OJ acted as if it was hard to fit the gloves but he removed it smoothly as if there was a butter that slides the gloves off easily. Watch the video at the end when he removed the gloves.
This is a good man. I was in grammar school when this all went down and I remember seeing him on the television and thinking exactly that. 24 years later I feel the same about him. I hope he’s doing alright and has had a fruitful life since this awful time in American law’s history.
There's a video on UA-cam of Vincent Bugliosi explaining exactly how and why Clark and Darden screwed up this case. Not one for brevity, it's near enough 8 hours long if you watch both parts but it gives a real insight into how Simpson walked out of that courtroom.
Asking Simpson to try on the gloves was a mistake that a novice trial lawyer would have been ashamed to make. Gotta feel a bit sorry for the guy, making his mistake in public like that. But he just wasn't a good advocate.
@@gomes3776 I heard Cochran say that he told Darden that the gloves wouldn't fit In O.J.'s hands. Now why would Cochran give advice to the prosecution? Secondly. I understand that he wasn't contacted, and I would be a little stand offish had there been a TV show heavily influenced by my real life without any permission or even contact from the producers - but why is he being so rude? He knew full well when he signed on as a prosecuter on the "trial of the century" he would become a subject of media interest and even though it is twenty years later, there'd be repercussions. The show paints him in a wonderful light that he stood and fought for justice, even if it meant he was "turning his back" on his race. Judging from this clip, he isn't quite as heroic as the show depicts him to be. And hey, if your book spent 24 weeks on the best sellers list, it looks like you've cashed in enough on the trial to worry about "compensation". His portrayal in the mini series is so well done and he seems so ungrateful that he wasn't portrayed in any negative way. The guy is a huge jerk. Marcia Clark's response to the mini series was so positive and she even praised Sarah Paulson of her portrayal of herself. Keep in mind, Marcia ALSO lost this case. Hell, one of the jurors in the trial (Yolanda Crawford) thought it was a bad idea. Why didn't Darden see that having O.J. Simpson try on the glove was a bad idea?
Not ensuring the dude took his meds for weeks before trying on the gloves was another blunder. If the court can't make OJ take his medication, this idea should've been scrapped outright.
Yeah totally his fault and not racial manipulation from Johnny Cochran. Did you half pay attention to the mini series and now think you understand the trial or something?
Great casting!!! Great acting!! But definitely wished they did reach out to him and found more insight from him to make a more detailed and compelling story

Popcornsprinkles I’m a white guy in Atlanta but I have heard colleagues talk about light/dark skinned and I have heard it as a negative but also a positive thing.
Chris Darden was a „too nice guy“ to be able to cope with this case. The bogus failure of Simpson trying on his own blood-sodden gloves while wearing latex gloves was a HUGE mistake, and one which led to the lie of the century „If it doesn‘t fit, you must acquit“. Furthermore the prosecution also made a further HUGE mistake of not showing the footage of Simpson trying to escape in his car with a disguise and a gun in his luggage, and during which he virtually confessed to the murders „I‘m the only one who deserves to be hurt“. Also instead of saying to the jury how difficult it is to come to a verdict in this case, as Chris Darden did, he should have made it crystal clear on the basis of the huge amount of incriminating evidence (the cut on his hand, the blood on and in his car, the blood in his driveaway, the blood in his porch, the blood in his house on his socks etc etc). The prosecution also failed to prove in the criminal trial what the prosecution was able to prove in the civil trial, that is, that Simpson owned rare „ugly ass“ size 12 Bruno Magli shoes, the imprints of which were found at the scene of the crime. Sorry, but Simpson was acquitted for two reasons : a weak prosecution, and a lying defense.
Simpson was acquitted because of a black jury. There was more than enough evidence. Sure, the prosecutors made mistakes but it didn't matter. It was payback for Rodney King and years of abuse by the LAPD.
@@SonicVisionX Yeah that's the biggest thing. No matter what piece of evidence they brought in, OJ was getting acquitted. You can say it was because of mistakes that the prosecution made, but in all honesty they did their very best and presented all the evidence that they needed to. If this trial took place like less than a decade later, they would have won easily. Smooth talking and racial manipulation from Johnny Cochran are the only reasons why OJ won the case. I'm so sick of the prosecution getting called incompetent, I bet you if you put any prosecution team in there the same thing would have happened.
@@Damianoutlaw There was no eye witness, and the murder weapon was never recovered. However, Simpson left a lot of his blood at the crime scene, and he smeared his own blood and that of both of his victims on the inside of his car, and on his socks in his house, and a trail of his own blood was found between his car and his house. Simpson “lost” a suitcase while travelling to the airport, so probably an accomplice got rid of it for him, and it probably contained the murder weapon. He also left a bloody footprint of expensive Bruno Magli shoes at the crime scene which he claimed he did not possess, but after the criminal trial it was proven that he did own and wear such shoes, as several pictures of him wearing them turned up. The criminal trial was a pure farce, and a mockery of the word justice, but at least the civil trial found him responsible (=guilty) of the murders.

At least 2 other mistakes: Didn't force OJ to take his meds so his hands would not enlarge; didn't get replicas that were the same brand, size, and materials to remove the "blood shrank them" theory. Why would they make him try on the contaminated gloves when several things were considered makes you wonder what else was on Darden's mind that day?
They were bumblers ace high. Even now he plays coy! Look he can't even admit he made a mistake! So proud. Why was it one of the greatest moments in Court room history ( his words) the prosecution's job is to convict not fail to introduce evidence that would help to prove he was guilty and allow opportunity's for doubt in the jury's mind.
