I love this guy. He is very honorable toward the swords. It wouldn't surprise me if he studies Iaido or some other classical martial art. The way he handles them, it's apparent that he honors them.
Ova h nope. Fakes from back in time can be worth quite a bit as well. Some forged coins that were forged hundreds of years ago can be worth more than the originals
@@Unknownz000 completely incorrect they are still hundreds of years old and still very valuable and were made out of the same metal as the real blade. You obviously do not know the value of these.
I doubt very much it was made long ago. If it was made in the Edo period they'd have known where the signature ought to go and not used a name that wasn't a recorded old smith. The actual blade's grain was also as rough as an old goats knee, all over too, so nothing like a real Nihonto at all.

Yamasaki is presenting the sword back to its owner. Rick should grab it from the sageo (cord) for sure, but what does a guy like Rick know about obscure Japanese customs?
Scott W Pilgrim well technically not the Sageo but the tsuka even if it’s in the saya, it’s a sign of trust from Yamasaki but you are right I don’t spect Rick would know that
Literally who cares. It's a sword, and it's his until he sells it. Is he supposed to take a full course on obscure Japanese customs just because he bought a sword?

Literally who cares. It's a sword, and it's his until he sells it. Is he supposed to take a full course on obscure Japanese customs just because he bought a sword?
Schnoz no but he should atleast be knowledgeable and respectful about the items in his stuff and their customs. How you going to try and sell something you don’t know anything about?
I’ve seen most of these episodes and I understand they are just in this business of buy/sell katana. but i think Rick and the staffs should at least learn the proper gesture as a respect when recieving the sword. At least, It should not be grabbed by one hand and yank while seated.
Rick prides himself on knowing the history of items . He needs to do some reading on handling a Katana . Centuries of culture and respect . Falls on deaf ears in the Pawn shop . Like giving a monkey a violin .
Anyone else thinks that Mike Yamasaki should just have an instagram or something and just post about swords and their stories?? If there is and I can’t find it, can somebody send me a link?
The Tokugawa sword you don't even SEEE the episode anymore 😂😂😂 I was honestly gonna go and buy if for nearly 15-20grand. Cuz honestly. A Tokugawa crested REAL-high ranking generals sword of the Shogunate, is actually worth an insane amount more than what they originally thought 😂😂😂😂😂😂
His voice makes it legendary
His voice needs to be on South Park
so did judge ito who handled the oj simpson case
Ikr. Honestly he's my man among experts.
This man needs his own show!
Exactly
Yep. Love him. I'd watch it.
Normal "Experts"- "Rick can I grab your customers items?"
Him- "Can I inspect the sword with your permission?"
The way of a samurai
I always love how polite he asks can I hold your sword 🗡️ such a good dude
This guy and Rebecca are the only experts I would trust on the show
tdkcastro they are the only ones entering the shop who don’t look like freaking jojo characters
Didn't Rebecca get fired?
What about the museum director
@@cptpayday2080 LMAO

The way he asks for permission and bow down to the sword is just class, his way of explaining is just icing on the cake.
He’s brilliant and I love the gracefulness on how he asks to examine the sword.

I love how he treats every sword and owner with respect
By far this is the best expert Rick calls in
I love how he asks the owners permission, beautiful manners and respect
this guy is actually a ninja, just notice how he can read without his glasses,it's just a part of his disguise.
Um, maybe he's nearsighted and he only needs glasses to see things at a distance?

He never forgets to show us the traditional way of removing the blade from the handle and the hilt.

I love when Mike comes out. He's so knowledgable and seems like a really cool guy
Mike is a G, he knows a lot and gets to the point of the origins of the swords. He should have a show on History channel.
