surprised the major brands are not lining up with demo units for Mike to run. Even pre-production units needing field testing. Needs probably a week's worth of hours to make it worth the hassle. Seeding season rapidly approaching.
I have and do continue to work with some manufacturers actually, some on UA-cam and some not for the obvious reasons. I also believe there is some hesitation as not everyone is as welcoming of critiquing. 🙂
I would like to see that too. They do lack in the cab comforts but in the end its a tool so for the price difference its probably unreasonable to expect more. It would be neat to see someone really testing it against the big brands and see how it stacks up. One just might end up annoyed at how expensive the others are if the perfermance is close
@@mikemitchell2554 like John Deere suddenly and mysteriously backing out of bringing their X9 -1100 combine to you for testing - hmmm - what have they got to hide. One would think that a thorough critique, such as you do, would be welcomed by manufacturers, so that they can improve their product over their competitors, but I guess they don't see it that way. Anyway, a Million Dolllars is an obscene amount of money for a machine that gets used 2 to 3 weeks of the year, and spends the rest of the year sitting in a barn depreciating in value. Not so sure that would stack up financially. Leasing probably a better deal.
With Versatile it's all about the price, way cheaper than any others and they still do the job pretty well. Probably not quite as fancy of a cab though.
Well, we're running a versatile 620 with tracks for almost 5000 hours now. Mainly in front of an 75feet airseeder, an reefinator and some tillage. it pulls like a champ. But it's far from beeing smooth 🤣 it already snaped the exhaust more times them I could count, cracked the fueltank and broke the cabmount in 2 spots. But the cab and the soundsystem is bloody awsome 👌🤣
@@OOpSjm not really. The local dealer upgraded the cab suspension to airbags but mounted the compressor underneath the drain pipe of the AC so that didn't last to long either.🤣 It's certainly better wirh airbags and relatively smooth in the field but driving it down a dirt road is still torture. In the last 500 hours we also had to replace all the buttons and joystick on the armrest. But due to the supply chain issues it took 4 mount for the new joystick to arrive, so we had the tractor parked in the middle of a field and couldn't move it anymore 🙄
@@OOpSjm that is very true. I don't want to make the tractor sound to bad. He really does pull good and is comfortable to drive. It dosnt got any of the fancy things like a JD or cade would have, so it's pretty easy to operate. Just not sure if we would go for tracks again
Just curious. Does it seem rough or just because it's a track machine? I've ran some Challengers and RTs and they seemed just as rough/rougher. Never been in a Quadtrack or Deere "Quadtrack" I thought the Versatile was slightly smoother than the 2 track. Maybe the pivoting boggies. One I ran was the same way though. Hardpan in high gear would rattle your teeth. Plenty of crap fell in the cab. The monitor didn't last very long either. 😂
Great video. I drove a Versatile tractor 1973-1976. And it was at least 10 years old I think. Oh. And NO enclosed cab. In northwest Florida. After my first year I got waterproof radio that would only pick up 1 station, and it was a gospel station. Also, the only controls I had was the huge gear shift lever, 1 hydrologic lever to raise/lower disc, and the steering wheel. NO buttons to push and absolutely no joystick or monitors.
as someone ho worked at a versatile dealer as a tech, they seemed pretty reliable other than the hydraulic couplers were forever blowing out, and they would occasionally eat hydraulic pumps. i couldn't complain too much about them, they seemed pretty alright, they were simple and easy to work on. thankfully the couplers took less than 5 mins to change. could swap them for something different.
I’m a OTR driver. You need a Pure sine wave 2000 watt+ inverter to run a Tassimo. It’s because of the computer in it. You can run a Keurig with a modified sine wave. The heating elements in both require at least 2000 watt continuous power rating.
Definitely would be cool to see you demo a versatile, yes the cab functions aren’t as fancy but still pretty decent, I did this fall get to run a 520 on big duals, and it was pretty good! Biggest thing is the door for the cab, better learn to duck lol cup holders are decent, stereo was actually pretty good, learning curve going from throttle/ shifter combo to a separate controls wasn’t to bad, would do a transmission reprogram to when you start or use clutch it goes to 3 or 1 instead or 4-6, but tons of grunt from the Cummins! I’d definitely delete and get rid of the bulky muffler! Another feature that is actually nice is your separate switch to turn hydro pump on or off so save on auxiliary pump then it just uses main pump! And man those cabs are huge!! And you could fit 2-3 big people in that cab and still have room!
I was gonna say we already know you are on the south side of that map because of the video where you crossed the international border! So my guess is the south side of the map is that border. I’m glad y’all got out to see and do some new stuff!
Stabbing in the dark here.. the stationary "footpedel" is for when you want to turn around without swiveling your seat? A pivot point if you will. I dont own any tractors; I just find them amazing.
I own a 610 with 900 duals. Its a great tractor. Versatile does an excellent job of putting all that power down to the ground and it pulls like crazy. However the cab is not as refined as a Deere. It's a bit louder inside and the surfaces feel a bit cheaper. And getting into the cab you have to climb up onto the first step and then open the door. The design of the door limits you from opening it from step 2 or higher. Not sure where the Versatiles are priced at today but 2 or 3 years back the difference in price between it and a comparable Deere was incredible. The decision to buy one was very easy! Anyway, it would be worth your time to demo one
Last harvest down here in Australia they had one 620dt Versatile pulling out bogged trucks and the guy driveing it said they are very smooth and can really pull but they also had a another one on 3mtr wheel tracks but it was a 580 on wheels they said it was a little bit ruffer and pulling wasn’t it’s strong suit.
