    Hi, I just made your dog hat for my daughter’s sighthound. So I made the neck longer, and I used thicker needles (6mm) so the hat became bigger. It worked very well! Thank you 🙏🏻

    Thank you I managed to complete this hat for my dog. I’m hoping to pop it on him to block some of the noise of the fireworks which his terrified by.
    I noticed you’re a combination knitter. You knit in the western style, then you purl in the Eastern style, so the leading leg of the stitch ends up at the back once work is turned.
    I used to to do the same thing with my purl stitches too, I would wrap my yarn clockwise and pull through with the bottom of my needle. But nowadays, I always wrap my yarn anti-clockwise over the top of my needle and pull through that way. So when I turn my work all my stitches are mounted the same way, it is easier for me now. It took my brain a bit to stop doing it the old way though lol.
    It’s funny how many people knit differently, but as long their way works for them, then it’s correct.

      That is a very interesting comment, and I thank you for your input. I will have to investigate this further for sure. Do you find that you are getting faster with the change that you incorporated? It is overall easier to knit that way? I would be curious to know more about how it has been for you. You are very flexible to learn a new way to purl and break that old habit! Wow! Thank you!

      @@LuckyFoxKnits Yeah, it took me a while to get my muscle memory to stop purling the way I used to. I just cast on some stitches and started practicing until I felt I had it.
      My stitches are always mounted the same way now so it has really helped my knitting.
      I could never understand why after I had purled stitches my leading leg would end up in the back once I’d turned my work. So I started to look for answers on UA-cam and found “Roxanne Richardson” and watched one of her technique Tuesday videos and once she explained it.
      Then I finally understood it was the way I was wrapping my yarn when purling.
      I will try and find the video for you. It’s helped me loads and made my knitting flow better and my speed too.
      I love your little dog hats they’re so cute. I’m going to try the Christmas one next after I’ve finished my current wip cardigan.

    good choice of yarn for beginners, because of how its made the strands dont come apart when you start over etc, also you dont grab half a strand by mistake, this is my second time knitting and if youre a beginner youll save yourself a headache with this yarn

    Thank you for sharing! Your patterns are very nice and my dachshund is happy and warm!
    I have a problem that I don’t understand with this hat . I can’t cast on 52 on three needles. 52 divided 3 does not work out.
    I bought the bundle of sweaters a couple months back and I the same problem. How many stitches did you have on one needle? Thanks in advance :)

    • @LuckyFoxKnits
      @LuckyFoxKnits  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you for your question. The stitches don't need to be divided evenly. You may have as many or as few stitches on each DPN as is comfortable for you. The stitch count doesn't need to be even. For example, when I knit my own dog hat design (one that rewires 48 sts), I cast right onto double pointed needles, and I cast 15 sts onto the first needle, 16 onto the next one, and 17 onto the last needle. :) Hope this helps.

    • @LuckyFoxKnits
      @LuckyFoxKnits  4 роки тому +9

      @@karlahernandez-qv5qz Yes, it will take months. You see, I would have to develop an entirely new design, and test it several times to make sure there were no mistakes. Possibly I would have to develop the design in several sizes. Then I would need to do a photo shoot, edit the photos, compose the layout for the PDF, release the written pattern, then make the video (film it, edit it, and post it.) I also work a full time job, and having done all this before many times, I have a realistic idea of how long it will take. Don't worry though, I will for sure get it done. Maybe not lighting fast, but it will be a masterpiece!

      There is not specific number that's best. Arrange the stitches so that it is comfortable for you to work, and that's it. I like to do 15 on the first needle, 16 on the second, and 17 on the last needle = 48.
