we have never had an issue with them. Stop comparing a vw Passat to a Volvo lmfao. The vw Passat looks terrible on the inside and not to mention they still don’t even have a full lcd gauge cluster and they still have parking break levers. Know your place my friend.
Volvo saved my big sister and me as a kid from a high speed accident caused by a careless German driver when she was 18 in Germany driving my Dads volvo. Then again with my Mom in the car when someone hit her on the side and we all were untouched no injuries. This is going to be my next car. Safest car in the world since the 70's.

+Albert Arrabal well there is a difference between meeting only regulations and the most common tests and the effort that Volvo puts into safety. All Volvo performed excellent in the small overlap crashtest for example, where "big players" like BMW and Mercedes-Benz failed.
+Hubert Walter I know who invented the 3 point seat belt, or the automatic braking system or the pedestrian airbag... and that really shows what has Volvo been doing since it was born. I'm just saying that others care about safety as well. For example, the new Q7 got basically the same adult rating and even more on children protection in the EuroNCAP tests. Although less in safety assist.

Second of all those dashcams would show the same goddamn thing regardless where you had them in the world and anybody with half a brain would understand that you can't form an objective assessment from that. You need to read W.H.O. traffic death statistics from all countries. If YOU did that you'd know that Russia is nowhere near as bad as China, India, Brazil or many middle Eastern countries.
According to the WHO (World Health Organization) there were 34,604 deaths in traffic in the USA in 2013. The same year there were 27,025 deaths in Russia. In China there were 261,367 deaths in 2013 alone. Now there aren't dashcams from the USA or China or Brazil (41,059 traffic deaths in 2013) hence you can't see what outside your own limited and very biased knowledge.
Lastly, I don't know if you get this or not but the best way to keep the traffic accidents down is *better driver education* and much stricter driver tests. You don't automatically stop accidents by putting people in safer cars dipshit.
Enlighten and educate yourself by reading up a little from credible sources. Understand? No? Then be an ignorant cretin all your life.

At that last test, isn't it safer to use the adapt cruise control? it's very alert and all but imagine yourself braking to a full stop when somebody drives 70 behind you. Not very safe imo.

Want evidence that Volvos are safe? Well, skip to 1:07-the car smashed into a wall going 60-70 MPH and the only thing wrong with the car is a small hood inflammation. The rest of the car is in pristine shape, including the exterior and interior. This is proof that Volvos are truly the safest cars on the market today.
The front should have absorbed more energy and should have been more damaged. That is what deformable barrier is for. Car is not safe if no damage is seen but large G-force on a human body. Large G-force is fatal. You wanna damage the front to reduce G-force. Safety cage should be intact of course
50 km/h is 31 MPH. Not 60-70. For the speed of 60-70 MPH it would actually be very bad if the front deformed only this much and not more.

euro ncap tests with the base model of the cars. q7 has panorama sunroof as standard while xc90 doesn't. But i can already tell xc90 has strong sunroof by looking at the roll over

While there is little left of the car, mother and daughter walked away, uninjured. There is another story of a loaded cement truck crossing the road, it ran over the drivers side of the Volvo. Although injured the driver did survive and was released from hospital within the week. So I would bet my chances of survival in the volvo over most others.
