The biggest mistake Vince McMahon ever made was not respecting legendary wrestlers enough to give them a legendary ending. His constant need to force guys to end their careers with a loss is abysmal. The WCW legends got treated the worst and fans hated it. Between Sting, Goldbergs music and persona change for no Fing reason, DDP being a pushover etc the list goes on.
Sting always had reservations about coming to WWF/E. The way they tried to bury Booker T in the beginning (the “Who are you?” promo with the Rock, his loss to Triple H) was what really had him sketchy. He should’ve followed his intuitions & not signed at all....
I remember Sting's WWE debut.... So underwhelming seeing him coming down the entry way like a normal wrestler. They should have had him come through the crowd, or do a classic lights off/on appearance. And then he jobs to HHH at Wrestlemania..... Ugh, I really hate that company sometimes.
They aren’t going to debut a guy using entrances that are already used by their own major guys (lights on: Taker, through the crowd: shield amongst others)
You don’t know what you’re talking about triple h won because he was suppose to face the rock at next years wrestlemania hence why they had a segment together at the same show.
I can do nothing but cringe when these neck bearded smarks try to bash Triple H and his career because he doesn’t do a million flips, super-kicks and dives in every match. Point is he was an exceptional talent who had the look, the size and the presence and became a legit main event talent (akin to a modern day Harley Race). To say he wasn’t good for 24/25 years is totally asinine, look at his resume for good matches, memorable feuds and the stars he made. Sting got injured he was gonna have a great run but got injured.
@@mattjones2635 but you don't make any sense. Anti smarks also hate him. And smarks actually love him. He is responsible for NXT. Nobody in the above comments talked about the 'flips or kicks' like you fantasize or enjoy.
Sting always said That was the main reason why he never want to wwe in the early years an even lex luger, advised him not to go because when lex was in wwe they treated him bad an wwe was just all hype an a bad place to work
It should have been “Sting vs. The Undertaker” at Wrestle Mania and they should have called it: “The End of The Eras” Title Match with it coming to a close in a Double-D.Q. out of mutual respect for what each wrestler contributed to the business for so many years and a honorable tribute to the former franchises they represented. I’ve been a wrestling fan for over 30+ years and all I have to say are some the saddest words that anyone can ever hear: “What could have been...” 💔
I remember somewhere sting saying that he refrained because of the incident where the Rock asked Booker T “Who are you?” when he came over from WCW back in 2001.
It probably didn't take much to sell the type of wrestling Terry Funk did. A chair to the head doesn't need much selling. That's gonna hurt regardless lol.
I love hearing JR’s opinion on wrestling. He’s a legend. Love that you’re with AEW Jim! I look forward to hearing you every Wednesday, in this week’s case, Saturday night! Thanks.
Sting losing at Wrestlemania shows you how much of a mastermind McMahon isn't. The amount of money they could have made with Sting winning at Mania and then fighting Taker at the next mania....The amount of money they could have made on Sting is such a missed opportunity.
Big Show did debut in memphis! I was there, St Valentines Day Massacre, FEB 14 1999! Big Show came out from under the ring during the steel cage match between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Mr. McMahon! Such an amazing night for a 10 year old kid at his first wrestling show!
The severely overpushed HHH struck again. I do like HHH, great mic skills, worked well alongside Rock and Austin, but always found him slow and predictable to watch in the ring and would have been boring without those guys. You can include HBK, Booker T and Sting there too as main eventers that were more entertaining than HHH. Just my opinion. I found all those others more entertaining to watch when it came to the actual matches. I put his extra push of beating so many legends down to eventually being in the Mcmahon family. But I know nothing.
triple H has inserted himself into as many angles and pay per views as possible, as has the entire mcmahon family, because being on a PPV for them carries a cash bonus. its that simple.
Canadian here. Did a run with my blues band on Beale Street a few years ago. The BBQ in Memphis is to die for. JR is absolutely right. Us Canucks weren't used to the SIZE of the portions...
@@lusterthomas2435 He could've. It's all about how the other talent sold for him which wasn't the plan. Seems like Sting was selling for younger talent when he got in the WWE.
I understand some of the arguments for why we didn’t get Sting vs Undertaker at WM 30; they were unsure due to Sting’s age and Undertaker’s health after getting concussed by Lesnar the previous year. But Sting vs Undertaker as the big draw that year would have been head and shoulders above what we got in Sting vs Triple H and a Undertaker vs Bray Wyatt. And it was the one match Sting really wanted to make happen.
@Ray Black I care. Other wrestling fans care. Since those would have been big money matches, Sting and his opponents cared. More money left on the table.

Triple H should have put him over. He could’ve done so much more for the younger talent. Even though Rollins injured him, that match made more sense than that NwO DX angle.
Well I think Sting believed at that point they couldn't tarnish his career because whether he joined wwe, or their non prestigious hall of fame he was going down as one of the greatest in the business regardless, and he'd get some good cash out of it which he did. Still just sucks that it turned out the way it did.
It was as bad as the invasion angle and there’s a lot in common. McMahon couldn’t see past his ego and he’d miss out on some of the best angles wrestling have had to offer because of it. He doesn’t know what the fans want anymore even if it hits him in the face and this has been the case for decades with a slow and steady decline
All it amounts to is that Sting was WCW. Vince wanted to make sure everyone knew that WWE was "superior " but ultimately screwed someone who time after time proved he was very much the top dog.
Even though I hadn't watched WWE since 2008, I was always a HUGE Sting fan so when he got signed to the company, I watched just to see what they would do with him. After that came to an end, and shortly after that terrible WM match with Triple H, I swore I wouldn't care about WWE ever again. ...so I still don't.
Sting should have won at WrestleMania. He never should have faced Seth Rollins. He could have had matches with John Cena, Kane, The Undertaker, The Wyatt Family, etc.
I think he didn't see all the sting spots! It started out well, and I don't even care he jobbed to hhh because he had a WWE title match next. Problem is no matter what happened they should have put the belt on him and he could have retired. But part of me things Seth hurt him on purpose, everyone knows he's not safe!
Finding guys with an athletic history is a good idea some of the big names that fit this are: Austin, Rock, Taker, Chyna, Mark Henry, Goldberg, Angle, Brock, Roman Reigns, etc.
And yet Goldberg keep being brought in and was booked to run through everyone pretty much every time. So weird that Sting, who could sctually wrestle and not get gassed after 4 mins, wasn't allowed to be dominant.
I never understood why the NWO(black n white) would come out to save Sting. They hatedeach other, Sting was driven to destroy them. It didn’t make sense, considering WCW’s history. It’s like seeing a war movie where the Viet Cong rescue the US marines from the N. Vietnamese Army. But Vince logic: fuck WCW storylines and history. Shut up and watch shit I throw on the wall
I bet Vince had no intentions of ever using Sting, just his fame. Let's be honest, what was he going to do in WWE? He's no Goldberg who isn't broken down.
The only reason I signed up for WWE Network was to watch Sting win on that Wrestlemania. If there was one thing I *KNEW,* it was that there was no way Vince & Hunter would put in alllllll that effort & money to FINALLY recruit Sting, just to have him lose. When it happened, I honestly couldn't believe it. They tried to make it appear as though they were lessening the blow by having HHH use weapons/outside help, but then they ruined that by having Sting do it as well, leading to him basically losing "clean" in a roundabout way. And the injury was just salt in the wounds... No chance to redeem his run (even though I suspect he wanted to work with Rollins to help put him over & build him up even more), & just a Wrestlemania loss to his name. Definitely stopped caring about WWE after that point.
S Royal Sidhu He came into wcw with wwf baggage. Being cheated in his last wwf appearance up to his brothers death. Bret mentally was not all there. Plus Goldstein ending his career
I dont think bret was so much sabotaged. wcw was always happy to push big wwf names. I think it was more a mix of hart coming in with a broken hand, and wcw just not knowing what to do with him. he shouldve been a lone wolf, but wcw made him buddies with nwo for some reason

WWE isn't even 2000 WCW at this point, its being run by a senile idiot who's 10 years past his sell by date.

@@jayNicks10 2016-2017 didn’t work too much had the belt sold out the shows treated like a star ⭐️
Out of all the people I've seen Triple H put over, his ego wouldn't allow him to put Sting over. Absolutely crazy. He deserved better.
Sting always had reservations about coming to WWF/E. The way they tried to bury Booker T in the beginning (the “Who are you?” promo with the Rock, his loss to Triple H) was what really had him sketchy. He should’ve followed his intuitions & not signed at all....
I think he did it for the fans. He knew that was the last big thing they wanted to see from him and he didn't have much time left.
“Wrestling fans sometimes want to see wrestling, believe it or not” JR is legendary
That's why he didn't trust the WWE in the beginning and could you blame him
Sting don't need wwe. Sting is bigger than wwe.
Right 💯🎯‼️
Yeah right lol
Sting is bigger than Wrestling itself!
You're half right. Sting didn't need the WWE to be a big star. But no wrestler is bigger than the company itself.
@@rickroll9361 The Rock became bigger than WWE.....
And why didn’t he get a introduction from the ring announcer?
Vince and HHH have been waiting to bury Sting for years.
Not to mention that WWE has been telling their viewers for over 20 years that WCW and their talent were inferior.

That was McMahon who felt he needed to bury Sting as a WCW talent.
HHH ego ran amok if only JR was on wwe creative when sting joined
I’ve been a wrestling fan for over 30+ years and all I have to say are some the saddest words that anyone can ever hear:
“What could have been...” 💔
I remember somewhere sting saying that he refrained because of the incident where the Rock asked Booker T “Who are you?” when he came over from WCW back in 2001.

Just like when he tried to top shawn micheals wrestlemania matches haha
It didn't hurt that Triple H is Vince's Son In law
Unfortunately McMahon let his ego get in the way.
HHH as well. A true carrier killer.
Sad
If Jim wants to see a piledriver through a table he needs to watch Randy Savage piledrive Ricky Morton at the Mid South Coliseum.

JR can amplify any subject and make it seem like life or death. I bow to his greatness.
What Vince did not understand was we are over the Monday Night War. We, the fans, are over it. Vince may not be but we are.

@@iLLBiLLsRoastBeats Sting could have been in big name matches with the Undertaker, Cena, Reigns, etc. Also with the merchandise as well.
@Ray Black I care. Other wrestling fans care. Since those would have been big money matches, Sting and his opponents cared. More money left on the table.
@@craigjonesISno.1 I agree man. As a wrestling fan, it's not my job to think about how much money they could've made, but I am very disappointed in how they treated a nice man and a legend of the industry in such a way.

Triple H should have put him over. He could’ve done so much more for the younger talent. Even though Rollins injured him, that match made more sense than that NwO DX angle.
Triple H not putting sting over is like him not putting booker T over at mania, just doesn’t make sense. I don’t think anyone expected both outcomes.
TBR Highlight It does make sense triple h was the top heel in the company vs booker t educate yourself
Didn't Sting already address this a few years ago.
That sting run was as torturous as watching that delicious steak grilling and not being able to eat it
TNA used Sting WAY better than WWE did, and TNA HAD WORSE ISSUES THAN WWE AT THAT TIME! That tells you ALOT
Vince hated anything or anybody from WCW. Having HHH beat Sting did nothing for Hunter but helped to bury Sting.
Well I think Sting believed at that point they couldn't tarnish his career because whether he joined wwe, or their non prestigious hall of fame he was going down as one of the greatest in the business regardless, and he'd get some good cash out of it which he did.
Still just sucks that it turned out the way it did.
I hope AEW give sting the ending he deserves.
Vince buried Sting because Sting built his career & became a Legend without Vince.
The exact reason he never came over right away when wcw went down was exactly what happened
All it amounts to is that Sting was WCW. Vince wanted to make sure everyone knew that WWE was "superior " but ultimately screwed someone who time after time proved he was very much the top dog.
If triple h ego didnt get in the way Sting vs Undertaker should of been the Wrestlemania match. Main Event
Stings in aew; now it's show time!
Sting should have won at WrestleMania. He never should have faced Seth Rollins. He could have had matches with John Cena, Kane, The Undertaker, The Wyatt Family, etc.
Your voice brings back so many memories...
There was no way vince and hhh where going to do a story in which sting the heart of wcw bt the boss of wwe at mania. Wwe screwed sting
Should've never signed. Sting screwed Sting.
I think he didn't see all the sting spots! It started out well, and I don't even care he jobbed to hhh because he had a WWE title match next. Problem is no matter what happened they should have put the belt on him and he could have retired. But part of me things Seth hurt him on purpose, everyone knows he's not safe!
WWE should have done Sting vs Undertaker when they had that narrow chance.
Finding guys with an athletic history is a good idea some of the big names that fit this are: Austin, Rock, Taker, Chyna, Mark Henry, Goldberg, Angle, Brock, Roman Reigns, etc.
He knew what was going to happen, but he did it anyway.
VINCE MCMAHON RUINED STING!
Paul And Vince creatively are responsible for how the talent gets handled, especially the Sting Situation
And yet Goldberg keep being brought in and was booked to run through everyone pretty much every time.
So weird that Sting, who could sctually wrestle and not get gassed after 4 mins, wasn't allowed to be dominant.
Sting should have won, the fact they turned it into DX vs nWo was stupid as the storyline hadn’t been about that. Typical McMahon bulls***

Sting should have signed with wwf around 92/93 after Flair and Hogan were gone. He could have filled that gap better than anyone.
This is why Sting didn't come over when wcw closed cause he knew what wwe was gonna do to him, it's a shame too cause he could have had a great run.
HHH = insane egomaniac

They brought him in as a throw away. Shoulda let him win at wrestlemania.
As was Brett harts sabotaged in Wcw
S Royal Sidhu He came into wcw with wwf baggage. Being cheated in his last wwf appearance up to his brothers death. Bret mentally was not all there. Plus Goldstein ending his career

Hhh had to bury him to help trips keep his self percieved position as one of the best ever. He is not even in the top 10000
