In October 2020, the St. Michael’s Choir School Alumni Association invited its members to support and participate in a choral video project featuring a new arrangement of Msgr. Ronan’s Hymn, Thou Royal Knight From Courts On High. Alumnus Josh Tamayo ('03) who conducts the Alumni Association Choir, was hired by the Executive to arrange and produce this video. Since then, the video has grown in scale to include not only Alumni participants and Alumni soloists Douglas Tranquada ('74) and Robert Pomakov (’99), but now features hundreds of St. Michael’s Choir School students. Additionally, an ensemble of instrumentalists are featured along with Alumni organist David Simon (2011) providing the accompaniment.
This video is a testament to the benefits of collaboration between Alumni and the school; working together to celebrate the genius of Msgr. Ronan in the performance of Sacred music that can be enjoyed by all.
On behalf of the Alumni Executive and the Choir School, and as a result of tremendous good will and cumulative effort between the school and the Association, we are please to present Msgr. Ronan’s newly arranged hymn, Thou Royal Knight From Courts On High.
