wish they had balanced the weapons better in this game to incentivize variety, it sucks having the new unlocks be flat out better than what you already have
They tried to use RE4 weapon system but ultimately failed to do so, somehow
Fun fact: they added weapon exclusive upgrades but unlike RE4, you have complete 25 challenges on mercenaries mode first

That was one of the great things about RE4 Remake, every gun was useable

I was able to beat Village of Shadows with only the infinite rocket launcher for my second run. It took a bit of time for the boss fights.

Something important to note is that any sort of lycan-based enemy takes a large amount of extra dmg from the Wolfsbane (I believe it's 50%), meaning it takes less shots to kill powerful enemies such as Urias, Varcolacs, etc on the higher difficulties, which does give it a unique specific niche. I would probably personally carry both, Wolfsbane for style points against any Lycans and the Urias variants, STAKE and WCX for everything else, Grenade launcher for utility. It's basically the only weapon in the game with an "exclusive" effect.
Actually, that would have been really interesting if the different weapons were super effective against specific enemy types (animal, "zombie", flying, mechanical, etc.). You couldn't keep them all on hand due to inventory space, so you would have to make some difficult choices. Only big drawback is on first playthrough, you don't which enemies you'll be mostly seeing up ahead, making it hard to know what to choose.
and I noticed you can NOT pop the head of Moroaica with magnum.. lycans just pops like balloon
Actually, completing I think 25 achievements in the mercenaries mode gives most guns a special ability like increased fire rate, spread, shots that heal you, and most importantly, damage. Having this makes the S.T.A.K.E deal 9999 DAMAGE. It’s wild and so much fun
All non bonus weapons get an ability except the knife

Im so happy that you heard my calls for this video😊😊😊, also if you have the winters expansion you can unlock the especial costumization in the mercenaries wich basicly makes every gun even better, you unlock it the same way as the ligthsaber

If you get the Permanent Reward upgrade for the Wolfsbane, It would be a one shot kill for Lycans, varolacs, All mini bosses, and even Urias along with the three daughters.
So In summary, if you have 100 ammo of the Wolfsbane with the permanent mercenaries bonus, you basically have a doomsday device the form of a Golden Magnum-revolver.

I personally like the lemi handgun because of the old school look of it and the tape or cloth on the handle ❤ and the trench gun is my personal favorite shotgun because of the way it looks and power of it just by the sound of it.
My go to weapon are stake, grenade launcher with infinite ammo. Thats how i was able to complete village of the shadow
Rocket pistol is good at opening the doors in Heisenberg’s factory that have the red lights on it.
What I found out through my countless playthroughs is that the wolfsbane does more damage to the lycans than the stake does so when doing a new game plus speedrun i use both of those
The Rocket Pistol may be a goofy weapon, but damn does it help with those Frankenstein freaks of nature Heisenberg made that are armored

Its a shame they just went with each gun you find it gets better and better making stuff like the first shotgun and the lemi redundant and such. At least with the other resident evils, you get given a gun and itll be still there as your mainline boss dps or zombie killer

I was so excited to get the rocket pistol and then I was highly disappointed
i would say the knife is definitely worse on RE8 since it have way too low damage and per second output in a game that have way too much enemy (in comparison), as well their power scale agressively later, in a way that you wont be able to use it well.
in my experience even the karambit becomes quite overhelming after awhile (village of shadows) because the scale and numbers
atleast for me it felt hard to use more of the melee weapons excluding lz answerer of course in comparison to games such resident evil 4 (where the damage was of course low, but the wide stagger would help, as for the remake it would help with parries)
Those weapons need better balance or and weapon specific boni like in re4 would have been nice as well... like the lemi 50% critical headshot rate, would have been a pretty usefull gun for weak enemies then.
I’ve been waiting for this! I honestly wish the 1911 was better because it felt way better to use than the V61 did.

Finally, someone realized that the stake is better than the wolfebane. Every video i see, i like every boss versus the strongest weapon, and it's the wolfebane. The stake literally has better stats
Depends on the boss, wolfsbane does more damage for lycan type enemies
@@osets2117 Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure only the guy with the hammer and the wolf in the village are lycan bosses. Everything else isn't
@@titanmax111 all the regular mobs in the village are lycan, both 4 legged wolves are lycan, the hammer guy, the guy in the mill, and the guy standing over the grave are all lycan. So a bunch of regular mobs (that you wouldn't waste the ammo on), one boss, and 4 mini bosses.

@@titanmax111 technically there is only one lycan boss you can use the wolfsbane on and that's Urias, all the others are either optional or you fight as Chris (and he can't use other weapons other than the ones on him) 😆

Domna is one of my favorite moments in the game. It's so messed up. So freaky, disturbing, insanity.
...then you go to the next playthrough and it's a slog to go through. Although still enjoyable once you blast through the puzzles instantly compared to the discovery phase in thr 1st playthrough.
same. I mean some of the enemies and bosses are cool but story is a bit meh
just because of the process to get the LZ, made me absolutely hate Mercenaries. ( edit ) the truth is... The stake. anyone who has maxed it out realizes how unbalievably expensive it is. in total. it cost, 2,103,000. I don't even think you can make that much in a single playthrough.
Hey did you know if you have winters expansion, get 25 rewards in mercenaries then you will get something called,,special customization"which is kinda like an exclusive upgrade, but lemme tell you something if you have the stake fully upgraded, it will turn it into a 9999 damge weapon PER BULLET
Too many people ignore that feature, it makes VOS on new game actually doable (at least until heisenberg)

Now you gotta cover the weapons with their special customisation you get from getting 25 rewards from the mercenaries they turn sone weapons good make broken weapons more broken and make the lemi do something kinda useful
You can actually shoot the tac fairly fast if you shoot it immediately after loading one shell
My friend said “get whichever assault rifle ya want they don’t differ much at all” after my first playthrough and now I have a dragoon and 1k too little points for that good pistol…
One thing I wish was a part of this game was to simply AIM WITH THE SIGNS instead of the weird zoom in I hate it
You actually aim down sights in the Chris re7 dlc, I really really wish that they did the same in re8.
The zoom works like in great majority of ps2 fps games and is perfectly fine, you zoomer

Wish all the weapons were available in the VR version of RE8...
I used Stake for a bit and just loaded an earlier save and upgraded the Wolfsbane instead. It hits almost twice as hard, is much cheaper to upgrade and it is obtained naturally as you progress the game.
I don't even like this game that much but you're wrong. They added exclusive upgrades to the weapons with shadows of roses dlc. Example Lemi restores health per a kill or a shot or something. Chris handgun can't even be upgraded but it's good. Favorite guy is sig mcx called wcx ingame. Only complaint Ethan has military training but can't aim down sights.
Stake does 9900 fully upgraded and wolfsbane is stronger because of glitch .
The shadow of rose upgrades are not in the base game
@@betterthanstarlight I played through the whole game on a new save with them and VOS. If by base game you mean with update not installed ok . I know part of update is free and other is paid.

with special customiztons it has 9999 power with all upgrades all parts and infinte ammo makes it so powerful its one shots almost every thing (S.T.A.K.E)
The rocket pistol aka the gyrojet is one of the worst pistols ever made and is actually a real weapon that was made. Tho the bullets did not explode in the real life version. I highly recommend you look into the gyrojet

@@betterthanstarlight Some of the weapons has way faster RoF in mercenary mode, such as the VZ-61 Scorpion and the M1911, even the M870 shotgun is faster than SAIGA-12 (as fast as you push mouse button, needs upgrade tho)
Also, the 870 benefits from wide spread and damage in single mode, it's still a pump action like 1897, so not necessarily faster (being tactical meaning it has rails to mount accessories, that's about all)
To get through VoS i used the heck out of the infinite grenade launcher

Great video but the audio balancing needs some serious, serious, serious work.
The rocket pistol isn't that bad. Its low dps for sure but it has higher damage per shot and great stun chance. It's pretty ammo efficient too.

You do not know how to use the knife. You can use it non stop if you swing it twice then a jab and repeat. I beat like everything in the castle with it using that strat with crouching and blocking

I use the light Saber one hit kill ability basically so I can backtrack quicker in peace. But I don't use it in boss fights
As a person who has over 15 playthroughs of re8 and over 20 in re7 this game had the absolutely most garbage fucking reward for completing the HARDEST difficulty, i saw the rocket pistol and thought "ooh, that seems like it would be good, i worked on getting infinite ammo for the STAKE, did my vos playthrough, got the thing, and was immediately disappointed with capcom, like, come the fuck on guys, we get a slingshot that shoots poppers for beating the hardest difficulty, seriously? Very disappointed with re8, but the rocket pistol has left a bad taste in my mouth
