This is fantastic. My Velcro came in sections, not a strip. And the instructions were a bit confusing. I appreciate those who make up UA-cam University. They make my life so much easier. Thank you so much for taking the time to create these videos for us.
I don’t need one of these but I watched anyway. I like this man’s way of explaining his how to videos. I saw his toilet flapper video, also for no reason, and his 2” blind fix video which is the one that helped me fix my blinds. Straight and to the point with no BS comedy routine. I like that! 👍🏼
@@EmazingGuitar I broke my finger doing this when hammering. Not everyone is a master craftsmen like you. Also the measuring process is the hard part for most
@@EmazingGuitar lol I think what she meant was the instructions in the box made it seem more complicated. They tell you to lay it out on the floor and loop this and that and a bunch of useless information. That is why I got on to look lol. So this video makes it a lot more easier to install then the directions it came with. Your comment did make me chuckle 🤭
Great video ,where you live does it get cold with snow and all? The Velcro that goes against the door frame gets the tacks and then the Velcro door goes against that, so you can remove it in the winter months, thanks for showing me. Now I know what will work for us.
Folding the extra over on the sides was brilliant!!!! After I ordered one (and had it hanging around uninstalled for almost 2 months), I realized our back door is not as wide as the front door.....wondering what to do? And then you solved the problem perfectly! Thank you so much for the video! Also, applies the velcro to the door frame, as you demonstrated, instead of to the screen door, then apply it all to the frame like the company instructions suggested. Much better idea!
Your panel was wider than your door ; did you measure the frame when ordering it or the actual door size? Im trying to figure that out as I dont want to have to fold it and monkey around with it. You did a great job installin git.
Thanks, Chris, you taught me how to hem the excess. I've had many of these curtains over the years. You made me feel kind of stupid not turning my excess under. Many thanks!
This is what I have been using for several years. My only qualm is that they do not last. Most last about 1 year but my most recent lasted a few months. Looking for a way to frame it and make it look nicer and one that will last.
The tacks are meant to hold the Velcro to the door jam, not to hold the screen, that’s what the Velcro does. Put the first strip of Velcro, tack it in place then Velcro the screen over the tacks, that way the screen is removable. If you nail the screen to the door frame it’s not removable without pulling all the tacks.
You answered my question before you even got started 😆I could not figure out what the wide strip was for and that was my whole reason for finding a video so thank you so much
I think I would have just tacked the Velcro to the frame (using the adhesive also) but not through the screen. That was the Velcro would be strongly attached to the frame but you can still take down the screen easily if you want to. Thanks👍🏼☮️
Thank you for helping me feel abit more confident hanging it. However my door I'm putting it on is aluminum framed, it's a sliding glass. I live in am apartment from 1966.
Mine came with tacks and velcro. The instructions said that the velcro was for metal framed doors and the tacks for wooden framed doors. I imagine the velcro would hold well enough as long as you don‘t have any kids or something pulling on the screen. Only reason I used the velcro at the top of the door was just to help make it easier to install since I didn‘t have someone to help at the time.
had to remove mine and the velcro left behind ALOT of sticky residue. any suggestions to remove it? i’ve tried using goo gone and rubbing alcohol and it slightly works but isn’t efficient
Interesting video. I noticed you said to hang the screen several inches from the bottom. I'm curious why that would be so. Your video didn't show the bottom of the door after install.
Thanks to your great video... I managed to install mine with ease. So thank you kindly for taking the time to share. 😊. I just wanted to say how beautiful the filigree iron work on your front porch looks. So pretty, I wish we could get such decorations over in the UK 😊
This was extremely helpful you made it so easy for me to put this up thank you so much for a job!!!My brother put my previous one up last summer I have three dogs and they’re all big dog so they brutalized it but hey it lasted a whole year ha ha thanks
I watched the installation video from the official website/channel first. The camera was constantly out of focus and they had comments turned off which is a terrible thing in these types of videos because I imagine if the comments were on, someone would have suggested using the velcro as an easy means of securing it while tacking. Great video man. Much better than the official one.
Thanks for the video! I watched this before making my purchase to understand what I was getting myself into. I like your trick with doing the velcro also, that makes sense.
Thanks man. I'm thinking about purchasing one for my kiln house/studio/shed. After watching your video I can see that I might as well pull the trigger. Cheers!
Don't ever buy the stuff if you think it's going to keep a pet out of the room! I didn't get this exact brand but it's the same exact thing and it says on the package great for pets! Right as soon as I installed it all my young kitten did was head butt it and open it right up! And this is only so I can let cool air come in at night and she won't come in my room and bother the other cat or me when we're trying to sleep. And I can't shut the door I have no AC in here. The only solution is to take a safety pin or diaper pin and pin the bottom of it so it won't open. I think when it means great for pets is that they can let themselves in and out. But I got this stupid idea that I thought my pet would not go through it. I was wrong. Other than that it's fine.
Hey Dude, thanks for doing this video, it was actually MORE helpful than the Instructions and the Instructional Video because you addressed a few things they didn't like 'hemming ? or is it heming? well, it's one of them. Guess I need to go back to school and take Spelling, lol. So, yeah, it was really nice to have this video to take reference to and it would have been more difficult to do without this video. I haven't done my door yet, but I'll have to put it on the 'outside' of my door and it's not wood, it's PVC or something like it. Therefore, you cleared that up for me as well and I'm quite sure many others are very appreciative of this video as well. God Bless my friend, thanks again and for goodness sake, 'Stay VIRUS Free'!!!
So we have one that we paid $20 bucks for ( I think) on Amazon… we have three dogs & work from home, so a lot of in and outs and it last about 18 months. Could be the brand? Or the ins and outs. But to us - def worth the $20! I’m about to install another one… it helps keep the bugs out but fresh cool air in and out.
Your instructional video was helpful except for a small part when you were explaining about the velcro either being for a wood frame or metal frame I couldn't tell because you were moving around and the wind was blowing. At that point your voice faded out as you were explaining. I don't know part of what I'm supposed to know but I like the rest of it. t That's like 97% Thx
This was an accidental view trying to watch another video and SOOO happy I watch this one! Made my day after work and feel better the route I was going to be taking
Was there excess at the bottom? I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to measure for what I need. My house is an old 1930s bungalow and the door is small and not a standard size. It's a fake french door, meaning only one side opens. Any advice?
Thanks. Great video. Very helpful. I'm wondering if you or anyone else may have installed this from inside? My door opens outwards. Will an inside installation even work?
I was wondering if you could give me any ideas if my screen is about 1-2 inches too short. Any idea what I could use to attach to the bottom to cover that area so I can keep it because I can't return it. Thanks!
That's cool and all but there's no way I will be nailing into my new good looking door just like the one you have, to hang a temporary screen. That door deserves to be complimented by a really nice storm door with a screen. But I did learn from your video not to get this because I sure thought about it listening to a friend.
Thank you for posting this, very helpful and appreciated the tips on how to tailor it for your door! Was hesitant on installing it/how to measure the door (as it will be installed on the inside), but am more confident now, thanks to your video!
Just bought one and i was wondering what to do since it is also wider than my doorway. Thank you so much for this video...straight and to the point. 👍👍👍
My landlord is to cheap to buy a real screen door, so he installed one of these needs ironing, $19.99 as seen on tv, dog escape hatch, that opens when the wind blows. It is garbage. I hope once the weather changes, I can take this pos down easily enough.
So you installed/adhesived one half of the vecro to the door, since we saw the black facing out and then you also did the same to the Magic Mesh which we didn't see and then you just pressed them together on the door frame?
Thank you. I'm looking to install it on my back door 🚪 and that opens from the outside so I will need to use the adhesive only. Any suggestions let me know please.
What would you suggest, if we do not have a wooden door frame and thus can not use the tacks? Will yhe velcro hold up on it's own, even in windy bad weather?
They tell us what is the top and the bottom, but now what is the front or the back. How do you know which way to lay it or install it? Or that bit doesn't matter? Thank you.

I used a tension rod
Folded extra over made a pocket to slide rod through
and tacks the the sides worked great for kids and dogs😅
Agreed!
@@carolleroy448 I bought an 83" high screen, needs to go on a 79.5" metal frame opening. Wondering how to do this, or should I just cut it...
Very cool, got mine..it will be way better than my rolling screen door falling off the track every time its pulled.👍

Longer than you in bed
