    Wow! Everything you showed looked so clean and alive and colorful, especially when the Sun came out! Seeing all those beautiful flowers, I wonder if they make things like lei's as well as if there's some local fun instrument equivalent to a ukulele. This video reminds of when I went to Hawaii, and I'm now craving spam musubi, chocolate macadamia nuts, and malasadas lol.

    • @ExpatNatt
      @ExpatNatt  Рік тому +2

      I was worried the sun wasn't going to come out at all since China had a cold front at the time but we were very lucky. Maybe I should go back in search of the Lai/ukulele equivalent, or even just Hawaii to compare. For research purposes only, of course🤫😅

    Thanks for the introduction. Hainan, hai =sea ; nan =south , this is the province by South China Sea ! The Air Force, aircraft carrier from USA has “wandering around “ for at least 50 years named “ freedom of navigation “ , particularly during the Chinese new year per year, they are very active on their “greeting “ when families in China reunite all over the country. I grew up by those kind “greetings “ since 1973:)

It’s very expensive to export cars to China (100% tax) so you don’t see it for smaller brand cars because it’s not worth the price, but for expensive cars sometimes they are made in the U.K. or places that are right hand drive instead of left hand drive. What a great getaway video! That part of Hainan reminds me of parts of Malaysia and Thailand I have holidayed in - probably not surprising since its all part of south east Asia. Are western hotels chains such as Hyatt, Hilton, Shangri-La etc as prevalent in China as they are in other seaside cities in Asia?

    • @ExpatNatt
      @ExpatNatt  Рік тому +2

      Yes! Certain parts really reminded me of Malaysia, and some of the food I have had in Singapore was Hainanese and was delicious! Yes, in tourist destinations like this the western hotel chains are HUGE and always fully booked. We wanted to stay somewhere a little bit more central than the resorts strips, and didn't want to spend $600 a night. I think our room worked out at around $100 a night which is pricey for China, but not for Sanya 😅
