I bought a new catalytic converter replacement due to a p0420 code. Will I have to buy a new 02 sensor aswell to get rid of the code? Or just plug in the old 02 sensor to the new catalytic converter?
if i put this on my 2000 honda civic lx will it pass inspection in pa. someone told me the converter needs to be an oem. if i put this on will the check engine light still come on?
Super detailed and love the speed up. thanks. I have a quick question, what happens if you don't have a torque wrench and only snug them tightly with a regular wrench?
Question- do you know if manifold catalytic converters also being stolen during the pandemic? If not, can I install one on my car to increase protection?
Great video. Thanks. My manifold came with a gasket that is smooth on one side and dimpled on the other. Does it matter which side goes towards the engine block? I have seen videos where people use muffler cement in addition to the gaskets. Is this necessary or overkill?
What type of penetrating oil do you recommend for all those rusted on nuts. I would hate to break a stud off while doing this. Everything seems pretty straight forward, otherwise. At 254,000 miles, do you recommend changing O2 sensors?
Can You separate the manifold from the cat converter? The mechanic says that my cat is defective but the manifold is ok. Are there any attached bolts shown that distinguishes the two?
No, unfortunately Honda combined to two. You would have to get a full aftermarket exhaust with the exhaust manifold a separate piece from the cat. I've got a similar problem. My cat is fine, but my manifold is cracked. I blame Honda for the troublesome combination.
Nice Video, but I wish you had a video for the 2001. I just bought a manifold from you guys and wow it was a completely different installation how ever this video did help.
the one I bought has 3 bolts I have to connect to the catalytic converter myself with only 3 nuts. The 3 bolts are threaded on both sides with about an 8th of an inch space in the middle that's smooth between the threading. how do I connect it to my converter/exhaust pipe?
hi i have a question what is the difference between exhaust manifold aand exhaust manifold with converter assembly this will help me a lot im trying. to but somes from u but i need make sure
Josh Santiago sometimes its better not to have that bracket (heat shield) when something breaks on it or a bolt is missing they rattle and makes you think something more serious is happening i rather not have it on mine at least
+Matthew Numazu Thank you for checking out our video! This particular repair does not work for the EX, just the other trim levels for this year. We currently do not have a video on your particular repair, however the basics of this should still apply.
Thank you for watching! You would have to use a torque wrench as opposed to hand tightening them. Please let us know how the repair turns out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
HI do you know if I can buy a catalytic converter from you guys a auto is the best that's what I heard. I at Washington state I looked under my hood and it's just say .confirm to us EPA regulations 2007 gasoline.
+Lenard Batac Due to state emissions regulations, we cannot ship this item to the state of California as it is not C.A.R.B ( California Air Research Board) approved for use in this state.
My repair manual says to clean every mating surface with lacquer remover before installing new exhaust components. Any reason you didn't do so in this tutorial?
We have them in stock. Here is a link to them. Hope this helps you out. www.1aauto.com/honda-civic-civic-del-sol-exhaust-manifold-with-catalytic-converter-and-gasket-kit/i/1aemk00182#UA-cam&CTA%20Comment&

Worked to a T with a manual 97' Honda Civic DX Hatchback......used the DORMAN brand cat too. That brand fit perfectly while other brands fit horribly.
Thanks. Good video. Good camera angles and includes all the information I need to do the job and without a lot of cringe humor.
+Janssen Kuhn Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
Do u have the mounting brackets for the catalytic converter
This California emmision too?
Hello,..it's me again...question...do you suppose to unplug the battery before removing the o2 sensor

Thanks fellas! exactly what i needed to see!
No problem. Glad to hear it helped you out. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393
When he says "to remove this lower gasket, and put a new one". What is the name of that gasket? I got a leak in that point.

Is this California compliant ?
Question- do you know if manifold catalytic converters also being stolen during the pandemic? If not, can I install one on my car to increase protection?

Where is the egr on this civic I have a 99 civic automatic and can't seem to find the egr

+Linda Welch It's all personal preference which brand you use. Try em all and see which you like!

Can You separate the manifold from the cat converter?

no it's all one piece so you have to replace it all but it's not a bad thing since the manifold is not strong it can crack like mine did
Michael Carter No, if your cat is oem.
what size are the studs?
Is this comparable to changing one in a 2002 LX?
Can this cause the car to lose power and over heat
You can buy CA Carb approved Dorman exhaust manifolds on Amazon for 300-400$ just a heads up for all you Californians
Daniel Olsen Thanks 👍🏽 any link?
I have a 2008 Jeep Patriot 2.4 is the manifold and catalytic converter 2 different parts? I have the code P0420 & P1593
+Shanika Johnson Yes they are one assembly on that vehicle. Here is a link to them on our website. goo.gl/X9Ne8L
thanks for the video and especially the torque specifications-- it's a very light torque because the engine is aluminum.
What happens if a nut strips on the old intake? How do I go about getting that off?
Great video, and thanks for educating us. Thanks again.
No offence but it goes a lot quicker if you soak the bolts in WD-40 first, Just a suggestion Exhaust bolts are real sticklers some times. Good Luck!
Thank you for watching! I agree some WD-40 or even PB Blaster will make the repair a lot easier.

hi i have a question what is the difference between exhaust manifold aand exhaust manifold with converter assembly this will help me a lot im trying. to but somes from u but i need make sure
Jhonny Mendoza like an exhaust manifold without a catalytic converter?
At 5:07, the first gasket he removes, what is that exhaust pipe called?
its called front pipe
What if I have a after market exhaust that came with the vehicle and the bracket that plugs into the engine is not there
Josh Santiago sometimes its better not to have that bracket (heat shield) when something breaks on it or a bolt is missing they rattle and makes you think something more serious is happening i rather not have it on mine at least
Is it the same for an acura el 98 1.6 engine?
+Filomeno III Paler The installation process should be very similar.
Well...I bought the wrong type of catalytic converter.
Does this apply to a 96-00 ex or just dx and lx?
+Matthew Numazu Thank you for checking out our video! This particular repair does not work for the EX, just the other trim levels for this year. We currently do not have a video on your particular repair, however the basics of this should still apply.
