    Besides the charging port having to be replaced, it sounds like 90% of this could happen to any vehicle. If something broke like your alternator in a gas car, you'd still have been stuck due to a long holiday weekend, Ford scheduling issues/delays, parts ordering and long delays with Roadside Towing. When a new vehicle breaks, you're at the mercy of a dealership no matter what you drive. Only issues with EVs are decent super chargers for long trips!

    Mine left me stranded at the grocery store at 5k miles. Had it towed to Ford dealership the following day in the am. It was at the dealer for two months and they provided a rental car (gas). They had to replace the junction box and do the software update. A technician has to do one of the updates manually, not over the air. I used lemonlaw group and Ford sent me a fat check for the inconvenience. I still kept my Mach E because I love it more than my Tesla Model 3 Performance I replaced.

    Same problem here while traveling with family in a camper and ram truck. Emissions prob popped up and shut the truck down. In the middle of Nebraska. Called 4 dealers, all booked two weeks out. Called ram, they couldn’t help and didn’t care. Told each dealer I’m broke down with two small kids. Didn’t care. One dealer told me about a delete guy that removed the emissions garbage after a couple days and I went on down the road. Nobody cares now days with any of these companies, not just ford. They couldn’t think outside the box and wouldn’t lift their hand outside of an appointment for no amount of money. When you think about it, almost all large companies are the same way now days. They don’t know, don’t care, can’t help, won’t help, and pawn everything off to someone else. In the end it voided my warranty but if they won’t help you at the worst time then what good is it anyway. Good luck to ya.

    Any new car model can suffer from issues like this. That's why it's not a great idea to be an early adopter of any new vehicle, as you're essentially doing extended real-world testing for the manufacturer. It sux this happened to you on a holiday weekend, but that's the main reason you had such a bad support experience, not because they didn't try to help you. From the details you gave, it really sounds like the dealer went out of their way to try and accommodate you despite their maintenance department being fully booked up. I know it was a crummy situation to be in, but show a little humility, the world doesn't revolve around you.

    • @littlebigbrother7279

      @thestrange_1 2 роки тому +4

      @@littlebigbrother7279 I think his expectations for immediate assistance, over a major holiday weekend, were a bit too high. The situation he found himself in was undoubtedly crummy, it was the worst time for something to go wrong. That said, a part failed, one that's essential to the operation of the vehicle. I hope Ford is making note of this and investigating whether this is a one-off failure of this part or a major problem with all mach-e's.
      Personally, I'm not a big fan of what Ford did with this car. I feel that by branding it a "Mustang", they are trying to be too many things with this one car. It's not a sports car, it's a crossover. While it's capable of quick acceleration, that's not a rare feature with EVs.

I don’t know how he could go with the Mach E living where we do (buffalo NY area) without a heat pump. The already low range of 220 gets significantly reduced in the winter. I went with the EV6 awd GT line. So far it’s the best car I’ve ever owned in every regard. Hopefully it doesn’t let me down in the winter. For how much vehicles are costing nowadays they should operate flawlessly. I never was a fan of domestic motor brands personally.

      @@littlebigbrother7279 I've owned a few different cars over the years, a few of them have been Fords. My last was a Fusion and it's been the best of the cars I've owned. Extremely reliable, great handling and decent fuel economy (despite my lead foot). So I admit I may be a bit biased when it comes to Ford, I want them to succeed. But I can't say I agree with all the decisions they've made lately. Like the decision to stop selling cars (with the exception of the Mustang) in the U.S. I would have easily bought another Fusion (mine is over 14 years old), but they don't sell them anymore. Electric is the future and I hope Ford gets their game together and produces a lineup of EVs that are competitive.

    That's terrible, and I totally agree that the dealers are not prepared to repair their EVs yet. Both from spare parts and from a training perspective. These things are a huge hassle, all those lost hours sitting in those charging stations, huge anxiety, plus a outrageous expense in the long run. Good luck trying to sell a used Electric car with wore out battery modules. You'll find out nobody wants to pay the ridiculous price of batteries ... Batteries are very ... very expensive to replace ( thousands of dollars) ... and make no mistake, you will be replacing them. Damn this all sounds very frustrating. I know I would be. I'm looking heavily into EVs right now.. the Lightning.. then the Kia EV6.. and now the Mach-e. I'm absolutely not new to wrenching on vehicles (toys and daily drivers alike including 2 mustangs).. but the pain is always amplified when you have issues away from home and compounded bring hundreds from home and in a holiday weekend nonetheless.
    As someone that has been fully embracing EV tech over the years and finally seeing my opportunity to go EV myself draw nearer it absolutely has to be a must that when taking this leap that your fully aware that these vehicles have great capabilities but with those capabilities come some very drastic inconveniences. Certainly from a "refuleling" standpoint we have to adjust the way we plan trips. This is relatively simple if we never leave the range of our vehicle. But even with a gasoline burner.. good luck getting ahold of a dealer over the weekend!
    I think it is a given that EV products and promotion has never happened at this scale ever! And we as their users ask them to do everything that our traditional gas burners do and even more!
    I think at least for your video you kept your cool and expressed your situation and frustration very well. But I would agree with the one commenter to not through the whole line under the buss due to ine bad experience.. again if you were a block from your house on holiday weekend when this happened you'd not been happy... but you probably wouldn't be talking selling your mach-e would ya?
    I think the best takeaway as you've expressed is that the customer support line needs to be better. That's what I hear! And a very fair assessment. Furthermore with you owning this less than a year all the repair and towing and a rental vehicle should be on ford far as I'm concerned!
    If I took my 8 year old truck in to Ford for repair should I demand a loaner for free???. I could... not that they would owe me that.. but for conversation sake I took my truck to be undercoated and some linex work a couple times and both times was offered a rental.. the second time I took them up on the offer! Would only seem fit that after spending $55k or whatever you spent on you mach e 9 months ago that now in your situation they would had a manager come in and offer you a vehicle and get mack to you in a week or so and update you on you mach e. That only would seem like a good customer service practice to me.
    Good look with everything else. Sorry for the rough experience and thanks for sharing it as well

      Electric issues are one of the most difficult problems to find especially with an electric vehicle and with all the computers and all the chips on the cars nowadays, that’s why the dealers just throw in the towel because you could spend a week tearing the car apart, trying to find an electrical issue. If you’re gonna get an electric car lease it and get rid of it after about three years and people looking to buy a used electric car stay away, far far away from them.

      @bprince9663 Рік тому +1

      I would agree with your sentiment on the growing pains any auto maker has to make utilizing new Tech, such as these highly Tech packed E Vehicles. My problem with giving Ford, GM, Toyota any pass on defects is they saw Tesla coming and waited to see if Tesla would fail then, rushed to get something out to cash in. (Obviously Ford's research team was making mock ups.) The fact that after 100 years of ICE vehicles having so many recalls and various other failures the consumer still pays dearly for quality based failures. The E Mustang should have been Ford's incentive to get this one right and to have been ready to haul this guy and his car back to the factory to show that they and WE are in a new era, and not the same old lame business practice giving us crap and expecting us to love it and pay for it. Try a Chinese product, I'll bet they will be willing to send you a replacement vehicle via balloon, IF their vehicle breaks down! (Be sure to tell Congress and the President of the pending arrival.)

    • @williamwintemberg
      @williamwintemberg Рік тому

      @@bprince9663 I love your take on a Chinese car and replacement. LMAO! Ford and others should have gotten it right straight from the starting gate. As it appears, they have not. The electric car industry is being looked at by microscope. Any problem becomes a big problem no matter how small or how big. The auto industry knew this big time. Past failures are carved in stone. They trashed their chances in the small car and automotive diesel markets 50 and 40 years ago and never recovered. Past history is the future only if you let it happen and it appears it's happening. I understand Ford just stopped making electric F-150s due to battery issues. Tesla is recalling three hundred thousand plus cars for auto pilot issues. That's ok! Someone else in the world will get it right and laugh all the way doing it. Good for them! Truth is none of this is new technology. Electric cars were around one hundred plus years ago. Things were done a bit differently back then but the idea was the same. Today, part for part is nothing new. Electric cars share many parts with their ICE counterparts. The electrical parts are nothing new either. The only thing new is integrating them into cars and making it all work. Sounds easy enough but the American auto industry has apparently screwed it up one more time.

    Charging network is definitely sketchy for long distance still. First time EV owner and we bought a used Audi etron with low miles. When we bought it at the Infinite dealership it only had half a charge. We had asked them to fully charge it before we took the vehicle. They had a level 2 charger in the back of the dealership. Fast forward picking up the car it still only had half a charge. We figured no problem although there was a EA charge at the walmart 30 minutes away we wanted to try a charger at the Audi dealership. 10 minutes from our house. Charger said it was in service but got a charge error. Our car has charge ports on both sides of the car. neither would work. We got that sinking feeling of we just bought a very expensive car that will not charge. From videos I've seen there are chargers that just don't work, so we went to the EA dc charger and it worked. I had pretty quickly installed a Level 2 charger at the house and that worked as well. We took the car to the audi dealership for some recalls. We asked about there charger and all I could get is it doesn't work sometime. My point is the network is still in a growing state. It doesn't help with politicians trying to take money from ev development. My wife really only use the car for work right now and I think ford is not the only EV that might have issues driving across the country.

    Similar situation to yours, but I am ecstatic with the outcome. The 21 had a lot of bugs that have been since resolved. My 21 was in the shop for months, and Ford bought the vehicle back and gave me every penny. I paid for it and then some. I was able to turn around andpurchase a brand new 23 Mustang Machi, GT performance edition could be happier. All the bugs have been worked out on the 23s.

    You got it--too much electronic complexity. Cars now are computers and sensitive electronics. Car engineers don't understand the system they've built. They only understand the piece they designbed--not how their piece works in the car system as a whole. Two years ago, I bought a ICE BMW X5. I spent the next fall in the BMW dealership while their mechanics and engineers tried to find out why the car wouldn't work. In the end, I gave the X5 back to BMW and bought a 4Runner. No problems at all with the 4Runner after 22,000 miles. Looking forward to 220,000 problem free miles.

The EV market and country are not ready for be driving around from coast to coast much less end up in isolated small little towns where is no parts or other than a dealership able to fix the car, this cars have a crazy engeneering and we can say they evolving and getting better between generations. Some day but no any time soon. Add road assistance and towing to your insurance the mach e dont even have a spare tire.

It's really painful to correct all their claims when they defend EVs, only to hear them respond that you're a dinosaur, a boomer who can't embrace change. They have no common sense. Whenever a new product is created, especially in transport or the military, it has to meet certain standards and be vetted. If you choose hope and prayer over vetting a prototype, you're going to have a bad time. The Air Force did that when they didn't put guns in their fighter aircraft back in the sixties. The engineers thought they were smarter than everyone. "Guns are for dinosaurs!"

    There’s a Ford dealership in Illinois it’s in Huntley, Illinois. It’s Huntley Ford. If you go to their website, they have a bunch of Mustang Mach E ( you can usually tell because they’re quite a bit cheaper). I don’t know if this dealership buys them that have been bought back by the Ford Motor company because they’re lemons and they turn around and they sell these cars even though they know their lemons you would think that Ford motor company would crush these cars but some unsuspecting person that doesn’t do their homework or do their research by looking at the Carfax report which Huntley Ford does provide. When you look up It says Reacquired by manufacture, that’s code for it’s a lemon, it’s been branded, Ford was not able to fix the problem, even though they got their technicians and all those scan tools at their disposal they still can’t find the problem. So, according to the lemon law, if the dealer can’t fix it after three tries they have to give you your money back. It’s something to think about if you buy one of these cars and it’s used and it’s not under warranty you’re gonna be out $40,000 if something goes wrong with your car and they can’t figure it out how to repair it. The lemon law doesn’t apply to used car market, only the new car market. You have to wonder nationwide how many problems their are with these electric vehicles. I think what will happen is people will buy these cars keep them for two years and then sell them before the warranty runs out, kind of like what Mercedes Benz, Audi, BMW those owners all sell their cars before they run out of warranty because they’re so expensive to fix, or they just lease them for three years, drop them off at the dealer and say here’s your car back.

      How many miles? Good luck to your Mach E ! The point of the video was to make buyers aware of mach e's issues. Never said that all Mach E owners are doomed !

    electric vehicles are in the experimental stage. And they are experimenting with your money and your time. It will take manufacturer's at least a decade to make a reliable electric vehicle.

    So this has nothing to do with the contacts recall?

    Do you not have separate break down cover, i wouldn’t rely on any dealer break down cover. If the dealer is closed your screwed not worth being stranded as you have found out. This unfortunately can happen with any car brand and any part on the car they do break and faults happen doesn’t mean after one break down you sell the car. Yes if you keep have problems after problems then understandable but one break down and I’m selling isn’t’ logical thinking. But i do agree these dealers and to be honest their all the same don’t give a shit once they have your money.

    I think EV mania is just that ......mania. Two weeks to get the problem solved is just the price you need to pay to get
    that "warm and fuzzy" feeling you are "saving the planet".

    Some of these complaints sound like sour grapes to me. Breaking down on a holiday weekend it's unrealistic to think anything is going to happen fast. Then as far as the dealer being booked that happens with them all. My BMW dealer is big on advertising gold star service, but when their flat out you get in line. Everyone needs their car repaired asap that's just the way it is and most places can't find enough qualified mechanics. You were double screwed because you broke down were were very few people buy electric cars so naturally the dealers won't have much experience. I'm not sure what you expected Ford roadside assistance to do? The dealers aren't owned by Ford so roadside can't tell them to piss off another customer and put you first in line. Now about it Breaking down in the first place is this a common problem with mache or were you unlucky?

    Whether an EV or gasoline powered. You would have had to wait for the dealership just the same. No need to dump on EV's

      I disagree. The area I was in only had 1 EV tech within 250 mile radius and because of it, they had to put off the job for 3 weeks.

    This is pretty much typical of Ford. Throw this high tech shit out there with no infrastructure in place. With regards to technicians trained and CAPABLE of diagnosing and repairing this abomination of a vehicle. Based off my 30 yrs as a ford technician, I’m not surprised in the least bit. Most technicians want nothing to do with EV…. It will take a New breed of a technician who wants to eat,sleep, $&:t EV’s. Seems every technician started driving an ICE engine veh. They worked on their own vehicles and slowly honed their skills and became trained and certified. I just don’t see it happening in the EV arena.

      If those technicians want nothing to do with EVs then they will soon lose their jobs. Ford is serious about EVs, there will be millions of them produced in the next few years.

    Instead of this garbage, buy (internal combustion) Toyota or Honda. I have never had any problems with true Japanese cars.
