I would consider him pro. Anyone with decent skill at these days can make the AM ranking. His skill is above average and he has got the heart and mindset of a long-term skateboarder.
Ben that one time you told those kids with the drones "This is a skate park youknow." That was feisty Ben. We like how genuine and polite you are. It is just a cut above the rest these days.
If you’re a fan of deluxe shapes, I think you’d really like quasi or polar boards. Lots of room on the nose like an FA board, but not as extreme and a little more symmetrical/popsicle. I rode antihero boards, switched to FAs, and now I think the quasi team board I’m on right now is a perfect medium. Same w the polar board I just snapped
Dominon! Their factory was in Brampton ON...we used to raid their garbage all the time and get bits and pieces until we could afford to buy the 4 or 5 pro decks available at the local sports store when I was a kid
48, still skate. A bit tamer than 20 years ago. Took a hard fall on my skull, woke up a month later. Slowed me down, but made me advocate for helmets. Especially in Down Hill Mode.
You can still get the superstars in New Zealand, I just picked some up the other day, comfiest shoes I’ve ever worn. Hit me up if you wanna grab some, I could ship them to ya and it’ll probably be cheaper
Growing up in the Midwest we use to all meet up wherever there wasn’t snow during the winter, it would be anywhere from 0-20 degrees on some days, if you love it you’ll do it, you can’t explain it Last winter it got down to -57 with the windchill and come summer time it was 111 with over 90% humidity LOL
Loving the vids man, especially the reviews but mostly the shredding! I’m needing some new shoes, can’t wait to figure that one out! But hey, I learned to Ollie and drop in week three. I’m pumped!!!
Love your videos. 1) Have u tried/what are ur thoughts on softer street wheels like 53mm minilogo 90a's, or Bones ATF's. (for ur type of skating) 2) Whats ur filming set up - do u just use your phone, a mini tripod, and a charger for xtra battery life? 3) Thoughts on a helmet for ~ your caliber. I didn't wear one in the 90's and don't now, but a head injury would be inconvenient regarding career/studying 4) What park is that in van? Thanks, u inspire!
Great channel, i'm a big fan of your reviews. I've heard good things about some underdog truck brands like Minilogo and Tensor ATG, it would be really interesting to hear your take on them, anything in the works?
my first board was in '94-5ish (I don't clearly recall). Powell-Peralta Tony Hawk Gems deck. It was new school era but old school was still being sold. I didn't know any better, got me an old school deck.
This was a good Q and A. Potential vs skill. I liked this part. However, i would like to think i still have potential at 42 and beyond. Everythung i have learned other than an ollie i learned in my 40s.
only cause I find your interest/knowledge and opinion of skating intriguing, (and I have asked this before but didn't get a response) Who would you pick for the Canadian Olympic Skateboard team, M/F. Also as an beginner, am I shooting myself in the foot trying to learn at 35 on a shaped deck?
Ben is it normal that bushings break fast? Like in a matter of days. I'm unsure to spend money on new ones but my trucks are all off-axis and crooked and it's hard to mantain balance during difficult tricks. Should I buy them? And should I pick bushings from the brand of my trucks? Thanks a lot man. Amazing channel!
I guess it's individual since it takes me couple of seconds to get used to new bushings. I've never had to break in new trucks (except going from indys 139 to 144). I think you'll be fine, it'll take maybe more time to get used to it. I can recommend bones or indepedent bushing, haven't ridden anything else.
Street only I think youd be fine with lows. Quick pop, low weight, and i think they flick a tad faster because everything is so close in on the bottom. Only negative I've found is that they have zip for kingpin clearance. But it only really seems to bother me when skating transition.
Ben! could you please give me a little bit of advice please? I ride 149 hollow indys on a 8.25 deck, I have bones medium bushings and like my trucks quite loose, I can ride very stable and have decent balance, but I feel like when I do moving ollies or any trick while rolling I'll land then fall off 2 seconds later, (not wheelbite just unstable landing) I think it's because my board lands ever so slightly crooked, any exercises or advice? I don't feel like riding tight trucks as I love manuals and feel like loose trucks help me with them
So you don't get a wheel bite but still fall off your board? I can't really image how that happens. You need to have your weight distributed above the middle of the board, not landing leaned sideways.
I WANNA KNOW WHAT TED IS UP TO!!! i grew up watching him and in 5foot12, Monké (sp?), and the North videos and I request the knowledge from you that i so desire. Please and thank you.
Adidas is the best skate shoe. Try the MJ. Mark Johnson The one with the extra rubber on the nose maybe a tad ugly but solid great shoe and you can get it with out. Oh, and it's also know as Adidas Matchcourt.
do they suck? we have some in our shop and no one, i repeat, NO ONE in our entire city ever rode them. we're pretty much an indy/venture -city. strangely only very few thunder-guys. heard that they (ace's) rock in bowls and on vert tho..?
@@marionellisgudoy2058 I wish it were that simple😞, it's like no matter how straight I bend down and up to pop or try to jump back even, the board still goes behind me. I just don't understand it yo😔

No problem. Thank you for the best content.
Would be awesome to see you skate the H Street king size decks again, Hokus Pokus from ‘89 still holds up today.
Anything h street holds up these days.

Great vibe, great skater & humble person. Thanks for uploading videos Ben🙏🛹
I was born in the winter of 1992 and I just started skating this summer. Your videos are probably the best skating content on the internet.
im 107. how much progress can in i make ben?
can we ever get a cameo from brother ted doing the signature nollie cab heel? or does this rare trick run in the family ben?
Just Ted does them.
I see you got the big boy foy board. I brought his limited edition board, which is a 8.5 with a 31.7 length, normally a 32 on 8.5 decks
Speaking for a lot of people, we like what you do. I'll try harder and quit wasting time. Been skating 30 years and starting to fade.
God dammit...you're going to make me start skating again, aren't you?
Best skateboarding youtuber out. Crooked grind pinch shit was funny lol
I love it when you fall. It’s like you’re jumping really really high and fast into bed and then just falling asleep

the bump-to-barrier varial heel that Ted pulled in 5foot12 is nuts. It was cool to see an older clip of you in the video too, that line was sick.

nothing cooler than a badass grind with a couple of two year olds on frilly bikes wobbling around in the background :p
How often you go/can skate in week or month?? How long was the break? When/how old you were when you stop and when you start again?
man, frontside blunts are the scariest trick. how do you even get them switch let alone normal?
I was super scared to try the first one. It was a bit of a leap of faith. Once I tried the first one and didnt die it was on! I just went super fast.

On the truck pinch question. Is it impossible to nail down crooked grinds with really tight trucks?

Hi ben could you please do a review on a crailtap board with royal trucks please.. im really interested in wot you think about the trucks..
During the favorite shoe question, when you said the new balance shoe, were you referring to the 420?
No. The 533v2
You said on your videos deluxe numbers Their concave. I just got a four today is that the steepest or the mellowest?
Are you brother with Ted Degros?
Looking forward to the Deathwish review.
