I miss being a kid in the 90s. This clip reminds me of those Sundays when dad would be watching cricket at home while I'm doing my homework or playing cricket at the park, delicious food being cooked at home, relatives are visiting and all. Even the Sun used to shine differently then 🥺

You are right. Few points I want to highlight Laxman came late on the scene. That 281 was his redemption innings. Thereon he cemented his place. In 90s he didn't perform that well. Mostly flop innings. His 167 against Australia in Australia was only inning to single out during 1990s. SRT and siddhu were consistent. Siddhu was out of team often but when he was played he played well most of the times. Before ganguly and dravid broke into the scene, that is 1996, it was mostly Azhar kambli jadeja manjrekar to anchor innings and SRT and siddhu providing opening partnership. Prabhakar also opened few times between 1993 to 1996 before he was dropped for good from the team. Then came robin Singh which added a bowling all rounder with tenacious batting ability for India. Still our middle order sucked. If we were 6 down then it was a matter of time the last 4 wickets fell in quick succession. We sucked at chasing games. We lost a lot of matches against Australia Sri Lanka Pakistan south Africa and west indies during between 1995 to 1999. Those were the days of great bowlers and conditions and rules suited them. Also the mentality of teams were not of hard hitting as it is today. When sehwag yuvraj came into team I think it was 2000 our batting became quite aggressive. And with zaheer as fast bowler we had finally a balanced team. I have to give credit to Azhar for being a smart captain. He utilized the trio of Srinath prasad and kumble well and tbh they weren't that great bowlers for Odi. Still we managed to win a decent number of matches.

The simple thing is .. if u want to deal legspin u have to attack .. that’s wat Indians did .. take a good look at ball of the century .. and Andrew Strauss dismissal.. they looked to defend .. that’s y that dismissals looks special ..

@@talibhassan652Laxman debut innings fifty was Match Winning one.The 95 he hit against warne and co in 1998 was classy innings too.Thing about vvs was that he was very confident of playing well in bouncy conditions even before he toured He got injured in 1996 that missed that SA tour.Second to this he was always thought of Azhar loyalist from Sachin camp.Hence he missed out on opportunities.

Kambli's career went spiralling down after 1996 world Cup. He was the second highest run getter after Tendulkar (highest run scorer of that world Cup) from India. He was the lone batter standing on the ground during that infamous semifinal match. He got dropped from the squad on disciplinary ground(that's what we read in Sportstar magazine).

These videos send you back in memory lane where the game of Cricket had its true essence in it unlike in today's crap. What a beautiful game it had been with its two formats; Tests and ODIs ? .... Now with the heavy commercialization of the game during the past decade or so (mostly after 2010-12 ...) especially with the introduction and the widespread adoption of the format T20, pretty much every aspect of the game has become quite overly tailor-made for batsmen, and it has become nothing but an over-hyped circus adopted, adapted and maintained for nothing but the commercial exploitation. In the process, the game has quite definitely lost its true essence of the balance between the bat and ball .... The fake heroism has become quite synonymous with pretty much everything today ....

    *74 on ODI debut
*Most fifties by any Indian in 1987 world cup
*Got the name sixer sidhu because he continuously hit Warne for sixes winning match for India.
*When he played 100 matches his batting average was approximately 41. He had issues with Azhar later on and his average went down a little like 39 or something. Sidhu went and never came back Rest is history azhars fixing allegations and his scandals is known...
