    Great Video, some insights in to the seating arrangements, and other related stuff vis-a-vis other boats would have been interesting, food for thought for future videos, loved this one.

    Would you consider in making a “series” of videos that would educate potential first time boat buyers/owners. ie.. what to consider when buying a boat, recommendations for what to look for, all the plugs and so on and so forth. I know it’s a lot but I really like the content and I guess it was just a question. If not, I’m also ok with the content you’re pumping out👍🏽👍🏽

    Love your channel, I had a question. I am new to wake boats and you said in the video they’re not designed to be run at wide open throttle for long periods of time. Can you elaborate on time? because where we drop in and where we spend most of our time down river isn’t just a five minute boat ride. Want to make sure I’m treating this thing right.

    • @ChantelBoats
      @ChantelBoats  4 роки тому

      I just wouldn’t run full throttle for any amount of time. I know people do it all the time, but it’s not as fuel efficient, doesn’t handle rough water as well, makes the engine work super hard, etc.

    Thanks for all the great videos as always! Interesting that you mentioned that the USB port below the drive phone holder is supposed to be for updates/uploading. Could it be possible that some of the screen freezes and reboots I've been experiencing are from trying to charge my phone with that port all the time? Also - do you know if the charging pads work for iPhones?

    • @ChantelBoats
      @ChantelBoats  3 роки тому

      Yes, that could definitely be part of it. Anytime you plug into that port it starts looking for an update, and if it doesn't find one it could certainly start to act up.
      My iPhone charges on all the chargers.

    It's me again.. lol I have better luck getting a response here then from my own dealership unfortunately. I know that the new M5 and M6 are prone to burning up the impellers - I have a 2021 Malibu 21 VLX and I have 44 hours and my engine chewed up an impeller. I went and bought a new one from my dealership and installed it myself (not too difficult). I put the plate on and everything looks good. I also took a look at the sea strainer and I noticed that it was clean; however, it didn't appear to have water flowing through it. When I look at the sea strainer while the engine is on, should it look like water is gushing in and out of it? Or is it normal to have the appearance of something that is empty/still? I am going to call my dealership service department on Tuesday - but just wanted to see if you had an insight. I really enjoy this channel because it's very authentic and super super helpful!

    • @ChantelBoats
      @ChantelBoats  3 роки тому

      The impeller issue should be solved at this point - they had a couple of bad batches, but we're back on track! The sea strainer should be full of water when the engine is running, if the sea strainer isn't getting water, the engine isn't! It doesn't necessarily have a bunch of air bubbles running through it, sometimes it's hard to tell if water is even in there.

    What’s the draft like on these? Is it close to the factory stated 27” and what level of water would you run them in? I live in a shallow area of the Willamette upriver from the west linn boat dock near the surf zone. Thanks!

    • @ChantelBoats
      @ChantelBoats  3 роки тому

      With these, if I get in 5 feet of water, I am on high alert. Four feet, I would be going wakeless and have people looking out for me for rocks. Three feet, I am shutting the boat off and walking it out of there!
      For surfing, the deeper the water the better! Trying to surf in shallow water can mess with your wave!

    We have a ‘21 20 VTX with the ski tower (not the standard one). The Bimini is different than this one and wondering if we can leave the swinging metal arms clipped when trailering? The top is collapsed, but do we need to turn the clips and unlatch? Our battery has the 2 settings too but different than the video (can’t go to 9 o clock) when we are running the boat regularly should it be at 3 o’clock or 6? And our power button doesn’t do anything. It lights up but does not shut off the boat unless you turn the battery to off. Thanks so much for your helpful video and apologies for all the questions!

    • @ChantelBoats
      @ChantelBoats  2 роки тому

      If the arms are secure, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to leave them while towing. If it prevents you from strapping the bimini to the tower, I would unlatch. For your batteries, does it say "Off", "On", and "Combine"? If so, you should run on the "On" position. That will run a charge through both batteries, but only draw from one. If you don't have enough juice to start the boat, you can switch to "Combine". Sounds like you are using the key to power up the boat? No need to have the key turned on or even in the boat for it to run. You can power up with the power button, then use the Start/Stop button to start and stop the engine.

    so on my 2017 axis the owners manual specifically states to run off 1 battery at all times and only switch to the other battery if the primary is dead. then once started using the back up battery switch over to both to recharge both. any thoughts here?

    • @ChantelBoats
      @ChantelBoats  3 роки тому

      I'll have to look into the wiring/battery system on a 2017 - could be different now, but I like running both because I want them getting a charge and not just sitting dormant for a long period of time.

    Hi Chantel, my family is getting a 2019 Malibu 24MXZ in 2 weeks. I have heard that these boats sit low in the water, especially under heavy ballast loads. The dealer was telling me that the MXZ’s are prone to taking water over the bow with surf waves. Do you have any advice on how to prevent taking on water over the bow when surfing/ wakeboarding, or just in general? I have heard that if you turn “away” from the side being surfed on, it helps?
    THANKS!!

    • @ChantelBoats
      @ChantelBoats  3 роки тому +1

      If the boat is pulling a surfer or a wakeboarder, the bow is sitting high enough that it won't be an issue. When you stop, you're exactly right, turn away from the rider. Pull the throttle ALL THE WAY back at the same time you turn the wheel all the way away from the rider and the boat will do a full 180 spin so you can go right back down your path to pick up your rider without having to go over your own waves. Try it a couple times before you have a surfer back there, just to make sure you've got it. Congrats on the new boat!!

    Sorry one more question… our lights stay on our 2021 20 VTX when running at all times? Even when I do “all off” on the light menu. Normal?

    • @ChantelBoats
      @ChantelBoats  2 роки тому

      Hi Maggie! If you are using the key and not the start/stop button, the boat assumes you are in an emergency situation and the anchor light and nav lights will be on. Is that what is happening?

    I have a 2021 Malibu 21 VLX and when I click the preset "Surf Left" or "Surf Right" - my hard tanks fill-up; but my Plug-N-Play Bags don't - unless I wait for the hard tanks to fill up, click the back two tanks and click "Fill" on the screen. I've talked to the dealer that I bought the boat from and they think that those bags should automatically be filling up - but they aren't. Do you have any insight as to why my Plug-N-Play bags don't automatically fill when I click those presets after the hard tanks are filled? Thank you!

    • @ChantelBoats
      @ChantelBoats  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Andrew! Most of the new models have the L-shaped ballast tanks in the rear so the bags would fill as the tanks fill. The 21VLX has the flat ballast tanks, so it fills the tanks first, then overflows into the bags. The sensor is in the tank, so there isn't a way for it to measure what is in the bags. The way you are doing it is correct, once they stop at 100%, push fill again for each and let them fill as much as you want. If I have a crew of 4 or more in that boat, I don't usually even use the bags, just a little more Wedge. Congrats on the new boat!

      We all have our preferences, they aren’t my favorite. The combination of Surf Gate and the Wedge makes my favorite wake, and when I was spending my own money, I bought an Axis! But if you find one that you like and it does what you want it to do, that’s all that matters!

      Either one! Wake is the same, handles the same. Pickle fork is a little harder to get back on a trailer because you have to be right on track, but it’s nice to have all that space up front if you need it. I would pick what feels/looks the best to you!
