Daoko explained about this song in her blog post. This song was written a year and a half ago so it's not about the current situation and it's a total coincidence that the word "漏れ出す疫病"(leaking epidemic) was used. It's actually about how she feels being in Shibuya, where she spent her teenage years. The city has been rapidly changing with redevelopment/urban renewal and there are so many new buildings that block her view when she looks up to the sky. That makes her feel uneasy and she feels as if she (or human being) doesn't belong here. Every step she takes makes her feel like the psychological distance between her and the city is just getting further.
Thank you very much. I read her blog but the only way that I can read it is by putting the text into a translator. I can read/say only basic stuff in Japanese, so your post kinda cleared things out for me.
Also I think that the meaning of the song is sad. It must hurt to see your favorite part of town, the place where you grew up change. I hope DAOKO is happy now, even tho by her recent IG posts it looks like she still has problems. Well the only thing I can do right now is to wish her a good and happy life.

@@ken-yo2hz My favorite album is her DAOKO album. Suisei（水星）, Iya（嫌）, Ichibanboshi （一番星）were my top 3 most listened to songs on Spotify since 2017 which all come from this album.

Yeah she really went into mainstream music ever since like 2015 sadly, she got more popular so good on her but it wasn't the same, happy she made this song

In my opinion this is her best song, I love the low electronica undertones with the soft singing Japanese voice. Its like a whole new genre of music that I would love to hear more of.
i can recommend you "the sand castle" and "bamboo princess" i have no idea if those kinds of songs are a genre in itself, but i also love to hear calm electronic melodies with sweet voices, those songs are from a group called wednesday campanella, also from japan.

To the English listeners who are wondering what the lyrics are about:
daoko's first album was Hyper Girl, released under LOW HIGH WHO? productions. She had many fans that liked her soft voice and quiet rapping. At 2:20 she says that the only reason she was able to come this far is because of her unique ("weird") music.
After a few years, DAOKO slowly started to move her genre closer towards pop. An approximate turning point would probably be when she released her single ShibuyaK. A greater turning point would be Fireworks with Yonezu Kenshi.
Though she made new fans through her new style, she also lost old ones. I personally preferred her old style a lot more. The song is mostly about her public image vs her self image. She's self-aware that singing pop songs isn't exactly cool, but she states "if it sells, you won't have to struggle right?"
