Wrestling Bios Presents - “The Story of Sting in WWE”
When the man called Sting walked into a WWE arena in 2014, it felt like the final piece of the WCW puzzle had finally arrived in Vince McMahon’s World Wrestling Entertainment. The most popular and loyal superstar of WCW during the 90s had always said he wouldn’t jump to the WWF / WWE due not knowing how Vince McMahon would use the Sting character, but Steve Borden had a change of heart in 2014. Sting said he always wanted to work at WrestleMania, and Sting would get a chance to perform on the biggest wrestling stage in the United States in 2015.
While the world was clamouring for the dream match of Sting vs The Undertaker, the decision was made to put Triple H in the ring with the former WCW icon. In a decision that many still question to this day, Sting lost his first WWE match against “The King of Kings” at the WWE’s biggest show of the year. Many see this a Vince McMahon still not letting go of his WCW rivalry, and others see this as the WWE trying to prove a point. Still, Sting remained in the company, working 2 more matches on Raw before arriving at Night of Champions 2015. In the main event, Sting would challenge the WWE Champion Seth Rollins. This would also be Sting’s final WWE match (to date).
This video looks at the entire story of WCW’s franchise player finally arriving in the WWE. Topics covered in this video include:

Remember when Sting said in an interview he didn’t sign with the WWE because he was worried about how he’d be booked.... remember that?
He was on to something wasn't he 🤔
Yeah he was pissed about the way wwe used Booker T
@@marycornett3165 yup, the moment The Rock asked who Booker T was killed it for Sting.
@@marycornett3165 probably DDP too. from peoples champion to creepy stalker getting pinned by a wrestler's wife
He shoulda known HHH was the golden shovel though.
I wish Sting would've never went to WWE, they did my boy dirty.
i agree. they suck
Yes they did.
He isn't your boy...is our "Man".
@@happyd6145 They did our man dirty.
i agree i havent watched wwe since they did that 2 sting
The only remaining WCW World Champion who was never hired by Vince is David Arquette.
no he faced randy orton on Raw
You’re wrong! Jimmy king still hasn’t been hired! He will rule you! 🤴🏻🤴🏻
@@frank7785 lol Jimmy king was actually a dig at Jerry the king lawyer
@@marcusmullings9261 And Ric Flair.

he could of retired and never walked into a wwe ring and still been inducted into the wwe hall of fame guaranteed

Just like Abdullah The Butcher
@@konnorrockkonnoisseur4970 that dude was smart he didnt ever need to walk into vince mcmahons ring to make money and he knew it.He faced house hold names without even being in a wwe ring.
So glad Sting is in AEW now. He went full circle and they are using him right
Makes Darby Allen a real star under Sting's mentorship.
@@michaelaburns734And now Sting is getting ready to retire next year. At least it will be on his terms
Having Sting losing to hhh was the final slap in the face of wcw, Sting going to WWE was worse than his joining NWO
Nah him in the NWO was amazing
@@leonturner2598 yes he was a part of nwo wolfpac nwo wolfpac were babyfaces
Had sting stayed he might have gotten the wwe world championship run.
@@leonturner2598 let’s be honest, outside of sting looking cool in red, nothing special came out of him being in the Wolfpack. Not long after assembling this group, Nash would lay down for hogan & join forces again. Sting being down with the nwo made no sense whatsoever.
Sting was signed by WWE so that Triple H could bury him in the final WWE vs WCW showdown
Could anyone deny that?
Nope. It does show how tone deaf wwe leadership can be though.
@@tygoneeb9904 Agreed...they have no real “finger on the pulse” when it comes to how fans feel...
Sting totally should have Won that match and lost a rematch at the following PPV
He literally came out of his semi retirement to restart his reign of terror without the title
Sting vs Kurt at WM would have been amazing. In the end, we got that dream match in TNA Impact. How ironic.
That would have been a good match in WWE.
The second Buckle Bomb was the Final Nail in the Coffin. I don't know why did they do the second time.
Vince is the most petty person on earth. Why bring Sting only to lose to HHH to prove that you beat your competition almost 20 years ago?!
I remember when they bought WCW, straight away I thought of sting coming and who he would be wrestling with. To say I was devastated he didn't sign up would be an understatement. He was and still is Mr. WCW,
Robocop should have accompanied Sting to his Wrestlemania match since Hunter was using Terminator.
Sting vs Undertaker was the dream match that never was
I'm holding out hope for a Boneyard match at Wrestlemania next year.
@@jessegifford7913 that would be good but they would have 2 work safe
Triple H's ego got the best of him and he had to book himself to fued with Sting and interject himself at WM instead of The Undertaker. That'd be like Undertaker coming to WCW and they book him to fued with and lose to Buff Bagwell or Scott Steiner at Starrcade.
Flair hogan at mania 8 for me.
I'm disgusted that wwe didn't let Sting win any wwe title at all. All the numerous championships wwe has and they didn't give him even one championship? That was terrible.
Yea sting should've won at mania, it's a shame how his career ended but I'm just glad that we saw him in WWE and in the Hall of Fame
He should have beat triple h then beat Rollins. Became a double champ then had a short title run an lose both belts at big event down the road. So sad
@@CloudTasteNetwork nah not rollins.
Sting vs taker wrestlemania 2021. Sting goes over because Vince won't tell taker no. Lol
He said in the WWE untold special on the network he was planning on retiring after his match with HHH. Thats why he put him over.
As a WCW fan in the 90s i hated seeing Sting in WWE
Man was it a letdown
That wrestlemania match should have gone to sting
Hunter loses a lotta wrestlemanias but couldn't give the win to sting
HHH should have done the job, then next year's WrestleMania have Sting vs Taker. In that match Taker goes over and Sting retires.
alanguages definitely Sting should have won but HHH and Vince ego had to say we beat NWA/WCW top guy finally
@@alanguages the money they could have made too, complete idiots
That was Vince and his cronies grand booking prowess that did that guaranteed. Then Rollins' dumbass with that stupid bucklebomb move that ended Stings career.
@@Kas58223 I know I’m late but trips said that the reason he went over is because they were setting up rock vs triple h for mania 32 but that didn’t happen and if he knew that he said he would’ve lost the match
They shat the bed with Sting. The promo leading to WM, the actual match and factions and then having him lose. They're lucky he's such a good sport about it all.
Sucks he did a job for H. If he lost to taker i would have been ok with that.
Taker has said that he would’ve put Sting over in some interview from the mid 2000’s. He did respect him, from one legend to another.
And maybe in a huge fan of both these guys honestly if they even had the match between Undertaker and sting I really want sting to win more I mean you're just going to bring him back to make him lose again it just doesn't make any sense
@@juggalogamer8541 Yeah. Especially at this point. SMH😔
Sting didn’t get jobbed. He was still hot and had a lot of mileage, triple H had lost a lot around that time and it was a harmless win that kept his stock high
@@rockstar450 sting never recovered from that lost and never got his win back from triple h. Triple h gained nothing from that win so really it did more harm than good
At least Sting came in at the end of his career instead of after WCW first closed. It would of been way worse. He would of been jobbing to Santino Marella on Main Event.
Why who did that
LMAO! Its funny because it's true.
I bet he would have replaced DDP as the Stalker *rolls eyes*
krim7 I remember checking to see if it was him. I went visiting just to confirm on tv.
@@krim7 That angle could've worked with Sting stalking whomever the champion would be.
Seth with TWO buckle-bombs?!?
No part of him realized he shouldn’t hit a second one?!?
Wtf
It was planned. Vince and HHH wanted Sting injured.
@@funkyweapon1981 So how then do you imagine that played out? Was the 1st buckle bomb supposed to injure Sting's spine? How could they ensure that even 2 bombs would get that done? Or, once Sting was already hurt, do you imagine that Vince called it in to the ref, who then told Sting & Rollins to go for the move again?
I too am curious as to what happened, step by step, as Sting was injured. But, life experience has taught me that's more likely to be manifestation of the wish to be able to turn back time, much like the impulse that Rollins mentioned. As is so often the case, I suspect the truth is more mundane & less insidious than suggested by this conspiracy theorizing.
Seth Rollins is most likely an idiot.
Rollins also previously broke the bridge of Cena's nose with a miss placed knee before that as well, if I was Sting I would not let him give me one buckle bomb let alone two
@@kyle1m he agreed to the move and took it wrong both times he’s said this multiple times
5 years have gone by, and this match at 31 still burns me up. Completely inexcusable booking. And, of course Rollins had a match with Sting. Good buddy of Hunter's.
Were that a REAL match, Sting woulda handed his ASS to him on a platter
@@Willy2000ization If it were a REAL match Seth would hold his own. Stop putting Seth down dammit
@@zemox2534 Rollins SUCKS. Nuff said
@@Willy2000ization neh, but it's ok to be hurt. Did rollings hurt you
Mark remark marks will get that
@@kamenanew9867 Nice psychology. Where did you learn it, from your mother? First of all Rollins is an unsafe worker and almost ended Sting's career. If you have watched the match you should already know that. I cant respect an unsafe loser like him. And secondly, WWE has pretty much hand fed him everything on a silver platter like they did with Theory instead making him earn it. So he aint no champ, he's a bum. Also I aint marking out and clearly you wouldnt know a mark if it dropkicked you in the ass
I would love to see an R-Truth bio one day. He's one of the most entertaining wrestlers I've ever watched.
McMahon got Warrior he wanted Sting since day 1
Exactly
He wanted sting.
He settled on Warrior
The fact that we never got Sting vs. Taker when they literally had the chance to do so still pisses me off today.
The ICON STING HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY ALL TIME FAVORITE WRESTLER
He's my Favorite Pro Wrestler of All-time as well.
I liked Sting but overall he wasn't thay great in the ring or mic
@@dallasparty316 bro whatch that joker sting TNA area .💯🔥👍
I never knew he took the turnbuckle powerbomb twice in that match. That was shocking that they'd do it again after the way the first one went.
Same I thought it happened once
such a stupid move to begin with...
That move injured Finn Balor
stings a smart man look at DDP i swear its like they didnt even know the character
It's depressing realizing what wwe has come to nowadays, especially when you look back and see how they booked former wcw stars. I realize a lot of fans these days roll their eyes at this but wwe was so much better during the attitude and ruthless aggression era. Now their nothing more than a corporate entity with boring storylines and a lot of talent that doesn't get utilized all that much. I'm grateful for these types of videos and UA-camr's though. At least we can relive some of the fun times WWF had to offer at the time. I won't even watch the shows or network now though, it's clear vince truly doesn't care what the fans want since they'll always have viewers. Sigh, rant over.
As much that I grew up with the WWF/E started with the Attitude Era and the Ruthless Aggression Era. And those two eras are the all time greats. But I started watching wrestling with WCW (WWE's old longtime arch rival competitor) in 1993 up to 1999 with guys with Sting, Diamond Dallas Page, Booker T, Goldberg, Hulk Hogan, Macho Man Randy Savage, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and others before I saw The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, The Undertaker, Mick Foley, Kurt Angle, and other talents of the WWF/E. Both WCW (1993-1999), and WWF/E (1999-2013) that I grew up from my childhood years up to my early adulthood years last decade (2010s). But Mr. McMahon doesn't like WCW stars working with the WWF/E stars, but some WCW stars put into success in the WWE like Booker T and Goldberg for example. But man, I feel that the WWE just wasted a potential deal for the Sting vs Undertaker match, and the injury that costed Sting's WWE path. All in all, Sting is always WCW. Always.
@@SSJ491 They could've easily been even more legendary in the WWE but I guess Vince's ego couldn't handle that.
I say the 80's Era(That's what I call it) was better than all of them.
Sean Ashmead 80’s era isn’t better then attitude era or ruthless aggression
@@InspireCreate43 Exactly!
Stinger! So happy i got to meet him 5 yrs ago ! hope hes happy and deserves the world of recognition! The icon! I got to see him late wcw but mostly remember him in early TNA
Clicked this vid soon as it popped up this is fav part of the week 😎🤘🙏
My all time favourite wrestler.
Sting losing to Triple HHH is the 2nd worst thing ever in wrestling to me.
The first being Undertaker losing to Lesnar.
If they booked it right, Sting could have ended the streak, but nooooo
Sting's WWE run was basically Vince spitting right in his face. So pathetic. I LOVE your channel btw dude! I've watched at least 10 of your videos this week!
It was everything Sting feared would happen going all the way back to WCW Closing
Mate your work ethic is crazy, banging out these videos. Absolutely loving having all this explained to me, fills in the gaps from when I was younger. I’ll be saving this one to watch with my lunch or tea tomorrow aha! Thanks bro!!!
I definitely want to see the TNA STING video. The whole STING career is almost completely covered.
in the end, Vince got the last laugh. Not that Sting jobbed to HHH, but how they let Sting go out there during wrestlemainia with the giant bald spot, and camera work to highlight it. WWE could have covered that easily
Listen Man, This Episode was Perfectly Done! This might be my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE ONE that you've done! I grew up watching Sting and your video brought back so many memories! Keep these videos coming Dude! I am truly addicted!
Sting is one of my all time favorite wrestlers and this was a great documentary.
14:20 look at Conrad in the stands ....
I think sting and taker should have BOTH their absolute final matches facing each other at a wrestlemania. It's the only way to do it!!
@Wrestling Bios pumps out so much content with tons of homework and tons of editing. Mans a machine.
That loss to H that they booked for sting after waiting YEARS to see Sting at a WM... on his in-ring debut... was the day I stopped watching WWE for good. SO glad Sting is with AEW now.
The thing that made Sting the best worker that Vince didn’t create was he was able to finish the match w/ Seth Rollins in such an injury. What’s even more dedication from him is that he’s willing to return when he fully recovers. Would this be the final chance to see Sting vs Taker? I hope so.
Cover his tna run next
Yes please do so
I'd love to see that, too, but sadly, I don't see it happening, as he doesn't seem to do any TNA videos. Who knows why?
Sting gave his best years to WCW.....that's what matters
I'm a wcw fan for life and sting will for ever be my favorite wrestler
Just got off of work. This'll be good for the train ride home.
To be honest, if sting and taker just faced off to a live crowd in the near future I'd be happy. I know they're both retired but that one moment, that last hurrah would be awesome.
Hell, I'd love to see them both back in the ring for a farewell match. It doesn't have to be good but it would be a brilliant send off for both of them.
Just too see who the better man really is (I'd go for sting personally).
Anything from both of them would make me one happy man.
This guys is the best in the business as far as reliving the wrestling glory days. The theme songs at the beginning are amazing and the story telling is spot on. Great job buddy. Keep it up
Been subscribed for a while and gotta say you’re one of the best wrestling channels on UA-cam
HHH beating Sting was Vince's way to finally put a nail in the coffin of the Monday night wars.
Not really the old man still has nightmares of WCW and he sees AEW has a reemergence of that lol
@@marcusmullings9261 very true

We all know the dream match is a pre-recorded Taker vs Sting, Boneyard v2
Id love a cinematic match between them. I think the cinematic fights have been really underrated. Good production value and storytelling and its great for the guys who can't bump like they used to.
I hate those matches!!!,it makes wrestling look even faker.its just the worst.

@@julesmcgrules3860 ok an injury basically messed up every plan that year, if all had been fine sting wins that match and goes on to wrestlemania to face the undertaker for the wwe title. that would be my plan as a writer it would be perfect, WCW legend vs WWE legend, two wrestlers that never left their respective companies, yet seth uses a move that happens to hurt someone, sting and rollins agreed to the moves before hand, and he said he was fine so they continued with the planned moves, should rollins have changed it yes maybe but thats not how the cards fell, sting got hurt and future plans were messed up and changed

I've only recently discovered your channel but I'm completely hooked. Keep up the great work 👍
Hearing about Sting uttering Taker's name, on WWE Untold just blows my mind. If Sting vs The Undertaker, ever happens. Let that be The Undertaker's official last match, have the match with a live crowd as soon as COVID-19 completely fades away, and put Sting over in this bout. I love The Undertaker but, Sting needs another win in his career in WWE.
That should be WM37's main event... they would break the attendance record if that happens (assuming COVID is gone by then)
@@TimmyTickle old man Vince would still have his balls up his ass so thats obviously not going to happen unless he dies and Triple H takes over

Luv this Channel! That's So Much❤💛Luv me some Sting🖤🦂❤
Superb work as usual! 👍🏻
Don’t have any money to donate but I really appreciate your content bro keep up the good work
He shouldn’t of signed, he literally got buried
as a diehard impact wrestling fan, Sting more for the company than whatever money vince threw at sting to join wwe.
he was the father of the locker room, he fought alongside some of the guys who would leave for wwe, and TNA/impact became his second home after WCW closed. Impact might of had their issues, but you never once ever question if sting was being buried or punish in impact
Excellent video brah! 👍🏼
Taker and Sting wrestled way back in the early days of WCW.
One of the best 🦂💯♥️ great work here, greetings from Berlin.
He mentions about how Vince feels about creations that aren't his own. Bischoff was the same! Jericho said himself, if you weren't a Bischoff creation he didn't really care about you. And I'm surprised to hear Taker doubting himself but if he didn't feel up to facing Sting, it is probably best he didn't. I even heard a rumor Sting was meant to come earlier but something happened. 1 month after Wrestlemania of that year...he had that infamous Jeff Hardy Match. He certainly didn't dodge 'that' bullet
Nothing but great content every time
One of the best episodes I've watched so far
Great video!!
I feel like the reason the Sting/Taker match didn't happen is because, WWE didn't know his match with Rollins would have been his last match. I feel like if the injury didn't happen, we would have had Sting vs Undertaker at WrestleMania 32.
Its obvious they were gearing him as atop tier talent....then he got injured
I agree about the second bucklebomb. Whoever called that move, wasn't thinking, AT ALL.
I know Sting says it wasn't Seth's fault, and I believe he only says this so Seth isn't constantly booed out of the building.
But Seth can be sketchy. Personally, I wouldn't want to work with the guy. Everyone has their opinion.
Big Fan of your Channel! Hoping to see some Bios on WCW Bookers such as Kevin Sullvian, Dusty, Kevin Nash, some other bios on events like Wargames, Hell in the Cell, Battle Bowls
I do like your videos and will always support
To me it would have been better to bring him in at the royal rumble. Be like number 20 or 30 and let his music hit and him come out of the rafters and just clean house and set him up to run the title at wrestlemania . Then drop it to to taker later on.
Sting will always be the greatest of all time.
Thanks for doing this video.
Thank you for this one. I would love to see a "rise and fall of tna" video.
World Wrestling Entertainment knows How to Destroy Icons and Legends.
I'm still pissed, as a lifelong fan of Sting, that WWE buried him so badly. HHH didn't need to be put over, and Sting deserved to wrestle Undertaker -- that would have been the draw of a lifetime right there. It was just purposeless, the whole damn thing.
Don't forget HHH probably told Seth to injure Sting.
Da entrances get me hype for the bios lol 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
"just walk away, just walk away"- The Lord Humungus, Mad Max:Road Warrior. Sting vs Taker would have been awesome during The Ministry '99 phase. In some of these pics "Crow" Sting looks scarier than the original Michael Myers. HHH's pattern of making himself look foolish in a feud build up always means he's going over on his opponent where it matters most- Steiner, Booker T, Lesnar, Sting. At least he lived his dream of performing at WM. Looking forward to seeing his tna & wwe work at some point. Steve will always know he has one of the biggest legacies in wrestling history
Love your channel 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
I love your work man.
You said WWF Champion Seth Rollins at 17:40 lol.
Would have expected Sting in TNA before this one... but great work and amazing research as always!!!
I just hope that Sting got a big payday after that Wrestlemania.
Man I didn't except this one for Sting. He is my absolute favourite. I still find it hard to look over some of his WWE stuff.. Which if I think about of what it could have been upsets me even more. I'm not going to lie it still upsets me to this day.
But love your content. Would like to see Stings TNA a career at some point. Also love the reliving the wars series, it's the best. Definitely one of the things I look forward too. 👊🏽
