    Great video! You will have to patent that plan😄❗️I thing I have done to my homemade stands is instead of big roof overhangs I have been adding a plywood overhang or “awning” right over my windows. I tack up some 45 degree angle brackets above the windows and put the plywood on it. I make it as low as I can and still get a good view. This creates a shadow over the window and allows you to get away with more movement, it blocks out the sun and it really makes it seem like you have a lot more room in the blind. I can’t believe how much I like this and have done it to all my blinds! Might want to give it a try! Looking forward to your finished product!

    Nice project! I like the fact the older tractors did not have any fancy linkages, wires, sensors underneath! So you can drive in the bush without being worried about breaking some expensive stuff. Thanks!

      I managed to get it stood up and everything looked great. I was planning on getting the deck boards put on this weekend. But, we had a bad storm roll through here & uprooted a pine tree and demolished it. Back to the drawing board again. Thank god the elevator brackets and 4x4's survived the impact.

    Putting the cross members in before raising it would have been easier and less apt to damage legs with less stress on 4x4's raising the stand up. Nice to see it done without doing that, but the 4x4's could split when raising like that.

    • @backinthewoods2022
      @backinthewoods2022  4 роки тому +2

      Garry Talley the problem is when you brace it and then stand it up in the woods on uneven ground it’s very difficult to level it then without taking the braces back off. If you do not have them on it is very easy to move the 4x4 back and forth individually level it then brace it.

    Hey Kirk , I am looking at making a 8x6 elevated blind. I was looking at the bracket and they specify Max load 1000lbs.
    I am thinking the structure alone would weigh that. And I am not a small guy. What's your thoughts on this. I want to make one sturdy enough and comfortable enough for 2 large guys.

    • @backinthewoods2022
      @backinthewoods2022  4 роки тому +1

      My Slice Of Heaven Outdoors I have one I built that was 8x8 the same way I did this recent one it is on one of my early videos. I never even looked at the weight rating and only used four brackets, although I am pretty sure they make brackets that go in the middle and don’t offset on two different angles( I hope that makes sense) that would give you an extra support post, anyway mine with four brackets is perfectly fine never felt unsafe even with me and my husky friend in there solid as a rock.

    • @MySliceOfHeavenoutdoors
      @MySliceOfHeavenoutdoors 4 роки тому

      @@backinthewoods2022 Thank you, I was thinking it would be fine. The brackets are rated at 250lbs each, so 4 gives the 1000lb rating. They look solid though. Thanks again for the input.

    Waste of material on the actual 6x6 box. Could use firing strips for corners and frame. In a wall that size to have a small window leaves huge blind spots in all the corners. I’ve built several of these and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to do it right. Cooking steaks on watch and heating with propane????

      Pretty major overkill on all the wood. 2x6 is plenty for the floor. If you deck the floor and crossbrace the legs before lifting it will take most of the wobble you were getting lifting it up. You can also rip the wall studs in 1/2 and its plenty strong and a lot lighter putting together.
