Not a restoration. You just put it into a different enclosure. One that doesn't look very good at that.

Why not using a good soldering station. This soldering pistol is crap!
They may not have access to one or might not be able to afford one.
this soldering gun is ideal for large components heats up quickly and ideal in workshops like this
