Why No One is Adopting PERFECTLY GOOD Huskies (my visit to the animal shelter)

- I went to go visit these huskies at our local animal shelter and they're GORGEOUS, but they tend to get overlooked cause they get a little crazy after spending all day in their kennels waiting to be adopted!
BUT- If you're thinking about getting a husky, be sure to do your research on the breed first!

ABOUT OUR SNOW DOGS
Hi! I'm Samy. As a kid, I was the type to bring home any animal I saw walking alone on the streets. I have no idea where my love of dogs came from, cause my parents definitely did not share it. They allowed me to keep the pets only until I found them their home. When I graduated from college and lived on my own, I made the jump to get Leo! I had always wanted a husky and knew I was about to turn my house upside down from the chaos of owning this type of breed. My latest addition has been the cutest & impudent Samoyed named Graham. I now love sharing our adventures through training, adventuring Utah with them and fostering other pups!
ABOUT THE HUSKIES WE FOSTER
Not all the huskies I share in my content are Leo & Graham, and that's cause I volunteer & foster for Arctic Rescue! There are SO many huskies in shelters right now, and I jumped right into fostering back in 2021 when I saw 2 young female huskies that were about to be euthanized at a shelter. Since then, I've decided to focus my skills in content creation to share as many huskies that need adoption as I can!
I hope through getting them more views & sharing more tips on how to keep happy huskies we can help keep them out of shelters!

This makes me cry. I feel the same way you do. I wish I was rich and had a big house to keep them all. Thank you so much for putting the word out there and hopefully these beautiful dogs will be adopted.
I have parents who have a large home and a few acres.. it's set up perfectly for someone who wouldn't mind having pets.. yet they would get really angry at the idea of having a pet. I'm an animal lover, luckily never will let myself be like my parents.. if I had that house I'd have minimum 20 dogs and cats infact I'd help foster them just because I enjoy watching animals feels good and not suffer. They are domestic animals who we as humans chose to design them therfore I feel responsible for them, we are also the intelligent species and should use our brains for good not cruelty
I wish I lived closer, I would foster/adopt all three.
Check for shelters near you for sure! And maybe start with 1- they can totally be a handful 😂
Thank you. THANK YOU‼️
Thank you for effectively explaining the LOGIC of adopting a shelter dog‼️
👍🏽‼️
It’s so tough, and that’s why I love foster programs!

Beautiful Huskies! I wish we had Huskies at our shelter.
:( Poor babies! I would def adopt one if I lived near by!
Thank you for checking in on them!
We all need to donate to the shelters so they can save unwanted pets.
Thank you Samery. You have a good heart.
Huskies TALK a lot. Good with a family with children, or if you don't like quiet in your home. Great protection dogs too 🐕 👍
😂 I always say Leo has big emotions he needs to get out when he talks
Mine is a Husky-Pit mix, 100% complete Attention Hound. He's built like a pit but Husy tail, ears, and sky blue 💙 eyes. I admit, because he's so freaking cute at 12yrs old...He still gets whatever he wants...Im weak 🤭. He talks for whatever he wants. 🤦 Spoil rotten 🙅♂️🙅♀️🙅
I want to adopt another dog so bad... I already smothered my coon hound mix with tons of love... Need to bring it up to my landlord again..this is so sad..dogs are so special
😂 I totally get you. If I could, I’d have a whole sled team of huskies haha
You should get him a friend.. I think all animals should have a friend aside from the human otherwise they get really lonely and you have to play with them more than you should
@@benbrown9053 I agree she definitely does need a friend it's good for them to have that... She's even really good with kittens it's so cute how she just mothers them
We adopted a Husky from a shelter and she's the best behaved dog we have.
We’ve fostered 3 huskies from shelters and they’ve been adopted & their families say they’re GREAT dogs. We almost kept our last foster. Honestly would do this over a puppy forever 😂
Is adoption free or do we pay for the puppy
They really are fun, energetic dogs that need exercise and engagement. I hope they find homes.
So true! They’re so well behaved as long as you take the time to train & exercise them! I think 1 is getting adopted next week!
@@LifeWithSnowDogs Oh that's good news! I'm so glad. I worked for the HSUS when I lived in Vermont. I couldn't agree with you more about back yard breeders, pet stores, etc. Thanks for your video!
I also rescue huskies in LA , and it makes me upset the stigma around them . All of my huskies are more mellow than my other rescue dogs . I’ll adopt them till the day I die❤ thank you for making these videos
Edit jada’s tail is magnificent
She’s beautiful!! Thanks for loving huskies!
So cute!
Too far, but will like and comment to help spread the word. Good luck!
I'm going to ask you Husky questions? Not likely. Give you credit for the video, but that's as far as I go.
Always attach a second small 18 inch leash to your leash and belt loop and they won’t get away from you. I’ve learned the hard way. If mine gets loose it will run around for 6 hours.
One of the reasons people are not willing to buy is because of the application process. Then the price of some pets. Some feel as they rather just go to the pet store, pay the price and leave without all the intrusive questions.
I've heard the point before, but I feel like rescues have reasonable amounts... $250-350 for mine and that typically comes with a neutered/spayed/up-to-date on shots dog! Way less than actually having to pay to get all that done.. And for the questions, I think this is why unqualified people end up taking husky puppies home and then they end up in the shelter cause they didn't have to think about all the questions they weren't asked at the pet store. It's a problem for sure, so I appreciate you leaving a comment! :)
There is a reason for the questions. It is to make sure that the people who want to adopt have the means, the commitment, and the right attitude to become a pet parent.
I mean if they don’t want to bother with the questions they definitely won’t bother with the work that comes with adopting a puppy. Won’t make the effort to apply, won’t make the effort to maintain them at all
I adopted my first Husky 3 weeks ago. I wish I would of done so sooner. Great dogs! Especially if you exercise a lot outdoors.
Congrats on your husky! And yes, they force me to get outside every day and I love them for it 🥰 lots of work- but worth it!
I wish I was closer. I live in Florida and would give Lobo a permanent home if he was here. i hope all three will find homes soon. lol you get the YOU WERE CHEATING sniff down!!! Great pups!
In some cases you can get someone to drive him to you.
My husky is like Leo, red husky
What a cutie!!
Right now I'm think of getting a husky in the future but not really sure if I should get one because people say they are really hard to train and don't really obey there owners and will run away from home and don't protect there house or owners which really sucks to me
This is absolutely a blanket statement. I’ve had three huskies (all rescued as adults). They have all been trainable to some capacity. Knowledge about the breed, proper training, and the correct lifestyle fit is necessary. But they are very loyal to me and I was able to successfully train two of them to be offleash, so their recall and check-ins are very good (almost perfect) on backcountry hikes. My dogs would absolutely protect me if it came down to it because the bond is strong. Not a breed I would recommend though if you’re looking for an aggressive guard dog.
I admire what you do but seems like your dogs came from breeders?
Yes they did! I got Leo (husky) as a puppy before I knew about rescues. I tried adopting from a shelter, but the husky mix I wanted got adopted by the time I went to pick up- a whole different time 😂 I got Graham from a specific breeder cause I wanted a Samoyed puppy and they’re so rarely at shelters. Now I’m trying to help as many dogs in shelters as I can now that I’ve learned more!
i’m willing to adopt/foster i have experience with huskies
are you in Utah?
@@LifeWithSnowDogs sadly no but willing to travel
Most give them up for a reason...
- big
- loud
- not well socialized
- expensive
This is what happens when you take a breed of dog meant for work...and keep them cuz they're cool.
Your reasons not being good ones tho. Most give them up because they are lazy people and others are people who love to get new things and replace them when they get tired of it. Both me and my wife had a neighbor who would get a kitten then lock him outside as a kitten.. watch it grow outside then get another while we end up buying food for it .. the neighbor I had would get 3 kittens a year and none of them got to live in her house.. her bf drove a ferrari and she couldn't spare money and buy the cats food or litter. There are people like her everywhere who could care less what an animal goes through.. my own father gave away my dog as a kid just because we moved to a new house and he didn't want the backyard to get dirty.
They’re adorable puppies, but gotta commit to the full package!
Some backyard breeders even set standards a lot of them won’t just let a puppy go to anyone!
How come?
@@christopherbeltran7697 because they actually care about the welfare of the husky!
@@FrankAngelOfficial1 Don't shelters also ask what type of lifestyle a person who wants to adopt a husky has and also set standards for people who want to adopt a husky?
@@christopherbeltran7697 surprisingly not all do
@@FrankAngelOfficial1 Ohh okay, I also ask cause I have a shelter kinda near by where I live and I went earlier this month and there was a bunch of huskies in that shelter and I just wondered whether anybody can just walk in there and just adopt a husky and the workers won't ask questions to ensure that the person's lifestyle suits the husky or set standards for people who wanna adopt a husky from there shelter
