He did say that the music the skaters choose to put behind the video is part of who they are, it explains what kind of person they are in other words. Not how he said it but just rephrased.
I'm old. I first listened this song the same way: Skateboard video. It feels like a million years ago. I missed it, haven't heard it in a while. Damn, it brought back memories. Not a good time for me and my family then but still, good times. Dyou know what I mean?
@islanderboi89 That's just one of many reasons why skate videos are cool, because most of these kids would still be kickin it listening to Kanye, but because at heart skateboarding is such a huge counter culture, you often hear underground music in skate videos.
gotta give props to the people who made this music, best song for skate part ever, probobally one of my favorite parts since i was a little kid, will have to look into mellow and explore there music
yep, this song is really mind blowing. i remember listening to this on my cd player when i was walking home from school, shit gave me the goose bumps. definitely one of the greatest musical experiences ive had in my life
J'écoutais ça quand j'avais la 20ène.. super souvenirs. j'ai racheté another mellow en version spring sans faire gaffe.. deuxieme claque plus de 10 ans plus tard.. quelle prod!
I was listening to Epitaph for the first time just now and had to think where I heard the melody from before. Then it came to me, Shinda Shima! Odd that I head this before Crimson! lol
I went one day to Shinda Shima A place which is suposed to be a land of peace and happiness i went one day to shinda shima a place which is more of to be a land of desolation Shinda Shima Shinda shima Do you think I can trust you Do you think i can trust I you I went one day To shinda Shima I saw some people suffering and children crying everyday i went one day to shinda shima I think i'll never go again, A place of seclusion Shinda Shima Do you think i can trust Shinda Shima Do you think I can trust you?
For me this song talks about place or things that you are sure that is awesome because you heard it was, but when you have it or that you get there, you realize that what everybody said was so wrong, and it happens so often, i think it means something like don't trust what people says!
the song is about an island in an old british tv show from the 60s called danger man. apparently its a real island some where and used to have a village on it until the whole tribe was suddenly gone. 3 people who traveled there have gone missing. really hard to find information about the island, the song, and the old tv show. super weird
French, electronic, they've swum in the same circles a little bit. Seemed like it'd get some new people in to check out Mellow, since they're far less known! :)
All of history builds on what has come before, or it doesn't build at all. Nothing exists in a vacuum, and no art is without its predecessors. Some art plays it closer to its influences than other art. This song is a very intentional reference to great music that has come before, translated into a new context. Unless the band pretends they're purely original and takes credit for ideas wholly not its own...who cares?

Such a true song and yes Mellow is a very good band.
For me this song talks about place or things that you are sure that is awesome because you heard it was, but when you have it or that you get there, you realize that what everybody said was so wrong, and it happens so often, i think it means something like don't trust what people says!
