This Grand trunk western mogul was built in 1910. It originally served the GTW until being sold to the Canadian national and renumbered to 89. 89 was bought by Strasburg and has been running ever since.
@@DynamoProductions-trainsI am a major fan of the videos, fantastic work on this one, favorite engine for me is 475 and looks like David Boyer was driving 89 and he did a great job with 89 here. Keep up the great work
Wow I love the amazing shots, and I love 89 picking up speed at you guys were chasing it! I loved the shot with the rods and how did you get that shot? Wow I was amazed! Thanks for sharing the video!
***** Contracts and any work that needs to be done on 90,475 or 89, like 90's Annual, RGS #20, etc. Until they finish all of that it wont have any major work done.
PereMarquette1223 in 2015, 90 was getting its 1472. 89 just got done with its 1472. Now, 475 is about to go through it’s 1472 if it hasn’t already. Then maybe more work will continue on 31.

did they reduce the diameter of the boiler on 89? with those number plates and the headlight in the middle it looks out of proportion. those number plates gotta go and the headlight needs to go back where it belongs
There were no alterations made to the boiler size. The headlight and number board are in prototypical Canadian National styling and positioning, just as the 89 and other E-10-a's looked in service on the CN. The high mounted headlight was a tourist era modification made to 89 and a couple other E-10-a's.
Head light and number boards are exactly where they belong. Look up other E-10-a's that survived to see for yourself. M&H 91 or CNR 96. You'll find that headlight styling and positioning on other CNR engines of the era as well, CN 3254, CN 7470, 2141, etc etc.
I don't no if bnsf would be to happy if I just hoped in a train and started your way I probably would get in trouble for it as a kid all I had to do is hop in and go now days how many years can u get for barrowing a train

These Engines May be old, But they still have life left in them.
Great footage of the old girl before The SRR decided to change out her whistle. Love the chase scene too.
Glad you enjoyed
It's nice to see a 110-yr old machine perking along at a good clip, as if she was a youngster. She seems to reach a decent speed, around 3:30-4:00 ...
Another FANTASTIC Strasburg video....you tellers sure know how to shoot a fine, fine, super fine video....nothing but the best, I 💘 LOVE IT!!
✌😁
Thank you

Stratsburg 89 is my favorite locomotive
Good choice
Also mine

A job very well done!!
Thank you!
By the way, #89 is SO pretty, strutting her stuff and showing off...just watched it for the 4th time!! ✌☺
Glad you enjoyed
Engine 81, the sister to 89, is on static display in Palmerston ON Canada. Built in the same shop for the Grand Trunk Railway.

Eastern may be he asked somebody who was in the cab if they could place a cam on the rods and they prob yes
2:43-4:00 Epic pacing shot!!
This video is great. Nice work.

that whistle 89 is wearing reminds me of 587

edit: damn, this feels nostalgic, like really, been 1 year that i commented this
2 years now!
A very fresh 7312 tender was at the second to last clip, hopefully it means good things!
No, sadly. She is still in the shop and is not a major priority at this time. Hopefully some work will get done on her soon though
What's the priority in the shops right now?

@@MPT_Productions how long do these inspections take
Next time for the whistle can you do the Whippoorwill call
I think we'll leave the Whippoorwill calls to the birds. I doubt a steam engine could compete with a Whippoorwill bird on Whippoorwill calls anyway.
Ok that’s fine with me
Keep up the good work 🤗

@@photonegativemickey3733 ik its beautiful
Highballing, well at least as good as well get
They do decent speed at Strasburg, and 89 is the quickest of the engines there. It put on a great show
@@DynamoProductions-trains certainly!
What sort of mounts were being used on the locomotive here (in the cab, etc). Just curious, been looking for mounts to do the same things.
That whistle almost sounds like Santa Fe 3751's old whistle.
It’s a Chicago Burlington & Quincy 5 chime.
@@jacksonfleegal5241 yes, its linda beautiful to hear, but why its not her currently whistle?

What did you do to get In the Cab, I have always wanted to get the cab of a Strasburg loco! I may or may not be a 475 foamer lol
No one was in the cab filming, we had a camera mounted on the tender to get the cab shots.
ah, a cab ride at Strasburg would be cool though.
31’s whistle on 89?
31's whistle is a 3 chime, a Crosby reportedly, in this video 89 is wearing a GTW 5 chime.
@@DynamoProductions-trains Is that an acronym for Chicago Burlington & Quincy? I thought it was that whistle.
@@DynamoProductions-trains its a CB&Q 5 chime not a GTW 5 chime

I don’t really like that 5 Chime on 89 it doesn’t suit a little 2-6-0 like that
But its fits perfectly
