This was an awesome match!!! Thanks for uploading. David Houghton also played in this match. Two days before this match Saba Karim almost did the same against South Africa. The all White Zimbabwe team used to be a decent side in bowling friendly conditions.
I very well remember this game watching it till 1.30 - 2 am. ODIs between Ind vs Zim in late 90s and early 2000 used to be a good contest. India had defeated Zim in the last match of the tri series to qualify into the finals
the match was all but lost until Robin Singh came. A great transformation unbelievable. Remember watching this match with friends but went to sleep when India was losing wickets fast and the next day realized I missed all the thrills. Craig Evans was one tough player and Eddo Brandes was a superb bowler, he certainly had put on some weight when I first saw him in the 87 world cup he had appeared a very good prospect.
One shot I remember vividly was played by Dave Houghton during this series against India (I guess India, South Africa & Zimbabwe triangle series played in South Africa), which was a "perfect cover drive" . The way he was poised and how he despatched the ball to the boundary was delectable. Sunny Gavaskar insisted the replay to be repeated a coupla times and said "this is how a perfect cover drive should be played. I want the youngsters to watch it and learn from it". If my memory serves right , it was during that same match, Dave Houghton(team coach) and Alistair Campbell(captain) were at either end of the pitch. The commentator remarked "we don't get to see a coach and captain playing at the same time ".
I remember this. I was a young man then. I think it was a tri series. Eddo brandes, the chicken farmer was the bowler. Robin Singh became a hero after this match.
Robin singh had always been an undisputed hero of Indian cricket team. He had won many matches for India. He was like Michael Bevan, saving most of India's matches when India were in deep trouble. His strike rate was better than Sachin. Most importantly he was consistent. He was a brilliant fielder. He used to give 100%.
I am so lucky to witness the golden era of Indian cricket, Ganguly the person who's selfless determination in making the Indian team that is today shouldnt be undermined
please dont compare robin singh or anyone for that matter to LANCE KLUSENER. I have never till date seen another all rounder of his callibre. there can be poor man versions of Klusener but that sportsman has singularly remained stuck in my mind without anyone coming close to him since.
robin singh contributed in great way during few years of his stint with indian team. Great cricketer.. always gave 100 %.. bowling fielding batting.. liked him .. wish he could have picked up n team at early age
I remember watching this man... Robin Singh was the most grounded, humble and hard working cricketer Indian Team ever had... Sincerity in his eyes and no non sense attitude said it all. R. I. P. Heath Streak 🙏
Same yaaar... I even stopped watching cricket when that sachin, ganguly and dravid team leaved/retired cricket.... :😢 Not so much intrest after that......
Mates, the best Indian match ever was Ind v Australia 1992 WC, when India were chasing 260 odd. Rain effected. We had to make 250+ in 47 overs and we gave it all only to fall short by a run in the last ball. Azza made 97 and Manjrekar 42 of 20 odd balls. We lost but India played like lions. Unforgettable.
Aus made 237 in 50 overs.... Rain affected, reduced 3 overs and revised target was reduced by 2 runs.... It was injustice for India.... Also for SA in sf against England...
And ravi shastri spoiled the match by not only scoring slowly but by not getting out. He is a devil who is still sticking like a leech and spoling winni.g chances as a coach.
Same thing happened in 1987 world cup also. We lost that match to Aussies because of careless batting of India. There was a prize money for Sixers and fours and batsmen played rash shots. 56 was needed in last 10 overs with 6 wickets in hand we lost it by 1 run.
Yes truly it's very precious and Golden period That time I was in 6th standard third team was South Africa such a beautiful childhood memories it was Great comeback of Robin Singh in Indian Team after 6-7 years the Last over was done by Eddo Brandes of Zimbabwe Player
I won't blame a tailender but it made the difference. Robin Singh realized and waited for wide signal but Prasad was blindly running which was premeditated. Had he stayed at the crease Robin would have had to score single on last ball. Awesome finish though.
I remember this game. It was in South Africa and i went to sleep as India lost wickets, Robin singh and Saba Karim were not good enough till this batting performance, i did not count on them. When i woke up, i found that India had tied the match and then saw the highlights and i was so happily surprised by Robin singh and Karim's fight.
Of all the bowlers in current and past generation, this bowler from Zimbabwe Edo Brandes had the most smoothest bowling action just like South African to Alan Donald. Great memories from 90s and loving Cricket.
I wish teams like Zimbabwe, Kenya and West Indies will make a great comeback in world Cricket. Today the game of cricket is limited 5-6 cricket teams on the world stage.
Oh those 90's when chasing 230's also used to feel like climbing Mount Everest for that Indian team. Everyone usually played to keep their place safe. No team spirit, no fight. Somehow scraping thru. But the 90's oh they were a great time.
Also watch, If you remember this game, you grew up in 90s !!!!

still remember watching this match live staying up late in my school holidays. Time has flown by so fast.
a nail biter in those days
without t20 was so delight to watch
Robin singh had always been an undisputed hero of Indian cricket team. He had won many matches for India. He was like Michael Bevan, saving most of India's matches when India were in deep trouble. His strike rate was better than Sachin. Most importantly he was consistent. He was a brilliant fielder. He used to give 100%.
He was a true blue All Rounder at that time
This game I remember pretty well...oh so lovely so pretty...thanks for sharing the memories...👍👍👍
ஜிம்பாப்வே அணி வீரர்களை நான் ஒரு கிரிக்கேட் ரசிகனாகஒரு போதும் குறைவாக நினைத்ததில்லை

The match was brought in India's reach from nowhere by Robin singh .Only to be drawn. Man of the match was shared between Robin singh and Edo brandes
Who remembered Douglas Marillier from Zimbabwe for his unique reverse shots :-)
I remember
2002 player
Scoop
I am so lucky to witness the golden era of Indian cricket, Ganguly the person who's selfless determination in making the Indian team that is today shouldnt be undermined
Neil Johnson was an admirable cricketer. Fascinating with the bat.
Venkatesh Prasad had his brain checked after this match.
Robin singh the lance klusener of india
Deepu Mathew fr dis match yes bt fr his career he cldnt even do 20% of wat klusener did😔
Ajinkya Mane yes i called him the poor man's lance klusener jadeja was the poor man's brian mcmillan
Ajinkya Mane
and mitchell bevan too
right
please dont compare robin singh or anyone for that matter to LANCE KLUSENER.
Zimbabwe was the most under rates team of its time. Their fielding was superb and never got their due attention.
Those were the best days of my life :)
Viki Sood same here :)
Same yaaar... I even stopped watching cricket when that sachin, ganguly and dravid team leaved/retired cricket.... :😢
Not so much intrest after that......
Those were unforgettable days!!! After Sachin gets out, all the hopes used to go on the warrior Robin Singh!!!
Meri der raat tak jag ke dekhi hui match he...I enjoyed it Fully. Thanks for remembering Golden Days of Cricket. Now it's not Cricket it's Only Money.
You missed mentioning Kiran More's inning and probably Srinath's bowling
virtuosowins K More, yes. Srinath bowling? Don’t particularly recall the latter.
I remember the match, eddo Brandi's was a great bowler.
Great upload !!! Thanks a lot for sharing it!!
Yes truly it's very precious and Golden period That time I was in 6th standard third team was South Africa such a beautiful childhood memories it was Great comeback of Robin Singh in Indian Team after 6-7 years the Last over was done by Eddo Brandes of Zimbabwe Player
Robin Singh is perhaps the most underrated Indian cricketer ever
I won't blame a tailender but it made the difference. Robin Singh realized and waited for wide signal but Prasad was blindly running which was premeditated. Had he stayed at the crease Robin would have had to score single on last ball. Awesome finish though.
I remember this game. It was in South Africa and i went to sleep as India lost wickets, Robin singh and Saba Karim were not good enough till this batting performance, i did not count on them. When i woke up, i found that India had tied the match and then saw the highlights and i was so happily surprised by Robin singh and Karim's fight.
Superb batting by Robin Singh...... 👍🏻👍🏻
Housefull crowd fr match played between ind n zim in south af. Dats 90's fr u...the boom of internet n mobiles destroyed d fun of live cricket 😔
true .....
Bring back 80,90’s
Ajinkya Mane 😓😓
Actually mobile destroyed everything not only cricket ....
Rightly said.................
1997,next month was in Bloemfontein when Sachin smashed Zimbabwe bowling
shut the fuck up no one cares
You are absolutely right my childhood was awesome, shot like today's player played.
Robin Singh was best hitter of the cricket ball in those days. What a marvelous effort by the champion
The days when every game was special and nail biting, the days of dada
"Could be caught... it's a six..off a no-ball"
What a match this was...!
I still remember. Robin singh is the player who changed the Indian cricket once for all.
Of all the bowlers in current and past generation, this bowler from Zimbabwe Edo Brandes had the most smoothest bowling action just like South African to Alan Donald.
Great memories from 90s and loving Cricket.
Ganguly 38 off 79 balls..
Test match inning in one day
I am an Indian & I would never forget Douglas Merillier. He would still give me goosebumps if, I see him again...😂😂😂
Are you a male or female?
Robin Singh is an unsung hero. He was a good finisher & used to hold his wicket by scoring aswell
Yes i remembered, specially the last ball draw.
Ajay jadeja and Robin Singh were the players who made us glued to TV at that time
Ya I watched it after my school time, those matches were ossum, Sachin knock to qualify for finals was great
