Planning this similar build for the past year… off to a great start. Still on the fence over cutting into panels for 34” tires… I mean, where do i think I’m going?!?
Keep in mind the larger and heavier the tire and wheel looks good but the less mpg and more HP requirement. Also more road noise! There's a balance in looks and performance but I do agree larger tires to better fill the wheel wells look good.
This is what I’ve been waiting for… you guys have been teasing this on the podcast for a while now. Sooo glad to see it come together and it looks really good, wondering how it will do on some slick rocks!! Keep up the incredible work🤙
Hi, from Japan!! “Todd X Every cars” is the method what gives reliability and longevity to cars. I want to maintain my car like you. It depends on you whether car’s lifespan is longer or shorter.
I think on average a Rubicon driver is 235 times more likely to go off road than a typical Cayenne owner though. Just speaking in terms of made up stats.
I like the higher look! Maybe paint the wheels black or some other color for a fun more aggressive look and that wouldnt be very much money and your son might like driving it better. 😊 Please make a video driving it through some deeper snow this winter now that you have more ground clearance. Hmm maybe adding a snow plow attachment to plow your driveway will be the next mod? I Love the "my other car is a Cayenne" sticker. Thanks for the details on the build and cost. I'm considering doing the same to my 2010 volvo xc60. Cheers!
Cool so is kinda like a sleeper off roader! People will see you in Moab and think that jerks gonna get stuck and trash his cayenne but it’s actually quite capable now.
congratulations on coming over to the dark side 😂 I have a 2015 Cayenne Diesel which has the Eurowise 2” lift, 32” BFG KO2’s, a spare tire carrier with the 5th BFG tire, full underbody skids from Eurowise as well as their rock rails. I’ve also added the winch plate as it ties to the frame and its used as recovery points (no winch or lights installed). I tell you this not to brag but as a warning because no mater what is added to the vehicle’s capabilities it still is seen as a less capable AWD and not a true 4x4 with lockers. The National Park Service is now enforcing and issuing fines on AWD vehicles using “their 4x4 only” trails. As a result of that policy the overlanding I was a member of kicked me out since the Cayenne is AWD. While I had no problems overlanding on the same trails as Jeep JK’s and Gladiators, the 4x4 purest don’t see it that way, even in clubs which travel mostly forest service type roads. As with any offroad vehicle knowing your vehicle’s limits and driving experience plays a big part in keeping out of offroad trouble. Unfortunately with new car manufacturers offering “soft offroader” causes the NFS not to deal with stupid motorists getting into trouble offroad and now issuing fines on some of their roads.
Isn't the AWD vs. 4x4 exclusion based more on the impact of breaking an axle than on the vehicle's capability otherwise? In an AWD if you break any of the four drive axles you are stuck, whereas in a 4x4 you still will have 2 or 3 driven wheels to get you out.
@@tjf311exactly, also the cayenne has a center locker (rear as well IIRC) so it's actually MORE capable off-road than a typical 4x4 pickup. I believe the NPS "AWD" exclusion policy doesn't apply to vehicles with a center differential and /or rear locker. Also, I believe if the vehicle has a low range transfer case it is OK.
@@davidwalker72 Interesting, I'll have to look into that more. Thank you! Edit: from the NPS webpage: True 4x4 vehicles have a 'transfer case' in the drivetrain that puts full engine power to the front wheels. All Wheel Drive, common on vehicles like crossover SUVs, relies on a 'differential' to send variable power to each wheel. AWD is good on level roadbeds in low traction conditions like snow. It is not designed to fully power the front tires in off-pavement rugged situations. For example, if the road goes up a steep hill and there is a lot of loose rock in the road, fully powered front wheels are needed to rotate strongly and pull the vehicle up the slope. AWD cannot do that very well and may fail.
If the Cayenne is constantly driving all four wheels and has a low-range, it is considered a "full-time four-wheel drive" system, not all-wheel drive. Other than that, awesome ride.
It was covered a bit in a prior video. The one here is a Sony model, not the Porsche classic one. It works pretty well (wired only) but occasionally gets confused. Just glad to have it.
I love performance SUV's but we need to bring back a modern-day Pontiac Fiero - It could be manufactured under the GMC brand nameplate. The name Fiero (Italian for proud or fierce) is a great name, the badging - eloquent and exciting. Rear mid engine, rear wheel drive, low slung. maybe it's electric, maybe it's hybrid. It needs to be positioned somewhere between a Miata/GR86/BRZ and a Corvette. More power than a Miata, but at a price that is obtainable. The Solstice and Sky were close, but the Fiero's Italian styling was beautiful, especially the last year GT. Sports cars are so outrageously expensive now, most buyers can only afford them in the used market. We need to get out of this sea of of boring silver SUV's! -
We’ve driven it on a few occasions for our Test Drive Videos channel. Lexus IS 500 Review - This goes to 9.5 - Test Drive | Everyday Driver ua-cam.com/video/eDhIlgvB1tY/v-deo.html
It seems you’ve misunderstood the explanation. $13-14k is including the original value of the Cayenne in its current condition. As stated in the video, the Cayenne is worth $7-8k before doing anything. Then the cost of all parts and labor for the lift was about $6k, parts were only half of that. Sorry for any confusion. Thanks for watching!
Todd has always prefaced this by saying that it's not the build you're probably thinking. Heck there's usually air quotes around "build" in his case. This is the easy stuff that gets the car over that initial hump. And if that's good for Todd, then so be it. There's no need to tear the thing apart and do crazy stuff.
I think people need to lean more into the discomfort something like a TJ wrangler offers. I think the discomfort might even add to the experience. I bought my wife one, and drive it to work about once or twice every two weeks. Wranglers, with the small wheel base and versatile solid axles will 9 times out 10 perform better off road than a Cayenne, but I understand this build here. Minor not paved vehicle usage.
Perhaps it's just me, but I never understood when people say that Jeeps are hard to drive or have bad road manners. My '14 JKU 6m is plenty comfortable and easy to drive on road, and I do quite a bit of road trips on the freeway.
@ajtholt I grew up around Jeeps. My parents have had lifted Jeeps most of my life. My dad has rebuilt two 4.0s. We would go on road trips in them. Two kids and as many as three dogs piled into a CJ7 or XJ on the trails or in the interstate. The XJs have all been comfortable. We went from Tucson to Toronto and back to Tucson in one. In a vacuum they are perfectly fine. But compared to just about anything else like them they do have poor road manors.
The VW with Porsche badging is kind of a joke , without the badges most people would think it was a Kia oe something . Paying for a name , no one would look at a 911 and think it was a Nissan Z , so that's not just paying for a name .
While it was a joint effort, Porsche was the one responsible for developing the joint platform for both Cayenne and Touareg. VW used their own engines (although they shared the VR6) and contributed with its knowledge mass production.
The idea of an el cheapo Boxster "Dakar" Rally/Overland intrigues me.
"my other car is also a cayenne " brilliant.
Love that sticker 😅
Came here to say the same, haha nearly spit my coffee out lol
We'll take more on the newer Cayenne too!
RubiCayenne has a nice ring to it haha
Love it. Most people don’t need more than this level of build.
Most people don't even need this. Most people won't leave the road even once.
Love the videos! Keep them coming. Always informative and beautiful backgrounds.
Planning this similar build for the past year… off to a great start. Still on the fence over cutting into panels for 34” tires… I mean, where do i think I’m going?!?
At that point you’d want to look into gearing.
Keep in mind the larger and heavier the tire and wheel looks good but the less mpg and more HP requirement. Also more road noise! There's a balance in looks and performance but I do agree larger tires to better fill the wheel wells look good.
Finally! Now for an off road adventure!
Great start, well done! But secure your tag.. and orange wheels are a great idea.
If you also add some first person POV footage of you driving, it will be the best channel about cars out there
Check out their testdrive channel. They have POVs for some of the cars they review.
The one thing we all wanted to see. Thanks for indulging us, guys!! Can't wait to see what you end up doing with this thing.
YES! the bumper sticker made the video.
Looking forward to some off roading

"...and I have an Emira in the garage," he says, directly to camera. Made me laugh out loud. Can't wait to see future updates and the Moab piece!!!
Finally this video! 👏🏼👏🏼
Hi, from Japan!! “Todd X Every cars” is the method what gives reliability and longevity to cars. I want to maintain my car like you. It depends on you whether car’s lifespan is longer or shorter.
This really makes me want an off road cayenne… even more than I already did!
Very nice! The fact this will see a 100 times more off roading than a fully loaded Rubicon driven by a USC Coed is awesome…Looking forward to it!
I think on average a Rubicon driver is 235 times more likely to go off road than a typical Cayenne owner though. Just speaking in terms of made up stats.
@@gs98999 Zero arguments there. The fact Porsche started building less capable Cayenne’s starting with just the second generation says it all.

This is a great idea, the Series 1 Cayennes are so cheap, they are kind of cool too for this use. Cheap Thrills ;-)
Todd goin wheelin!
Love everything about this!

Indeed they do.
Disappointed in the choice of tires, other tires would make it look a lot better. But overall I like the direction here

Seems like theese tyres didnt add so much noise, as others AT's do
When is the light off-roading everyday driver adventure !!
Bikes on the back and skis on top, in Utah could you do both in a couple of days?
Hi nice cayenne, the eurowise kit is 3 or 2.5 inch ?
can the GTS "downgraded" from air suspensions to the base Cayenne suspensions (coil/ springs ) ?
Does it have Low range?
Intrigued, as I have a gen one Turbo, I have to wonder how far these can really go off road...

The build we’ve been waiting for! 👌🏻🛞⛰️
What are the specs? 3” lift? 265/65/r18? Any spacers on the shocks in the rear?
Awesome. It looks like you have updated the head unit? Is that the Porsche Classic one? Do you like it? I’ve heard mixed reviews.

It looks like a Trans-Siberian one. Do you have a crack in your windshield you get that fixed?
First the goatee now this? Further proof that we now have the Mirror Universe Todd.
How much was the Porche premium service (plugs, oil, tire rotation)? Just curious if that isn't too nosy of a question.
LS SWAP PLEASE
Rubiconyenne !
🤯 Steven Seagal is doing car reviews now! 😂
Who did the work / labor
Man if i was a 16yr old a lifted Cayenne would be a near perfect HS car.

Gee, another inch or two of lift, and you could park the Elise underneath!
if my son scoffed at a used cayenne as a first car he’d be working on a farm in idaho the next morning
Wooow
14,000 ? Mannn that’s expensive
$8000 for the Cayenne and $6000 for the build, half of which was labor according to what he said late in the video
I have a 2015 Ford Fiesta ST with 49.6K miles if your son is interested.
Does this car ever go off road?
We have a full Moab rock-crawling piece we've already shot and will be releasing in the new year. Thanks for watching!
