    At this times there are several rules for how far you can drive and what reason. Also the license plate sayd k for Köln (cologne)
    And Neuschwanstein is much more away than allowed. So they checked her home address if you are allowed to be there (Corona rules where very strict at this times)
    The second officer standing there hand on his gun is the normal protocol to secure his partner.
    Especially in Corona times there where a lot of crazy people out there who attacked policemen because of some crazy conspiracy theories. A lot of people where using fake documents doctor's notes etc. To break the rules. Also a lot of the police force had Corona too so they where exhausted by making overtime.
    You can not compare this stop to a normal traffic stop in normal times.

      Correct! During the corona crisis Germany did very well, with relatively few deaths, and keeping up high level of general health care. While others, like UK and US, did bad, in spite of even stricter regulations.

    In Corona times, there was a lockdown and therefore restrictions, so they were stopped (license plates outside the zone).
    The search of the car was probably illegal, but that's a gray area. There are always two police officers in Germany, one to secure (hand on the gun).

    • @erwinerwinson5941

      They often have one hand over the gun to secure it against mad people.

      @@DaxRaiderAs the other commenters said, it is standard procedure for the security cop to be ready to pull the gun. A few years ago two cops were shot dead while on a traffic stop in the state of Rheinland-Pfalz by poachers (Wilderer). Watching police documentaries you will notice that having the hand on the gun is also standard procedure when German police is called to domestic violence incidents or when opening appartment doors.

    Nah, as she said, the number plate said "K" in the beginning, what stands for Köln/Colone. In german Number plates, the first Group of letters tells the city of origin (Example plate from Colone: K:MH 666). She was with that car about 600km away from Colone during Corona... that's why she got pulled over.

  • @miztazed
    @miztazed 11 днів тому +17

    The good old question all North Americans ask: "Why you pull me over?" In Germany the police need no reason for pulling you over!!! They can stop you at any time just to check if everything is ok with you and your car and you are not a danger for the public road traffic.

    • @RiunaTwoflower
      @RiunaTwoflower 10 днів тому +1

      That's only partially true though. During a general Verkehrskontrolle they can stop basically any car. But normally they need grounds for suspicion. The term is really loose so that's up to interpretation to a point. In this case they had grounds for suspicion to stop them (the licence plate) but I'm not sure that it would warrant a whole search instead of just checking their credentials. But there is rampant racism in the police force here too. So just the fact that someone is not a German national is sadly enough for some cops to see suspicion everywhere.

      Your wrong... a search doesn't require suspicion of an crime. Its calles Eigenschutz, means the search is for the safty of the cops in germany. Also nearly half of the trafficstopps are conducted without reason. And dont play the racism card just you like it...

      @@m.g3003 oh yes a search on the inside of the car does need either a signed warrant or there has to be special circumstances like the risk that evidence of a crime is going to be destroyed. Do a simple google search on the topic cause I can't write it better than the ADAC for example in this short answer.

    Far as I know it's normal for US police officers to work alone, while in Europe it is normal to work in couples. This also means that new officers will work with senior officers and get 'on the job training' after police school. Before being allowed to join police school, there are prior education demands and physical and psychological tests. In the Netherlands the basic training is 2 years and there's additional training if you want to 'climb the ladder'.

    Every German uniformed police officer in duty carries a one handed firearm assigned to him + spare ammunition + pepperspray + a flashlight + handcuffs + a taser + body armor + a radio + his personal uniform determined by the weather of the year. German police officers are highly trained for nearly every situation they could encounter.

      You might be right with all the equipment in your state. There is just one thing to add. As every state has its own Police Law, the equipment might differ from state to state. For instance in the Saxon Police Law (SächsPVDG) tasers are not mentioned as equipment. Thus police officers in Saxony don't carry tasers.

    Germany is our neighbour to the west. The way the car was checked by German police sounds more like a targeted activity based on intelligence (report of a certain crime or what not). The car not belonging to the region is a hint they were looking for something. During the lockdowns in Prague, there were instances where I was stopped and had to show that I'm living in the capital and not in my hometown 170km away. It was all civil, polite and from my point of view acceptable during very difficult times.

    Corona ! Neuschwanstein is located in Bavaria and the licence said Köln. So back then trought the lock down time you should stay in your Bundesland and not cross the borders without any reason, like work. It was totally ridiculous! Most officers only gave warnings, but they could give you a ticket or more. Now the government had to pay some of them back, though.

    Afaik they carry a fully loaded pistol, usually 9mm with full mag and 1 in the chamber with special law enforcement hollow point rounds for better stopping power and less penetration, as to not hit anything behind the intended target and 2 spare mags. And there is an MP5 locked in the car. Plus things like flashlight, Pepperspray, taser and bodycam (not in all jurisdictions), handcuffs, radio, possibly a baton.
    And they wear body armor.

    • @alexanderkupke920
      @alexanderkupke920 7 днів тому

      Bodycams are still a rare thing to see. Some police departments in some of the states are testing those for a while now.
      The "issue" with bodycams is, that we have very strict personal rights about being fotographed or filmed, mostly cumulated in European GDPR (general data protection rules) based laws. Right now, any officer wearing a body cam, has to wear a well visible badge or marking on his uniform informing about the camera and if someone does not want to be recorded and requests not to be recorded they have to shut it of. (Exact regulations may vary from state to state).
      Personally I think the lack of exceptions our current laws have are ridiculous, as those recordings may prevent, or at least provide evidence, on either a police officers or a person's misbehaviour, so I think it is for both sides protection.
      When it comes to cops not carrying guns regularly, most of police officers in the UK do not have guns at all, while Norwegian police officers have a gun in their car and usually leave it there but can decide on occasion if they want to carry it.

    3:06 That's what dashcams are for. Take the recording to the police and report the guy. This has nothing to do with being a traitor. People like this need to be made aware of the danger they are putting others in with their driving.
    Bavaria and eastern Germany are the main routes for people smuggling illegal immigrants and drugs. Vehicles that appear suspicious to officials are therefore subject to increased checks in these regions. If everything is OK, you can continue driving after the check.
    If you want to know how traffic controls work in Germany, don't rely on hearsay, but on videos that show it. Achtung Kontrolle is one of the most popular TV formats in Germany because it shows reality. ua-cam.com/video/w8Mhn4pBHxo/v-deo.html
