Our Last Day in Barcelona | The Vintage Market of Mercantic
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- A local of Barcelona messaged me to say the Mercantic market in the hills above Barcelona is not to be missed, so we immediately grabbed the Bonneville's keys and headed off on Suanday morning to experience it.

Hi Freddie, Nice to meet you on the street in Ipswich. I’m Andy with the 317k VW T5 van. Lovely chatting and thanks for the advise. Keep on travelling fella. Hopefully see you around. Thanks Andy Snelling.
Been to Barcelona once, absolutely loved it. A nice vibe about it. Loved the architecture. Can’t wait to go again.
Don't forget the Bassella Motorcycle Museum on your way home towards and through Andorra, passing Col de Nargo on the way! Oh sorry, you have probably already left and missed it out! Never mind, remember remember it for next time! Welcome back to the cold wet UK weather guys!!
I had this in my list, but it was closed on the day I planned to visit. I will return to see it soon though. Thanks Peter🙂
Another truly majestic adventure between the two of you! Thanks for sharing & taking me on this journey 🙌 It’s been great!
Thank you!🙂
I started watching your moto vids but I'm loving these travel videos too, maybe more! Thanks.
Welcome home guys. Thanks for another awesome video.
Loved these videos in Barcelona and inspired by you, I finally planned to do a motorcycle tour next year in Catalunya.
It’s riding heaven- you’ll LOVE it!🙂
Great! Welcome to our piece of land
This book bar is impressive and fascinating.
Love the pace of life in Europe, something the UK.has unfortunately lost, yer beautiful cite Barcelona, enjoyed your trip👌❤️
I don’t ever remember the pace of life in the UK being slow. Everyone trying to do their business and get from A to B. The traffic has gotten massively worse since the 90’s for obvious reasons.
It really is very different to the UK are lifestyle. I always end up falling back into the frantic UK lifestyle, no matter how hard I try not to😆
@@FreddieDobbs if I could pop off to Europe for 6 months to chill, the frantic UK lifestyle would be much easier 😆
Freddie, love your videos (shout out to Monika), watch them all. I have to say, you are one of the few people I have ever heard use the word "penultimate." Good on you!
Weather isnt bad at all here in Essex for this time of year which isnt too far from you. Still fairly warm for Dec.
Your old girl (bonnie ) still cuts the mustard Freddie 😉 cheers from a frosty 🥶 Cumbria
All the best mark 🇬🇧🍺👍🏻
Great episode! The market looks amazing to have a rummage around. Safe journey home Freddie and Monika.
Love the music choices. 🎹
Awesome video and awesome content can’t wait for the next video Thank’s Freddie and Monika
You're not wrong about UK weather. I rode my beemer from North Wales to London and back in a day. So cold when I got in at 1am it took me three hours (under two duvets and a blanket) to get warm enough to sleep. Hands were fine due to heated grips and handlebar muffs. It was the rest of me which was the problem. I used to enjoy Sundays out at Camden Market just like yours at Mercantic, especially around the Stables area. But that was back in the 1990s/early 2000s not sure how it is today. Good film once again, shame you're not staying longer. If I was you I would turn around and head for Ibiza.
Ahhhhh I can imagine how bitter that ride must’ve been! Screaming into your helmet in agony- I know the feeling😆🥶 Ibiza is actually a superb shout!
Oh wow, this is literally 3 streets from my home. Its so bizarre to see it from your eyes and on a youtube video. Glad you enjoyed your stay in St. Cugat! Great video
What a beautiful place to live!🙂
@@FreddieDobbs thank you! If you're ever back and want to grab a beer first one is on me, your channel has been a great discovery for me this year. Your genuine awe and appreciation of so many different places under the scope of a motorcycle riding channel is so refreshing and so chill at the same time. Thank you for your content ☺️
Freddie, fantastic video! I've loved everything you've done around Barcelona!
Great videos!
Go back in your old age and see if you can spot a first edition copy of my first book, Freddie. Haha!
Barcelona seems a great place. Looking forward to the trip back.
That sounds like a great way to start the day, although I'm ahead of you. I pour it on my cornflakes in the morning..
Great city and you have given me some good ideas for next year.
Thanks for sharing
Happy, safe travels 👍
I now know what happened to hinge and bracket, looks a good place for a good rummage around
What a beautiful market, glad you got to see it before you left. Thanks for another great series of videos from you latest stay. I know when I watch your videos they will be positive, beautiful and educational. Thank you
Thanks Freddie, a very interesting and slow, loveable place!! And great supportive videography by Monika as well - slow movement, very steady - great hands. And thanks for the editing and production quality as always. Summer all year round :)
Thank you Gream🙂
I have lived in Barcelona for many years and' have even visited Sant Cugat. Never knew about this place though. Looking forward to seeing your other vids (as well as visiting Mercantic!).
NB. The little palm tree square you film at 12:27 was the entrance to what was my home for 4 years. It's a 5th old street joining the square (still cobbled) that has become privatized due to the university being built at the end of it. Lovely area (until 12am!).
Nice one Freddie and Monika, the vintage market looks like a great day out....
Fantastic conclusion to an insight into living in Spain. I hope you two have got your woolly jumpers ready…….5.c forecast for this weekend in England. Just remember that beach view and the smell of the pine trees in the mountains.
Happy return! No place like home😊
I'm sorry to see you leaving Barcelona but looking forward to your next journey my friends
Freddie, do you and Monica work out loads, every video I see and I love watching them, I see you drinking coffee and eating cakes etc.
I would have to spend ages in the gym, maybe it's the metabolism of youth lol!
Enjoyable as ever, need to say nothing more. Drive/ride safe.
Your videos are excellent. So informative and so much detail about the places you visit. Makes me want to pack up my little car🚙 and go on a tour as well. Thanks
What a cool city it is. Thanks for reminding me guys!!
What a lovely place. Hopefully one day I will get the chance to visit. Safe trip home.
Great video what an interesting place
I spent 37 years in the book trade working for a publisher, so I found this so interesting
Ahhh interesting! So many die-hard book enthusiasts- it was very entertaining watching their passion for books🙂
Another brilliant video Freddie, brought back many happy memories of Barcelona. It’s a bit off subject but do you have in-helmet audio from the satnav or do you just rely on sight?
Freddie! It’s not a clip of ammo, it’s a magazine! Love the vid. Always look forward to your stuff.👍🏻
This was the extent of my military vocabulary😆 Thank you- I’ll remember this🙂
@@FreddieDobbs A bit tongue in cheek Freddie..Americans call it a clip us British call it a magazine! We are slowly losing our English language! I for one feel I am fighting a losing battle to keep it!
Thx 🙏🏻… and hey, Freddie (just to know): your Bonneville is the nicest & most beautiful one of them all with this wonderful saddlebags, the best looking pipes & style ❤✨👍🏻 … wish u 2 the best time there & back in 🇬🇧, drive/ ride safe 🌈
That’s extremely kind of you to say so, thank you!😀😍🏍
@@FreddieDobbs definitely ment so 👍🏻 I’m just an GS-driver, but love triumph & here especially the old charming once. Glad who knows to work on it. Keep looking forward to drive a SpeedTwin or even the real Bonneville 🤙🏻
Old V.H.S. tapes can be converted to dvd or digital. Asda and others provide this service...Another great vid.👍
I didn’t know this- I’ve passed this on to my parents, thank you!🙂
@@FreddieDobbs No probs.
Guy's just fantastic and if I were you I just would not bother coming back here it's just to horrible for sooo many reasons your in the right place no doubts . What you need to do Freddie is get that Harley I'm gonna do it next year come what may by hook or by crook and probably at the crook end I fear😆 it's a must have before you fall of the perch although hopefully your nowhere near as close to that as me 😉👌👍
I love this attitude- I may have to join you on the “by crook” method!😆 It is a shock to the system being back🥶
I see Inspector Clouseau likes a Vermouth too 😉
Letting u know u have fans here in the Philippines!
Am very jealous but will be in Barcelona next year! Prob not on the bike though.
I looked at prices and worked out cheaper and quicker going via channel!! Wtf!?!
Bon nadal!
P.s Yeah dont come back haha.
It’s weird how prices work- the prices fluctuate so much! Thank you🙂🙌🏻
@@FreddieDobbs £500 and 33 hrs each way. Plus add on fuel n 2 stops maybe..
Via tunnel was £100 tunnel plus £100 petrol n 3 night stops.
Thats doing say 200 miles or so per day!
The ride time from say Santander 11hrs and the ride time from Calais say 14..
So save £200 going via France and not 66 hrs on ferry! (Thought crossing 24hrs..but seems to have changed).
Freddie…. What on earth was the broccoli on…🏍😁👍
I knew someone would ask this😆 It was a kind of veggie focaccia. Very tasty!😀
good stuff Freddie.👌
Freddie, their are actually 150,001 books in that hall, the latest addition was Monika’s, How too make motorcycle videos, could you ask her to sign it for me,thank you 😂😂😂
Haha thank you Stephen- Monika’s on the case!😀
I imagine the vermouth was somewhat smoother than the band at said book emporium
These places aren't my cup of tea, or even a glass of Vermouth . And as for charging an entrance fee! 😱
Shame no additional mountain rides using the Insta360 X3 before your departure. Superb roads and scenery around there.
Ahhh I know- the time just ran away from me completely!🤯
Ok 👌👍
Almost 16 000 people per square kilometre in Barcelona according to wiki, can you imagine that? Population density 3 times bigger than in London. There is an answer why there is coffee shop literally every corner.
Barcelona is on the sea. Having lived there for many years I know the granier side of life.
Not all pictures and pigtails.
Not decrying DB and Monika content .
Pure quality.
This blows my mind!🤯 Thank you for sharing this🙌🏻
Yes, everyone wants to live here
Bonny starts a treat now? Everytime u get on it my brain goes I wonder??.but it’s sorted eh. Safe journey and successful passing of 200k for fiat. You should ring fiat and “collaborate” great advert for them. When I had my place in southern Spain used to amaze me all old guys drinking beer for breakfast just a little 33cl bottle maybe 1E how does cafe make a living😁
A town and very posh and expensive
Give yourself the freedom to buy a new motorcycle and trade in the 2010 Bonneville for a 2023 black and white or whichever but stick with the triumph like you know! the quality is much better than the Royal Enfield.
Hay Hay first 🤪
Thank you Eddie!🙂🥇
Nice Ukrainian Dniepr motorcycle with a side cart sitting there on a side of the road:)
First of all, how dare you berate our Bonnie in front of her peers. Bonnie has had leaks , battery drain and long distance fatigue, but has always got you back to wherever (The Black Triumph was handsome). Yes that sipping coffee with a cigarette would make pick up smoking again (Monika [laugh] ) ,my wife has a beer many morning by 8am here cause they're drinking in Spain (tapas time there).
You know, I felt guilty the second I insulted the (now very trusty) Bonneville! Somehow a beer in the morning seems ok in Spain🍺
It's all so civilised. I wish I had an EU passport...
Freddie and Monika, my wife and I believe that God is showing you which will be your next motorcycle: the 2023 Triumph Bonneville T100 or T120. We release you from your promise to never sell your 2010 Bonneville. The black and white Bonneville looks especially good for you guys. We hope that will be a reality for you very soon. Believe that your heavenly Father wants to bless you and cares very much about you both. We enjoy your videos very much! Thank you for taking the time to make them And showing us beautiful things in life during these turbulent times. Father, in Jesus name, I pray that you would provide a new motorcycle for Freddie and Monika a brand new one. I pray that you would put on the hearts of all of the people who watch their videos to donate money towards his channel so he can purchase with cash the motorcycle that he desires. In Jesus name, amen!
Yes but mercantic is too expensive. Best is the Mercat dels Encants in Glòries
Great to hear your thoughts Dani- I can’t disagree, it was quite expensive!
@@FreddieDobbs anyways, you just know about this one for the next time
UK is crap and getting crapper, kudos on the musical choices for the vids and er, nice camera dangling throughout, must be a good neighbourhood cos that's worth a mugging right there
It’s a good point- I’ll have to be very selective where I actually take the camera. We felt 100% safe with it everywhere in the Barcelona area. Coming back on the underground in London two months ago after buying it, I definitely held onto the bag a little tighter!😆
