    Mate I feel exactly the same as you did! I’m from the south of England and have built a career in engineering that I’m really proud of of but still not feeling satisfied. Long story short I’ve booked a solo trip to LA in June and applied for my Canadian working visa last night. Excited to see what the future holds, thanks for the great video!

    I adore Canada, found the locals very friendly and mild mannered, I too have grown disillusioned with london life after 25 years. The ooonly thing thats stopping me packing my bags and relocating to toronto is the harsh winter weather, im just not built for it loool.

    • @BarnDoorProductions
      @BarnDoorProductions 3 роки тому

      You'll get used to it. Honestly, it's only a few days of the year that we consider "harsh". After a few years, if it isn't up to your waist in snow and -35 degrees, you'll realize that it's just poor sunbathing weather.

    • @schenier
      @schenier 3 роки тому +1

      You get used to it. When I was in high school, I even had friends that came from Togo (Africa) and they got used to winter faster that the summer (which they found too hot because of the humidity).

    Well I was searching how to move to Canada from uk and this pretty much summed up my feelings on it. I left college at 18 and spent last 2 years working for local council dreading each day. I finally quit a few weeks ago. Spent a week in Schiedam at a table tennis camp and then went to Canada and spent 12 days travelling from Calgary to Banff having the best time of my life. I’m trying to push myself and whilst I understand being on holiday is different to everyday life, have set myself the goal of traveling more but also trying to move to Canada as I loved it there! And even if it didn’t work out it would still be an experience!
    And as mentioned in your video, if you have any helpful sites or tips for moving to Canada it would be appreciated! I’ve only experienced west coast but our guide was telling us how much she enjoyed living in Toronto as well!

    • @Airportris
      @Airportris 5 років тому +1

      The West coast and east coast are very expensive... so is Toronto. If you can live in the suburbs of bigger cities it's pretty good rent or find a roommate to live in the city with. Toronto and Vancouver are the best cities in my opinion.

      U should rather consider moving to Africa. Many people do not consider that. If u move there with a savings of lets say £40,000 u will never have to work for the rest of ur life. U will never have to look for a job. Any business u invest in with that money can literally sustain u for the rest of ur life and u will then be able to travel around the world. A lot of people never consider it but that's the deal. That is why the Chinese are going there in drones. Make hey while da sun shines. Some African countries are actually safer than Canada. Like Gambia and Ghana for instance. Think about it.

    I've been thinking of applying for permanent residence in Canada. I am pretty confident I can get it, but I've seen so many horror stories about what happens after arriving in Canada, like people ending up doing blue-collar work when they have a masters degree etc, being lonely and depressed. I'm up for a new adventure since my partner passed recently, and I've been in China for the past 12 and a half years and I have a comfortable life that I'd describe as being in the comfort zone that you described in your video. I know I'm ready for a change. It seems like you were well-prepared financially and that you had amazing luck with the people you met when you first arrived.
    What are the major challenges you faced as a new immigrant to Canada?

    Hey mate, I'm looking into getting duel-citizenship due to my family routes. My grandfather being a Canadian born citizen moved to the UK as a child, later worked in the RAF throughout WW2 and then had my father in 1948 who then later adopted me in 1996. After looking at the legislation around citizenship through decent, all I can say is that it's incredibly confusing but it would be worth it in the long run in regard to my degree/career choice (Archaeology and History - Joint honours) which seems to actually have value in Canada unlike here in the UK (unless you go the teaching route.
    Great video and very informative by the way!

    Ironically, Toronto was originally called York, and was settled by Yorkshiremen. One only has to look at the place names around it. In 1834, it was renamed with the native Huron name Toronto. The burroughs of the city are Etobicoke (another aboriginal name), York, East York, North York, and Scarborough. The Yorkshiremen were soon crowded out by Scots and Irish, with the Scots holding fast to the city's Establishment for a century, and it's still customary for any public event to be thick with bagpipers. The gloom of Presbyterian and Anglican Sundays was notorious in Toronto until a flood of Italians arrived to liven things up ---- then everybody else in the world.
