I saw the Shroud, when it was on public display in 1978. I had travelled overnight from Dunkerque in France, and needed to queue for five hours before i could see it for a few minutes, but I was only 20 years old at the time, so could manage it.
Recently I saw a programme on UA-cam about Veronica's veil and the Holy Face devotion and the two images to appear to match.

I've loved the image on the Shroud for many years. It is very compelling and attractive. Obviously I don't need it to believe in Jesus because I believe Jesus is an energy that exists as much today as he ever did. I recently heard - from more than one source - of the possibility that Leonardo da Vinci was able to make a photographic image on the original shroud of Jesus (which had been held by the Knights Templar). That fits a timeline where carbon dating found it to 1400s but there were grasses detected which were only available in an area of Jerusalem. If you see pictures of Leonardo DaVinci's self-portraits, the image is strikingly similar to that on the shroud. The Grand Master of the Templars said that Leonardo made a deal with the church that he could reproduce an image of Jesus - which could not be contradicted and would be thought of as a miracle - if they would stop their persecution of scientists. Surely, if anyone could do it, it would be da Vinci That he gave them what appeared to be 'the miracle' and - in return - they would stop persecuting those who are making scientific discoveries such as Leonardo himself

It’s not Christ’s burial cloth. The Bible says His beard was pulled out by the Roman soldiers and the man in the image on the shroud has a beard.

The image on the shroud looks suspiciously like Frank Zappa!

This video demonstrates an absence of modern science, a return to a medieval level of mythology. I am not saying the shroud is not genuine. I am only saying there is no science presented in this video to provide evidence, scientifically, that it is what it is purported to be. It might be a beautiful work of medieval art. Science is not anti-Christian, but it is how we know things are true in our material world, and the shroud is part of our material world.

@@stephenrusso1233 No DNA testing. No carbon dating. No sourcing data, i.e., knowledge of it prior to the 14th century.

@fredphilippi8388 OK so let's assume it's from the 12th century how did they do it

@@stephenrusso1233 My only observation is that this video provides no scientific bases for authenticity.
For some purportedly scientific explanations of how they did it, one might see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shroud_of_Turin

@@fredphilippi8388 The Shroud image is so incredible that the burden of proof rests on those who think it is a forgery. STURP team spent over two years preparing a series of tests that would gather a vast amount of Shroud data in a relatively short period of time. STURP's primary goal was to determine the scientific properties of the image on the Shroud of Turin, and what might have caused it: After years of exhaustive study and evaluation of the data, STURP issued its Final Report in 1981: *"We can conclude for now that the Shroud image is that of a real human form of a scourged, crucified man. It is not the product of an artist."* "The answer to the question of how the image was produced or what produced the image remains, now, as it has in the past, a mystery." _No one has ever proven these 33 scientists and engineers wrong._ All were part of leading tech firms. Los Alamos National Scientific Laboratories* Lockheed Corporation* U.S. Air Force Weapons Laboratories* Brooks Institute of Photography* University of Colorado* Oceanographic Services Inc.* Nuclear Technology Corporation* U.S. Air Force Academy* Jet Propulsion Laboratory* Sandia National Laboratory*, etc. The STRUP team included three Jewish members, one Mormon, one Evangelical, several Catholics, several Protestants and some avowed atheists and agnostics. Had religion ever been a criterion for membership, most of the STURP team members would never have agreed to participate. *The notion that it is a forgery (a painting, other work of art) has been disproved so thoroughly and absolutely that it is permanently buried; they are based in part on the denial of empirical data. The scholarly consensus a mere 60 years ago deemed the Shroud a medieval fraud; the present evidence allows a firm archaeological judgement for authenticity.*
