    Great video. People really reacted to the short tails. Question. Is there ever a benefit to stressing (slightly inadequate or below the established husbandry guidelines) a quarantined snake to try and tease out any illness that lies dormant, kind of a stress test? Sort of like running a car engine hard when test driving to see if anything breaks before purchase.

      Yes, that is definitely an idea I've considered! Personally I feel testing prior to shipping is probably not so useful if the snake is happy in it's home colony, as it may not shed enough virus to test positive. But testing in the few days after arrival after the stress of shipping and a new environment actually does a pretty good job bringing low-level virus to the surface. Our in vitro virus research shows the virus has a growth cycle of ~24 hours, so within a few days of a stressful event is probably when you're most likely to get a positive test from a healthy snake that may otherwise be happy enough to just not shed enough virus to test as positive.
