All these decades later my nephews still tell me that the time I took them to see this was a highlight of their childhood.

The 'whole soundtrack' to the movie was not composed by Bowie. Bowie contributed 5 songs, but the opening theme and incidental background music was by Trevor Jones, a specialist film composer. So 2 Joneses there, but unrelated so far as I know!

The video here was directed by Steve Barron, who by 1986 had already directed a few indisputably classic videos, chief among them "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson, and "Take On Me" by a-ha. Barron's feature debut was "Electric Dreams" in 1984, which tried to blend sci-fi filmmaking with music video techniques. It's uneven, but earnestly meant, and kind of adorkable in its own way.
"Labyrinth," by contrast, would turn out to be Jim Henson's final film as director. It was a commercial disappointment when it premiered, and Henson really took that hard.
"As the World Falls Down" and "Underground" were the two singles released from the OST, with Steve Barron helming both videos (the only times he and David Bowie would collaborate, oddly enough).
A few years later, in 1990, Steve Barron would return to the big screen for his sophomore effort, with a HUGE assist coming back from Jim Henson.
Remember how Steve Barron directed the promo videos for "Labyrinth"? Well, Jim Henson's Creature Shop would provide costumes for Steve Barron's 1990 film.
You've probably seen it: "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."
