When will Alex get the recognition he deserves? Alex Skolnick is a damn legend.
Well, I think he's a very well respected musician and he's had a very good career, he has solid technical chops, he has a very good sense of melody and he is also expressive and well balanced in his playing. I like his work with Testament the best, even though the boundaries of the genre didn't give him a whole lot of space, he made the most out of his solos and came out with some legendary licks. Nice work also on Savatage's HOR although I wish he didn't palm mute so much on his solo parts. One of my fave guitarists without a doubt.
out of the thrash era him and rocky George are my favorite
Was gonna say the same. Very underappreciated.
Wow, Alex did such an amazing job playing the entire song including solo's! No added fluff or filler, just played it like it was written by Randy. Very impressive. Thanks for this gem!

Damn, skolnick OWNED this. I love that guy, what a beast.
Note for Note soloing...thank you Sir Skolnick honoring Randy Rhoads..🎸🎸
Alex is just capable of anythig on his work. Top between tops. His playing is a complete trip. Thanks Mr A.S.
Randy was 21 when he and Ozzy wrote this. He brought out the best in Ozzy. His solos are some of the greatest in the history of rock and roll. The synergy of classical and heavy metal will never be repeated. such a tragic loss for music, I am so glad his memory lives through these true musicians.
Damn, Skolnik killed those leads! I'm impressed.
Fn Awesome Cover.. Huge Props to Skolnick for not tryin Glam it up n add a ton of unnecessary crap sweeps n riffs.. he just plain.. nailed it
Love the smile on Alex's face as he plays Randy's solos. Joy to watch and listen to.
Alex is an awesome dude. I met him at a guitar seminar years ago, super humble guy
Hats off to you Mr Skolnick - that's great!
Alex is the greatest thrash metal guitarist out there. Such an amazing talent. Very soulful and expressive he makes every note count. Not only his work in Testament but his ventures into jazz and world music bring so much to thrash metal and helps to establish it as a virtuous genre of music.
As a hardcore Randy Rhoads fan, really means a lot to see Rudy Sarzo on stage honoring him, half a lifetime since his passing....How many can say they got to be on stage with Randy? I bet he was thinking about the old days when he was up there....
I was here. Rudy was the heart of it all. Without him it would have fallen short. Alex is a respectful musician, so I enjoyed his performance, knowing he respects Randy's musicianship, even with showing some of his own abilities inside of this.
Ditto here. Rudy Sarzo is a stand up guy. He always speaks fondly and respectfully of his departed friend and bandmate Randy Rhoads.
I was fortunate enough to see Rudy play with Ozzy in 1983 on the 'Diary of a Madman' tour. Brad Gillis finished out the tour playing guitar in Randy's place. In 2010 I saw and met Brad along with his fellow bandmates from Night Ranger. He played phenomenally during both concerts.
I often wonder where Randy would be and what he would be doing had he not perished?
You can tell that Alex loves his craft with heart and soul.he seemed so happy playing the solo.what a complete legend.
This is the best Rhoads cover I have seen from these performances. Hands down. Skolnick was able to do a similar honorable job performing Criss Oliva's guitar parts during his brief stint in Savatage. Oliva was definitely in the same league as Randy Rhoads, and Skolnick too.
Hard to belive. This is completly stupid content. Bad Jazzy Crowley...
They're both great guitarists, but not in the same league as Randy - he was more unique and creative, and his riffs and solos were more memorable and well-composed. Randy was also an innovator who had complete mastery over his instrument, much like Jimi Hendrix.
NOT in the same league!
HinjuRock lmao you ever heard hall of the mountain king album, everything after aswell is so good.Rhoads was the greatest but in my opinion Criss oliva was up there with him and he never got the recognition.
@@salifmohammed8686
Not all of it, but I got a copy of Sirens in the mid-80's. Criss Oliva was great, but as I said, Randy was one in a billion.
Alex nailed it perfectly!
Hats off to Rudy Sarzo. A stayer through the decades. He has leant his talents on so many rock and metal masterpieces.
Skolnick is a brilliant player. Nothing he can’t do well on the axe.
The look of pure joy on Alex's face playing these legendary solos is priceless!
Mr.Skolnick is a totally underated master.
Alex...👏👏👏👏👏bravoooooooo!!!!!!🤘🤘🤘the best tribute cover......👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Alex is just so damn good , looked like he loved doing those solos
Alex and gsry holt were always my favorite players
Some of the best Randy Rhoades playing I've ever heard....nice work Alex!!!
Amazing job as usual Mr.Skolnick.
Yeah... Skolnick is a complete BADASS!
Alex is very talented! He knows the book, and he didn't seem to struggle while doing the solo.
Randy IS STILL amazing.
the song is relatively easy for alexthe guy's amazing and can also easily tackle evhs stuff. As a guitar player trust me it's alot harder playing alex's stuff.
As mentioned... Alex is great. However, he does not have the memorable solos like Randy does. Sure, Testament is great. The legacy shows some of his best work, but the jazz influence makes him one of a kind.
However, Randy has the classical side, plus Ozzy being the front man made that era the definitive point. I also play guitar.
+zzzhuh I wasn't knocking on rhoads I was just saying from a technical aspect rhoads solos are far easier than anthing alex has ever done so I wasn't suprised alex could tackle the solo in such a cool way. Alex has also had 30+ years of being a musician I have no doubt rhoads would have gotten more technical and varied but unfortunately taken from us too young, but I do agree with what you're saying but I do think alex has provided many memorable solos and influenced many modern guitar players as rhoads has. Anyways cheers it's just so cool seeing these guys paying tribute to one of the greatest guitar players of all time.
And still the best :-) ♫♫♫ RIP Randall William Rhoads ♥
Skolnick is amazing and I can see him right up there with Randy. Would love to see him tackle Diary which is the best thing Randy ever did and is beyond words. I know this, Skolnick makes Kerry King look like even more of the joke he is...
Alex shredding his hero with such proficiency and passion...damn I love him.
You see the pure joy on the face of Alex as he played Randy's guitar parts?.....that is the feeling EVERY guitarist gets when Randy's spirit touches them playing these songs........
Alex did phenomenal. No showboating, no adlibing, just sticking to the song how it was originally played. This puts him miles above all the asshats who think they can play this song better than Randy Rhodes.
Alex isn't my favorite guitarist but he absolutely owned this rendition and it shows he had a great time playing it. The whole band was outstanding.
These guys seem to click really well, awesome tribute to Randy :)
Ozzy - there is your next guitar player....pay him well he deserves every dollar....HE SMOKED EVERY SINGLE PLAYER ON THESE SHOWS....hands down. And he did it with allot of emotion which you can feel and hear.
Skolnick had a very brief stint with Ozzy. Not sure what Ozzy (or should I say Sharon) was thinking when they let him go. Alex is easily one of the best guitar players on the planet.
Yeah. I know it's old news, but I was SOOOOO sick of the "wanna-be-Viking, Pinch Harmonic King", Zakk.
Zakk is so fuckin overrated. Jake was and is 10 times the guitar player Zakk is.
I heard Sharon felt he fit the image, apparently Alex didn't wear his guitar low enough.
Dafyd Maddz these days I agree. Sharon is a total butt head 😂
This song is a masterpiece and holds within all of Randy’s treasures it’s literally a work of magic
I forgot to add to that the the song itself is about a magical dude too-The connection is much deeper than we probably could imagine
Alex Skolnick is fantastic at anything he plays. He really appreciates the musicality of what he’s playing. He knew there was no need to elaborate on the solos 🙂
FANTASTIC ! Vocalist strong too.
Nice job
Hello are you also one of my fans/supporters out there?
I have already pledged my undying support and Allegiance to Mr. Skolnick decades ago!
I see this video and I keep thinking to myself damn how fucking Great was Randy..... RIP
Probably the best solo recreation by any guitarist done.
They all look and perform like real rockers. Nice, dedicated, passionate show.
Alex is a fricken monster with massive respect for Randy.
It absolutely shows here.
Much much respect sir..🙏🏼
Alex has always been one of my favorite guitarist, he’s amazing and so down to earth too. Practice what you Preach is one of the best albums ever in metal.
A great tribute to Randy. I respect everybody's opinions. But we have to value this new generation. Climbing the stage and playing these classics with the quality presented is for the few. Brian Tichy manages to bring together great musicians on this project. Congratulations on the Front Row Dave video!
Since Crowley is my all time favorite Randy song, I of course feel this was the best song of the night. So many talented musicians paying homage to a man whose playing has grown to legend status and might I add deservedly so!
That is one KICKASS SOLO!!!
absolutely!!
There is more than one in that song, the whole song is a guitar masterpiece, Alex played it closer to randy than ANYONE I have heard, EVER, I enjoyed all of this tribute and thanks for posting

Rudy Sarzo is the worlds best hard rock & heavy metal Master Bass Guitarist in Europe & the worlds.
Skolnick.!!! Awesome
Alex you are one of my guitar gods... brilliant!!!!!!
Alex is the best musician on the planet. The throne was there when Randy left. Alex took it. He moves me. As Randy did. They remind me I shouldnt pick up my guitar ever again
or dont spend a lot of time trying to be someone else, play what you like and do well instead of what someone thinks you should play.
Graham Collinson excusesnexcuses
@@trillrifaxegrindor4411 Randy was Alex's hero so it's obvious that Randy has a lot of influence on Alex's playing and he played like Randy to honor him
Great job!
That was kickass and thank GOD for Randy
Nice leads by Skolnick.

I saw Randy with Ozzy a few months before his death... A MASTER
Wow! Just WOW! Alex is Randy!
Nobody but Rudy plays the bass like that , nobody but Rudy ,good to see him still jamming!
Amazing guitar work Alex!-Brian W.
Best solo guitar player in thrash metal!
Was at the show and thought everyone did a great job. This was definitely a highlight as well as Revelation Mother Earth in which Mike Orlando blew my head off and turned his guitar into sawdust. Thanks to BrianTichy,,Joe Sutton, The Rhoads Family for a great night. As far as the vocals Mike Devin did a good job. Other than Ozzy circa 1981 who else would come close?
jperryfan RME would have to be in my Top 5 RR solos. Just insanely sweet.
Happy to see Alex delivering this!
Rudy ... What a fucking beast.
Damn! Alex is just amazing!
Mr Crowley = Randy then Skolniiiiiick!!!!!
Grea guitarist Alex .. RR bless you !

Jesus what a beautiful solo. Alex is a Demi God of metal guitar
Now that's how you play one of Randy's solos! Fucking EXCELLENT!
that gong went off...epic!
Cudos to Mr Skolnick, he played authentically in his style, while paying homage to a legend!
So Impressive, always liked Alex, but equally impressive he got his masters in music just like Randy was going to! Much respect!!
Alex totally killed it here!
Flawless Victory.
Just wow!!
Awesome seeing Rudy playing...
Great Ozzy cover!
Phenomenal!
Michael Devin sings very well for being a bass player.
Randy would be proud of you
Absolutely great cover. Skolnick is so good. Stuck to the original where he should and put his own feel in it.
Alex fuckin' nailed it!!!
Alex Scholick is such a VERY Underrated guitarist. He's been with TESTAMENT Foreever, Alex & Eric Peterson are an amazing tandom.
Alex is 1 of the best guitar player ever got my taste with testament
Para que no quede dudas.. Alex Skolnick la rompe..
Must get my hands on Alex's Marshall cabs with the steel front grilles!
